Stories and Pictures from our Travels

Oliver Racing has been busy over the last few weeks following the Eastern States Cup, racing in two ProGRT's and most recently racing at Pats Peak for their annual mountain bike festival. Two words to best describe the start of the season would be wet and muddy.

Eastern States Cup #1 / ProGRT #4 - Mountain Creek, NJ
We started our season in New Jersey at Mountain Creek for the first stop of the Eastern States Cup and the fourth stop of the ProGRT.
As this was our first race of the season with the whole team together and a new pit set up there was a little learning as to how everything meshed. Needless to say it went off without a hitch.
For a majority of us, we were all on brand new bikes. Everyone was dialing in their suspension and fine tuning the feel to our preferences. With a little help from the guys at Fox our Specialized Demo 8's were feeling great!

With a team full of first year pros, there was a lot of great discussion about line choice, braking points, gear selection and shifting points. It's always nice to start out the season on a fun course and the trail crew at Mountain Creek didn't disappoint. We arrived Friday with the sun in the sky through Saturday, and then some rain came in on Saturday night into Sunday morning. With just a little bit of rain the infamous rock garden became super slick, but kept the rest of the course tacky and settled the dust.

The Eastern States Cup has also added Super-D to their list of events and Mountain Creek put together a solid course. Oliver Racing's, Andrew Slowey has been racing each one and racking up the points, finishing 5th in the pro class at Mountain Creek.

ESC#1/ProGRT#4 Oliver Racing's DH Results:
Pro Men - Matt Henderson 36th, Andrew Slowey, 43rd, Brendon Schweitzer 47th.
Pro Women - Kathy Golebiowski 6th, Eva Wilson 8th.
Cat 1 - Scott Bureau 20th
Cat 2 - Jonathan Lamb 12th, Michael Oliver 27th.

Eastern States Cup #2 / ProGRT #5 - Plattekill MTN, NY
Following the Eastern States Cup for round two, we found ourselves at Plattekill Mountain which was also the fifth stop of the ProGRT. Miserable would be the best way to describe the weekends weather. 30 degrees, high winds, and rain meant warm cloths, rain gear, crowded fire places, and mud, lots of mud.
The first section of the course was a Plattekill original leading into a new fresh cut trail that had everyone saying how awesome it would be if it was dry.

Love Is In The Air
The following weekend we had a break from racing and it was time to celebrate as Michael Oliver (the Oliver in Oliver Racing) was getting married to his wonderful wife Caitlin Oliver.
The weather was amazing and their wedding was a blast, beers were had and laughs were shared. Congratulations Mike and Caitlin.
