More Okanagan trail building activity - this time it's the Powers Creek Trail Daze - 2008

by Mr. Gnar
Powers Creek has it all - short, fast, flowy, first class freeride trails, longer mixed trails and some epic all-mountain riding. Heck, there are some trails out there that few people even know about.

Calling all MTBco'ers - come and give back to the trails with a little volunteer time. You know your next ride will be so much better if you show your Powers Creek trail love.Event sponsored by Outbound Cycle

Date & Time: Sunday September 28th 10.00 am
Location: Powers Creek forest service road
Directions: Glenrosa Road - go past Crystal Mountain to the end of the paved road. The meeting place is just on the left.

Schedule:
Volunteers will need to sign a waiver. The club pays $27 for your annual insurance cover so any (optional) donations will offset expenses and helps club money go further. The waiver covers damage/injury you could cause to others. Only persons who sign waivers can take part. MTBco will orientate volunteers, splitting people into teams and allocating duties - depending on tools available, skills/experience levels, and the time you have available. Age restriction - anyone under 14 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. You should be physically active, but no prior experience of trail building/trail management is required - we’ll make sure you are partnered with a work crew who can make good use of your time.

Priority tasks:
Tree blowdown & debris clearance
Berm building
General buff and fluff of trails
Stunt repair
Installation of drainage
Cut back undergrowth, face slappers, snags, rootstumps, etc.
Garbage cleanup - time permitting

Things you can contribute:
Your valuable time – this is the most important thing!!!
Tools - general trails tools such as rakes, shovels, woodwork hammers, pick axe/mattock, tool belt, sharp bush knife, etc
Work gloves, backpack - with water, energy drinks, snack bars, and a cellphone for emergency contact

Free breakfast for volunteers, and there will also be a BBQ (courtesy of Outbound Cycle) and a social at 4.30 pm at the parking lot.
