cLoSe: This video is a visual experiment. There are millions of BMX videos in the world and most of them feature crazy tricks, so does this. But I found out that most people who are not involved in the sport can't understand why we do all this and what is so facinating about spinning a bike through the air. So I made this video to put the viewer next to the rider.
Winter Dreaming: It's not all doom and gloom here in the UK. This was shot a couple of weeks back when we had a small pocket of sun and dry(ish) trails. Riding starts at 0:20.
Winter Bikes 2013: It's been an insane winter riding and filming. Rode so many cool places and here's some of the best stuff we shot, thanks to everyone who helped film.
Tim Black - Canberra Throw Down: Headed down to Canberra to meet up with local rider Tim Black. The track is rough, steep and a hell of a long walk to the top. Tim shreds.
Cyclemob x California: It's pretty tough taking the time to film in California when the riding is so great. That being said, here is a select bit of self-filmed footage I was able to capture during our spring break trip to California.
Whatever it Takes: Paralyzed Motocross Rider - Darius Glover: Inspiring and motivational best describe Darius Glover. Darius has been riding dirt bikes since he was 7 years old. At 15, everything changed when he suffered a life changing injury during a race; paralysis from the waist down. Undeterred by those telling him he'd never ride again, Darius has found a way not only to ride dirt bikes, but to compete at the highest level of motocross. Recent stints at the X Games and qualifications at Loretta Lynns show that no matter the situation, it's possible to do anything you want.
That was kinda fucked up. Not because I pity Darius or feel sorry for him, its just an unfortunate life situation that no one wants to encounter, and he seems to be coping better than most that are faced with that fight. You better knock on wood cause you'll find that paralysis thing when you least expect it buddy.
On another note, major respect for continuing to do what you love. Pretty inspiring to say the least.
@scott-townes, are you retarted or being sacrastic? if you are a retard "This paralysis thing" is when you can't move a certian part or even all of you body, so keep riding with no neck brace and you'll find it, cheers
Apparently a LOT of people on here really take the internet seriously, haha, amazing. It was a joke, even though it's really sad that it has to be pointed out.
@EganBMX.. Wearing a neck brace doesn't guarantee you won't get seriously injured. The debate is still ongoing as to whether they help or hinder.. Fact is.. Some crashes a neck brace will save you and other crashes a neck brace will break you. This sport like any extreme sport has risks. Each rider weighs up those risks and makes a personal decision whether to attempt or not attempt. Many injuries are caused by people going beyond their ability. So ride smart. If you doubt whether you can do something then don't do it!.. Practise more and work up to it. Yeah, once you start hitting fast tracks and big jumps then the risk escalates regardless of skill. However, if you be patient, start small and work your way up to the bigger stuff then the risk of injury is reduced. If you can't competently jump smaller jumps then, you should steer clear of bigger jumps. It's mostly common sense. Look at world class GP riders, they ride extremely fast and on edge every race but, the crash rate is minimal because they have worked their way up to that level of riding.
anyone remember the bling skater he was also awesome... forgive scott-townes he's an idiot he ''hangs'' out on the internet thinking he is cool
also a little question for you... why would something you say on the internet must not be taken seriously ?? some people go to jail for things they've said on the internet
Exactly. If you say it then own it.. If you mean it as a joke then make it obvious because people aren't mind readers and also can't see your physical expression.. Plus consider whether your "joke" is bad taste before you send it.. Karma is a horrible thing.. ;-) I heard this good saying once.. "taste your words before you serve them".. By unknown..
Nah I think the problem is that you kids are overly sensitive. You should know that just because he has paralysis, he doesn't need to be coddled and protected by faceless internet heroes. But really, keep coming to the defense of someone you never have met over something as silly as a harmless joke, it's fantastic. It'd surprise you how people that after suffering a massive injury like paralysis, care so little about something as stupid as a post on a bike website. It's all about perspective and really you guys need some desperately, haha.
I'm old enough to be your dad Scott so in my eyes you are the kid! And you're comments stand to prove you still have a juvenile mentality. How do you know that no one that posts here knows the guy? Rather than trying to justify your childish actions maybe you should just keep unnecessary comments to yourself. You might also want to hope that it never happens to you. You should try living a day in the life of a disabled person..
MrRustic- the best part about your post is that you're acting as if I'm being insensitive or mean by making a pretty silly and harmless joke and then you post, "You should try living a day in the life of a disabled person", which is one of the most insulting things you could say to a person with a disability. It's called person-first language. Now I see the anger is not only fueled by over-sensitivity but ignorance as well. Well, enjoy being angry and self-righteous over the internet, crabby patty.
Angry? Self righteous? Haha.. I don't think so. Living a day in the life of another is called empathy mate. If you think someone like you can make me angry then you live in a fantasy world. The internet may be hosted in a virtual environment but the people that use it are real and the comments you make are real. It may not seem real as you type away on your keyboard but once you click send your comment becomes public and you become accountable for every word you post. Maybe put a little thought into your jokes next time you post. Everyone has a sense of humour but some jokes are just bad taste or used in an inappropriate situation.
Anyone else get a black screen after 1:05 in the "Slappin Base" video? I reloaded it a few times but got the same.. dam annoying cause that was some awesome riding..
@scott-townes, you should feel honored because I just became a pinkbike member because of you and EganBMX. My boyfriend rides bikes and he brought the Darius video to my attention and all of your wonderful little comments. I am a spinal cord injury nurse. I have taken care of many motocross and downhill mountain bikers that have suffered from spinal cord injury. Many of these amazing athletes have continued to ride following their injuries and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. I assure you, scott-townes, that not only is your joke not funny it is in the poorest taste. EganBMX, I understand that you are trying to defend Darius because he has more balls then most of the men and women who probably follow this page, however; please refrain from calling people 'retards' (and if you are going to, please spell it correctly). When using slandering terms such as retard, you aren't making much of a point.
wow darius you are the man! does anyone really know how hard it is to ride let a lone race a 450 around a track and not be able to move your legs and put your leg out for better cornering. shiz man inspiring..... much.
Watching these videos from Grand Forks, ND, where it has been snowing for the past 12 hours. Spring Break (a week of riding) can't get here soon enough!
So is the midway video a bash on Carbon bikes? Why is this on pinkbike. Sorry for anyone who wants to watch that, but it has no reason to be here. Wtf?
