The winter months are slowly beginning to fade into a distant memory as fresh new growth emblazons the surrounding landscapes. The signs of spring help to revitalize our senses. The daylight hours seem to stretch moments longer with each passing day. The warmth of the sun's beams are now finding more success in warding off any lingering chill in the air. With new life imploding around us, how can we not yearn for the endless days of summer and shredding bike parks?

Busy day in and day out throughout the winter, we held on to our Silver Star film footage. Now, in the clutches of spring fever, we've put together our Silver Star Bike Park edit in hopes of getting fellow riders amped for summer biking season.

What can I say about Silver Star Bike Park? Every time I've visited has truly been an enjoyable experience. You're always welcomed with a relaxed vibe due to the carefree spirit which seems to encompass the patrons and employees alike.

Silver Star Resort has no shortage of features for any skill level..

Just strolling about the resort village never seems to fail in bringing a smile to anyone's face with the palate of Day-Glo colored buildings animating the immediate mountain skyline along with full suspension bikes sprawled throughout the grass quad in the village center. Just past this, lying await in the background, is the perfect playground for a mountain biker.

Twisting tracks ramble through thickets of evergreens only to burst forth at times into expanses of flowering meadows. Everywhere in between a rider can happen upon mellow, roving trails, rocky, technical descents, or jump lines ranging in size and skill requirement.

It's a splendid place to go and explore different trails and features, ideal for honing biking skills at any level.

It's pretty awesome to be able to go out and shred groomed trails down a huge mountain, and once you have reached the bottom, to just be able to hop on a lift and go do it all over again. Rad. I want to encourage everyone to go out and make their own story.

How good would it be to have a girlfriend who was into riding like this?
It would also be somewhat embarrassing that she's better than me!
  • 16 1
Its rad that she rides.. But her arms scare me. Also. Damn skinny pants dudes kinda screwed up enjoying seeing a girl on a bike.. I kept cringing, thinking I was seein a dude with long hair.. And boobs. Bastards.

 LMFAO!!!!

I wish I had a gf who rode better than me.... shiiiittt, I wish i had a gf that rode bikes

 Lol!!

I have a girlfriend that rides bikes!! a sunday and atomlab trailking. its the best.

Come to BC and you'll see a ton of ladies that can properly ride bikes!
  • 1 0
my wife shreds those trails with me in the summer! and i would say there are usually a dozen foxy ladies on the hill at any given time!
  • 11 1
It's nice every so often to see someone riding who doesn't deliberately slide their bike sideways around every corner and do over emphasized whips on even the smallest jumps. Not that I complain when they do :')
  • 13 2
That proves you don't need hardcore riding with big 40ft doubles/tabletops/your-favorite-jump with huge whips/backflips/your-favorite-trick to make a good video Smile
  • 27 19
No, but any of that would have made the video a thousand times better...

don't really care about the negative props but I have to agree with this guy... As soon as I saw the first ten seconds of riding I stopped watching cause I could tell it was garbage. Definitely doesn't do this place justice is all I have to say.
  • 17 3
wow so hardcore. It's a girl on a bike having a great time. Get over yourself, you forgot what MTB is all about (having good times).

"I stopped watching cause I could tell it was garbage" that made me laugh really hard.
To the whimp above me, is what I said false in anyway? Also if you're having a great time doing something, that's awesome but it doesn't mean that EVERYONE has to like it because your soul shredding. I find cross country really fun but watching most xc vids makes me want to blow my brains out and I'm sure you have good times doing something that you'd never want to watch an edit of.
  • 24 4
^ so a girl watches that vid and reads douchy comments like this and is put off from the sport because of pseudo-macho types like yourself. Get over it. Some of us want to make the sport more accessible to people and encourage new riders and growth in the sport. If that video encourages a few girls to raise their game and go ride DH/FR then AWESOME for everyone involved. Girls, husbands, boyfriends, (girlfriends, even). And good news for bike shops- since female riders is a massive growth opportunity for the DH/FR side of the sport. But hey, don't let that fact ruin your big ol' hardcore macho vibe.

"whimp".......omg I'm devastated, the internet has hurt me.

The fact its a girl riding is irrelevant, I didn't even mention the fact is was a chick riding did I?... Howbout you stop trolling for a girlfriend and look at the facts here- the video is BORING and gets NO ONE stoked to ride Silverstar, guys or girls... The entire article is about getting people to go there and this video simply didn't do it for me...
  • 15 2
"stop trolling for a girlfriend" - kid, you are so wrong and off base you need to quit while you're behind

Woah, so its okay for you to take shots at us over our views but one jab your way and you're all butthurt? whatever man, we were just expressing our opinions on the video and you decided to start an internet debate over it...
  • 6 7
gnarbar, you really understood my first comment! and what you said is true. that happens because as we all know, women are weak-minded individuals and have ALWAYS been put off from doing something they love because of a little negativity on the internet over a video that was posted in some update.... and as you know mountain biking takes no resolve at all. to keep riding after gnarly crashes that you will take, is easy as pie. give the girl some credit, sheesh. you guys are so mean!
  • 3 14
flag dick-fitzwell (May 3, 2012 at 18:47) (Below Threshold)
Sorry to burst your bubble here gnarbar, but downhill mountain biking will never be a huge female sport. It's great when women ride and I fully support every one of them. However, you can't expect a physically abusive sport such as this to be a huge hit in that market, it's just never going to happen unless there is some massive swing in social trends... Most chicks just aren't into being bumped and bruised all day to have fun and you're gonna have to accept that.
  • 8 0
I think she looks like a decent rider, what's the fuss about?

Women on big bikes are great, and I highly doubt Gnar is trolling for a girlfriend ... Yeah maybe DH will almost always be male dominated, but I've got a wife that rides and know plenty of guys that do too. Women's bigger travel bikes are a fast growing market segment.
  • 7 0
dick-fitzwell, you obviously haven't spent much time on the trails in BC. If you had, you would know that there are tons of female mountain bikers out here. In fact last summer there were quite a few days at Silver Star and Whistler where there were almost as many ladies on the hill as dudes.
  • 10 0
I think this is a great video... shows that you can have a good time at the bike park without necessarily having spent years developing your skills and showing a willingness to break yourself if you make a mistake. Some people just want to get out and play in the woods on their bike... there's no reason you have to be throwing whips over 30 foot doubles just to be enjoying yourself and, you are, then you're doing it wrong. Seriously, if you feel the need to prove yourself that badly... save yourself the trouble and just buy a fullsize pickup and 14" lift kit so the rest of us can get back to enjoying mountain biking.

Got me stoked to check out silver star. scott townes and bigdirtyfag are douch bags if you just cant appreciate the riding
  • 1 4
^ I guess I'm a douche for not being entertained by the above edit because the riding wasn't exciting enough to keep me watching till the end... you know what, with that definition, I'm sure there's a lotta douche bags out there. Wink
  • 5 0
Yes you are a douche and there are a lot more out there like you. Ya she wasn't going 40 mph down the whole thing but it is nice to check out the trail if you never seen it. Yes i would've loved to see her bf Colt rip up the trail but it is good to see girls shred and its great for girl spectators to be pumped. Everything on pb isn't going to be just for you hardcore douchers. you not a douche for not being entertained you a douche because of all the shit you talk on the edit and on women riding.

Strange, could you point that out for me? I think the lady in the edit would agree with me that you guys are being huge pussies.

"hardcore douchers" man your a bitch, I cant believe anyone would argue that a video of a girl going slow down a trail is interesting at all. f*ck this website, you're all f*cking f*ggots.

^ Hahahaha. Welcome to pinkbike where n00bs think that if you're not giving everything a 100% positive review then you're just a mega douche that hates women, biking and loves to talk shit on everything. It makes complete sense, right?

You joined this site last year and it appears all you do is visit the local bike park so my guess is that you very recently got into mtbing and if it wasn't for bike parks you probably wouldn't even own a bike... that makes you a n00b.

Isn't online speculation fantastic? Wink
  • 3 0
lol, I want to be done arguing with you but, when I joined the site my town wouldn't even pop up because it is too small. yes I go to mammoth a lot as well as northstar and bootleg. but mainly do all my riding where i live about 30 min north of mammoth. So I have
been riding for 2 years. Just ran a 2:25 at sea otter with a broken toe......Am i still a n00b? If so then what do i do?

Jesus christ... We get it Scott-Townes, you're a massive douchebag and a semi-misogynistic tool... You don't need to keep posting just to prove it. Just shut the fuck up already.

More videos with non pro chicks riding to get more of them on the trails . Having more girls on big bikes is only good Smile
  • 7 0
 Agreed 100%
  • 7 0
My wife has a new inspirational favorite video and proves you ain't got to go lightning fast to simply have fun. Great video!
  • 5 0
Nice. She looks so graceful and confident. We all know it's harder to ride some of that stuff at sub-ripper speeds. The flow put a smile on my face. (And we have the exact same handlebars! Wheeee!) But a neck brace and no elbow pads? Whew. To each their own, but elbow breaks hurt like woah and make it a tad difficult to ride and work.
  • 7 0
Hopefully this video will help me to convince my fiancĂ©e that going to BC for a honeymoon is a good idea!
  • 3 0
My wife and I took ours in Whistler. She rode 3 days of the week that we were there. Good times.
  • 4 0
Last summer I did a 7 day dream BC road trip hitting up Kicking Horse, Silverstar and Whistler. I have to say that of those 3 bike parks, Silverstar had the funnest and "flowiest" single track. Whistler has the lifestyle and vibe but Silverstar had the fun factor dialed up.

I am not a kick ass rider, I just like to get out there and have fun on safe, well built and flowy single track and Silvertar exceeeded my expectations. They also have some great big hit lines with something for everyone. Great job and keep it up. I will be back somtime in the fitire and this time I am staying in Vernon a few more days.

Great vid and nice to see the fairer sex shredding just as well as, and better than most of the blokes.

My girlfriend rides very well too and its always great to see the faces of the blokes she goes screaming past on some of the bigger, rougher terrain.

Keep it up ladies Smile
  • 3 0
glad to see more girls on freeride bikes started taking my girl to winterpark last season and was cool to see her skills improve greatly made it more fun to ride cc with her nothing beats bike park laps
  • 1 0
Let's stop commenting on people riding. I don't care if you huck large drops, boost big air off booters, throw 3's and rip rock gardens. All I care about is getting people into the sport. I've had a chance to meet some of the best riders in the world and they don't go around talking s@#t about people. When I started riding there were no chicks and now there are girls who rip better than some of the guys. Let's encourage people to ride and progress instead of putting people down.

Which BC bike park is it that's famous for being really buff and smooth? (Besides Whistler).
  • 3 0
Whistler is NOT buff and smooth! Apart from the first week of the season!
