NW Cup #2/Pro GRT/US Grand Prix...Now!

Apr 24, 2012
by Casey & Scott
The Pro GRT's first stop is this weekend in Port Angeles and the tracks are all ready. If you race DH, get there!
Round 1 of the NW Cup went off without a hitch despite record turn-out. Racing was tight, and our friends to the north walked away with more than their fair share of best times. Here's a little recap vid.

And now, just three weeks later, it's about to go off! New tracks, new vendors, new finish area, new podium, etc will guarantee a good time for all and some great racing. Add to that the most stacked Pro Class turnout in the US including some names familiar to us all, and a Strength In Numbers/raffle party and how could you miss it?

Lots of new dirt to ride. The Cat2/3's will start with a new machine built trail at the top that is super fun. It's got a few pedal strokes in it, but well worth it and you can use it to your advantage. The track is so new, it wasn't done when we shot this on Sunday afternoon, so pardon the odd start.

When did Cat II get all enduro?

Man, I'm not sure if I should race my Bass with 140mm on the front clipped in a treat the race like a BMX track and pedal my ass off or spend 45 seconds of pure hell at the beginning on my Operator.

My friend has an Operator and is trying to make the same decision. He might be racing on his Bottlerocket for this one. Gonna be lots of pedaling for sure.

The Bottlerocket would be a good choice. My Bass is single speed so I am adding a tooth to the rear and plan to crank it out. I figure I could make up a good 5+ seconds at the start just by better pedaling and don't think I will lose anytime in the tech areas.

It's got a couple of pedal strokes in it, but you could use that to your advantage. Unless you're rockin moto pegs on your rig.

Technically you could ride it without a pedal stroke, but you would not win.\
