Play Bike On The Rocks - Romania's biggest downhill race

Unior Tools Team riders Žiga Pandur and Nejc Rutar were fastest riders on the UCI Class I race PlayBike On the Rocks in Brasov, Romania. For Žiga this was the second international victory of the season, earlier in the year he was victorious in Bolgaria.

Downhill race PlayBike On the Rock has a good reputation on the international racing scene and it always brings many riders to Brasov, Romania. This year the riders were again supported by huge numbers of fans, but the super hot temperatures didn’t make racing easier. For Slovenian UCI team Unior Tools Team this was the second race of the season on Balkans. Earlier in the season in Bolgaria Žiga Pandur took his first international victory and now he again prevailed, this time in Romania. His teammate Nejc Rutar was with him and they finished first and second. Nejc was 3.42 down on Žiga’s winning time of 3:38.51, while the rest of the pack were not even close. Jodko Maciej (Poland) was third with more than 10 second gap and the last two podium positions went to Gareth Berwin of Great Britain and Markus Planitzer of Austria.

“I did two great runs here in Brasov and of course I’m super happy with the result. All in all it was a great weekend with a great course and a great organization,” said Žiga after the race. “Short holidays on the seaside and a period without races had a positive effect. I kept the great form, but relaxed my mind and just enjoyed on the race.”

Nejc was also happy with second place behind his teammate: “On the last two events, on National Championships and World Cup in Val d’Isere, I didn’t had much luck with my final run. Now I was again racing for the top position and to have this feeling just before the biggest race of the season is really great. Great atmosphere helped for sure!”
