Prototype 29" DH Bike From KHS

Prototype KHS 29" DH Bike

The Mob 'n' Mojave race takes place this weekend at Bootleg Canyon, Nevada, and KHS rider Kevin Aiello has been seen taking laps aboard a 29" DH bike. KHS was already one of the first companies to have their racers on 27.5" wheeled DH bikes, and now it seems as if they've taken things a step further.

The bike looks to use the same 'Neutral Link' suspension design as the 27.5" version we've seen before, a dual link design that compresses the shock from both the top and bottom. A Manitou Dorado allows for enough clearance to run 29" wheels, and Maxxis Minion tires, which are now available in a 2.5" width, provide enough grip to be DH bike worthy. Will this big wheeled rig give Aiello the edge over his competitors? Stay tuned for race results and coverage from the Mob 'n' Mojave.

Its the track times that make the decision.

News flash: DH racers don't care at all about how much fun they have on a run. They care about the time. If a 29er is shown to be faster in training runs, then it makes sense for race runs. Of course it won't catch on in a larger market, but that's not the point, the point is to get from top to bottom as quickly as possible. I'll let the results be the judge.

Hmmmm, mnorris, I thought the point was also to sell bikes, that people want. In really rough stuff the 29" will probably be faster. That is the only place it has an advantage. In every other regard, it is shit.
  • 92 6
Kevin is like 6'6". Him on a 29er seems appropriate
  • 53 44
i really dont understand why ppl are still negative about 29ers...they are good! way better then 26! and consider i am a Dh rider...i even sold my dh rig and ride dh now with a 29 inch specialized enduro...for 200mm travel maybe 29 is too much, but 27.5 would be awesome..
  • 44 9
regardless of any of the typical 26" vs 29" points, I'm not for or against it but the bike just looks goofy. i hear circus music in the back ground.
  • 23 3
for sure on some tracks 29" would work better...i just wonder when the UCI is going to step in and make rules about wheel size

If they are only fussed about speed, why not wear lycra and not baggy gear. Because it just doesn't look good.
  • 20 2
I don't think lycra is allowed by UCI. The Athertons used to wear it a few years ago
  • 12 6
Because you need someplace for sponsor logos that is large enough people can read it when a rider whips past at 30mph, and that fits over the body armor (that covers the lycra they're also wearing usually) they have on. Lycra is allowed but the UCI banned skin suits so the days of Darth Vader are past.

I predict big time failure in a race with this bike. 29" is a dying format, 27.5 is the way to go, but agreed with everyone else, 26 for life!
  • 7 5
27.5 is already little accepted in the DH world, 29 wouldn't even be bought.
  • 4 0
 Didnt intense prototype a 2951?
  • 10 1
Haha if you put riders to scale:
tall guy on a 29er=short guy on a 26er

  • 4 2
People are forgetting that people buy what advertising and pros ride. If the concept takes off with the top athletes it will take off with the public. For sales Ultimately the athletes will determine if this take off for a certain discipline and marketing. What will determine if the 26er becomes out dated will be track development, if the tracks start changing to suit the larger wheel size the benefits of the 26ers maneuverability is lost as track changes. I think 27.5 is the sweet spot right now for dh, 29 for tight awkward tracks might be a bit much.
  • 3 0
well yeah. They brougth this out some time ago, and intense made a 29 er version of the 951 around 2008, so we are no doubt in a fashion rush for big wheels. But truth also is, that the option should be there anyways, for taller riders, or simply for the ones who actually enjoy it. The options should be there anyhow, and you can just choose whatever it is you prefer to ride, and not be a dick aout it.
  • 11 2
Just wondering how many riders who slag the 29 wheels off to death have actually ridden one, As a dh racer and 26 inch wheel lover I thought I was on that side of the fence but recently borrowed a spesh 29 stumpy for a weekend. Sold my giant reign x0 and Bought one two weeks later and it's amazing, the BS about handling, no fun, strange looks bla bla is crap and simply not true. The big wheels will get to DH very soon no doubt, If you don't ride one or at least try one then you can't really have a decent opinion other than one based solely on ignorance, if you are happy being ignorant then that's cool....for you, just not for those around you.
  • 7 2
Wow ! Really impressed to get neg propped that much just asking why not...
  • 3 0
It all starts with a prototype, then all it takes is for a Pro with fans to give it a try and fall in love with it, then it goes to mass production and before we all know it everyone here's talking about 29er like they always loved them... I'll give it a couple of years...
  • 18 3
I would like to point out the every bike people here ride has technology that is an advancement from an earlier design that was marketed as the "next best thing" before. I have been cycling for over 30 years, and each new advancement is met by whiners who say the old stuff is good enough, and its just a money grab. Turner cycles says he has 26" frames in stock but they don't sell. He also says he will make more if people but them, but they aren't buying them. If you aren't riding a penny farthing, or klunker STFU!!! You are just stuck on the stage of development you entered this game in. For all you guys who said 9 speed is good enough, there were people saying 8 speed is good enough, and before them it was 7 speed is good enough. Cantilever brakes were good enough before v brakes were good enough, before cable disks were good enough, before hydraulic brakes. 2.1" tires were good enough too. Threadless stems were going to fail you know, they would all slip and cause massive injuries. Suspension was for dentists who didn't have enough skill to ride a rigid bike. Its just marketing you know. I could go on, but you get the point.

Some people just dont want to look gay on their bikes. I love ride my bike but before i started, the reason i brought the bicycle wasn't riding aspect couse i didn't know too much about that. I was just stoked about how awesome this whole sport looks, agressive bikes, tons of riding style... 29 will make extreme mtb much less attractive. And dont say that visual aspect of sport is not important, it's about style too.

I gotta give props to KHS. When they did the 650b thing, everyone thought it was stupid and now we see big companies like Trek making 650b DH bikes for their riders. Now KHS is pushing it again with a 29er DH bike, and people hate on it, but I guarantee that if it makes the riders a half a second faster down a track, in 3 years all the major brands are gonna have 29 DH bikes. and if it doesn't work out, well good for them for trying something new, where nobody else will.
  • 1 4
I think that there is a reason that the big companies have tried 27.5 dh already but never tried 29 dh
  • 3 0
Yeah, cause they've been waiting for someone else to take the risk of testing the market. Just like with 27.5. The big companies only jumped on it recently
  • 2 2
The big companies only recently jumped io 27.5, but it hasn't been around as long as 29er. If the big companies had thought 29 would catch on for dh bikes they wouldn't have jumped straight in but they would have by now
  • 1 0
Maybe you're right, or maybe they think the public is more receptive to 27.5 than 29, regardless of performance. There has been (a bit) less whining with the tweener size.
  • 2 0
There has definitely been less wining because 28.5 is a happy medium for people who can't decide. The difference between 29 and 26 is huge so a nice in between size is good. That brig said I am sticking with 26 because I wasn't on the fence about 29er. I don't want bigger wheels because of what I ride

he probs has to ride it, seems like a good option for really tall people, but 26 in wheels for my height are perfect, but for someone who is a lot taller and feels more comfortable on bigger wheels, then thats fine by me.
  • 1 0
define "really tall people". I am 6'1", ride 26" and love it. My dad is 6'4" and rides 26". For him to ride 29" with the same wheel size to heigh proportion that my dad rides 26" he would have to be 7' tall.
  • 1 0
I'm just saying that a lot of people who are taller have said that they prefer to have a bigger wheel and I don't have a problem with that, but for my height 26 in wheels work fine for me. Just another aspect in choosing wheel size from what i've heard and seen.
  • 1 0
That is because they like xc riding. 26er is just better for DH and jumping no matter how tall you are
  • 1 0
yeah i agree with that, but all i'm saying is i've heard from some people who are like 6'4" that they would prefer 29 for DH. Just mentioning what i have heard and trying to see some positives in this bike that they are prototyping
  • 1 0
fair enough but I am not inclined to be positive towards 29ers in any way
  • 1 0
yeah i see where ur comin from, but if someone likes them then i don't have a problem with that.
  • 1 0
its not the people who use them that annoy me, it is the people who tell me that I should use 29er because its better (yes, I know i am being a hypocrite). You should watch the video 'things that mountain bikers say'. Part of it is to pick a wheelsize and be a dick about it
  • 1 0
Oh yeah ik i've seen that, haha, but I just think that we shouldn't really care what wheel size others choose and we should feel free to make our own decision on what wheel size we want to use.
  • 1 0
The problem is that very few people feel that way
  • 1 0
 yeah too bad
  • 28 1
I don't think you short people understand how good you have it. when you're tall, its a total pain in the ass to find a bike that will fit you. I'm 6'6" and they really dont make DH bikes anywhere near the frame size i need. so i'm not looking at this bike as something with a different tire size, i'm looking at its cockpit length, so that maybe there'd be a DH bike frame that would actually fit me. (personally, i'd rather ride a 29er Enduro anyway but that's just me, there's plenty of tall riders out there that have been praying for a full-on DH bike they can fit on.)

TL;DR, just because you don't want/need it doesn't mean other people don't. live and let live, ride and let ride.

I'm 6'4'-215 lbs on a 2013 XL V10C and it fits me really well

@trailstar2danman - Have you ever ridden a 29er Downhill Bike. No you haven't. This article is about a 29er Prototype Downhill Bike, not a 29er XC or Enduro Bike. Saying "29er Rules" is like saying MX wheels rule. It pointless because you've never ridden a DH Bike with 29" wheels or MX wheels for that matter. We get you like your 29er but go ride a 26" and a 29" DH bike down a proper Downhill Trail and compare the two. Then come back to this discussion and say "29 RULES" if you still believe so.
  • 2 0
29er RULES, yes i DH on a 29er (TranceX29er 160mm float) and yes i DH on 26"(Glory), they both have pros and cons.
  • 2 0
Should You Be Riding Instead of Ranting?

 Riding on the weekend...can't wait!
  • 2 0
@trailstar2danman knows what wheel size should be used for DH

@FLY1NGF1SH my friend has something to say to you
"f*ck you mate, I race bmx and have more control over my bike than you have over your mouth."

Pick a wheel size. Be a dick about it!
  • 3 0
Or ride all of them equally and don't give a shit.
  • 2 1
this is fun, 29er RULES everything else sucks. lol
  • 1 0
26er rules! 29ers are for people who want to look all pro but just can't pedal hard enough so they need all the extra rollover help they can get
  • 2 0

I think everbody who hates on the 29er is just full of shit. Ive ridden 26er , 29er , and 650b. the 26er through the tight stuff is more nimble and fast but for flow and rolling over rock gardens the 29er is gonna win. I ride a 26er on the daily basis and then hop on a 29er to race and I don't care what anybody says the 29er will smoke the 26. uphill , downhill, and they corner just fine. if your riding between tight trees where there is only one tight line the 9er is gonna stuggle however I think the benefits outweigh the negatives. A 29er dh bike is whats to come so stop your bitching and let it happen. If you don't like the 29er DH rig DONT BUY IT. nobody is asking you to. Besides it just a prototype.

flag rotek (Feb 14, 2014 at 17:30) (Below Threshold)
But if you make everybody race 26ers and stop worrying about gaining a second in a 5 min race for the price of fun. Then there is no advantages to 650b or 29ers and people keep having the most fun they can on a bike, including racers. I can see if your getting older and need a smother ride for joints and muscles but me still being at a point where I don't need that I will take playful and fun over a second of time.
  • 2 1
Except why should you limit the technology advancement that is sure to come in time anyway? For the majority of racers the fun part is going fast. So to them that extra second is absolutely worth it.
  • 8 1
Rapit2theredline is bang on. 29" destroys 26" and is quicker than 650bs. The kids on here saying 26" for life crap probably haven't even ridden a good 29".

Just noticed Francois Bailly-Maitre has overtaken Clementz at the Andes Pacifico Enduro. 29" for life...
  • 3 1
I sold my CF Stumpy a few months ago simply because my Tallboy c is faster and just as snappy.
  • 2 1
Yea Talboy! I love my LTc!
  • 1 0
race geo 29er downhill bikes, all about the speed,... guess people will have to bring back dedicated freeride bikes to their lineups for the playful side! shorter wheel bases and steeper head angles for a slightly more fun ride, leave the wagon wheels for racing.
  • 2 0
Rapit2theredline said it all, he ride his 26er on a daily basis but switches to his 29er for racing, if the 29er was more fun would you not be riding that everyday?
  • 2 1
nope couse its ugly as fu*k.
  • 2 2
downvoted you because your opinion is bad and you should FEEL bad.
  • 15 3
The bike looks great!! Now, the minuscule tiny rider holding it cannot possibly win anything.

COMMON GUYS!! Stop this. I have ridden 29 and 27.5 and some are ok, and a few are great. However, there are things that a 26" simply does better and this insanity is killing all the 26" great bikes. In 2013 the YETI SB66 Carbon was reviewed as on of the best if not THE best bike around. Jared Graves took 2nd in the super competitive EWS and finished 2nd in the last round of Worlds DH, and guess what, this year YETI had to discontinue a brand new bike because of this marketing madness. I for one scrambled to get a SB66 Carbon frame last week before they run out even though my current Rocky Mountain is not even two years old and I still love it. I see the SB66 being the last of generation of great 26" that may never come back. Manufacturers are no longer developing new 26" bikes while a fair chunk of people keep saying they like them best but may not be buying at this very moment because they already have a good 26" that will not need replacing for another couple of years. This is cannibalizing the clientele. I can see how my preference and that of many others is getting squeezed out of the market. I don't think they should stop producing 27.5 or 29, but the mentality that this is the next best thing will kill the sport and turn it into a costumer based commodity market instead of driver by "Riders".
  • 3 1
 2012 SB66 = 50% + of the bikes sold by yeti.

2013 SB66 = 5% of the bikes sold by yeti.

They then discontinued the entire range. Too bad
  • 4 0
Exactly... best bike around as claimed in a magazine means nothing if people don't keep buying it.
  • 10 2
just bought an evil uprising (26er) to add to my stable of the already existing 2011 ibis mojo HD and 2014 intense uzzi...all 26ers...screw the marketing machine of 27.5 and now 29...i was perfectly happy with all my 26 inch bikes...
  • 2 0
No ,in Europe you can still get one. Here on the States if demand continues they Will make them.
  • 2 0
From what I have read on the Evil Uprising they kind of defy the norm due to an awesome rear suspension setup.

I want a 29" DH bike. I'm 6'4" and it would look normal next to me. If guys can throw around 250lb mx bikes, I'm sure this could be thrown around too with a little practice. My biggest concerns would be wheel strength, and that every damn rider at the mountain would want to try it out, regardless of what they've said here.

Pinkbike, so many of you need to open your minds. Let companies TRY things. Embrace it. Change happens for a reason. Embrace it. If you don't want that 29" DH bike, don't buy one, but don't spout out about how terrible they are.

Does anyone give a fly f*ck about KHS? I'm a bit outta the loop these days (years), anyone ever let any f*cks fly for KHS? Maybe they've run out of goofy idears to use for squashing a shock so this was the next step for "new"?

i saw one KHS bike in the whole NoVA area....so...who knows...i dont really care about it..

Sketchy. And boy those rocks look sharp.

Anti 29ers take a look at this course it will be running. Very few tight corners. Lots of stuff you want to be able to roll over. I don't think this bike is everyones future ride but it may actually do well here.
  • 8 1
I agree with you. That course is fast and flowy and a 29'er will carry speed over it faster than a 26. I own both wheel sizes and I would pick the right tool for the job.
  • 10 2
29" is gonna chew up that course and spit it out.
  • 12 4
"i wish my girlfriend sucked dick like 29ers suck the fun out of riding"

everyone has at 26 inch downhill bike, how do we get the downhills to buy new bikes. let's change everything to 650 be in 29 inch. then you need new front shocks, wheels frame ect... SEND ME YOUR MONEY
  • 7 3
Note to the bike industry: stop spending time and money developing shit no one needs or wants. If you want to sell more bikes spend some money and develope ways to manufacture what already works for a cheaper price. You might just sell more bikes and actually attract more people to the sport.
  • 1 1
 Totally agree! Nuff said!
  • 1 0

i know, lets have a debate about wheel size, that'll be refreshing
  • 5 1
What does this tell you? They went to 650b wheels, and now they figure building a 29er rig is worth it. One might deduce they are getting better performance on a wheel that is bigger than 26".
  • 8 1
DH is sacred! Destroy this blasphemous object!
  • 5 2
 Facts of 29er life:
-No one should be worried until Mavic releases dee max 29er wheels....
-This is epic news for Tall riders
-bigger question: are single pot 203s powerful enough?
- fork options!!?
- what path is that rear wheel taking as it goes through it's immense migrant happy travel.
- anybody know perfect fork offset for 29ers at steep rake?
  • 1 1
 -Manitou Dorado
-Gary Fisher's G2 works really well for my bike (Trek Cobia, handles better at low speed than a 160mm 650b trail bike). That's 51mm offset.
  • 4 1
Fuck off with this shit. This looks retarded. Mountain biking is at the centre of its own personality disorder at the moment. It's embarrassing. This guy looks like he just lost the toss and said hey man, if I gotta be the chump to Vanna White this piece of shit there's no way I'm gonna let it out dork me...I'll just hike up these tube socks. Garbage.

PinkBike, have a poll and settle this dispute for good.
1.) As a DH racer, would you prefer a DH Bike with a wheel size of A.) 29" B.) 27.5" C.) 26"
2.) As an DH rider, would you prefer a DH Bike with a wheel size of A.) 29" B.) 27.5" C.) 26"

  • 6 0
This is night mare...I hate 29`.
  • 2 0
I have no bad feelings towards the bigger wheel especially having not tried it. However I do feel a bit disappointed that this is almost being forced upon us in the sense that this is the new thing and to fit in with the crowd you need to be on bigger wheels. There is a point coming where the elitists will down on us for our darkages little wheels. The hate comes from the favt this sport is expensive enough wighout feeling forced into buying not only bigger wheelset but a whole new frame and forks. Give me a payrise to cover my upgrades and i'll happily embrace it!
  • 2 0
29ERS NEED TO STAY WAY OUT OF DH AND STAY WITH THE LITTLE XC GUYS IN TIGHTS GOING UPHILL IN GRANNY GEAR WHILE WE JUMP OVER THEM WITH 26 INCH DOWNHILL TYRES IN THE FASTEST GEAR ON THE MOUNTAIN
WE RIDE TO THE EDGE AND BEYOND AND HAVE THE RISK OF BROKEN BONES WHILE THE MOST DANGEROUS THING THAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THEM WOULD BE TO FALL OVER AND GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY CUSE THEY HAVE HALF FINGER GLOVES
I have ridden a 29er before (I made sure no one was looking) and it would have been easier to turn a train with out power steering I will never be caught riding a 29er on the mountain I might go to 27.5 but I will always be riding a 26
my santa cruz v10 will turn on a dime and give you 9 cent back and not let it go until to stop and get off the bike I couldn't get it to break the rear end lose going around a flat turn

F1 cars all have the same size engine so why should people be running larger wheels in comps, bring in some proper rules I say. + it's ugly as sin, just looks wrong
  • 1 0
 Agreed.
  • 1 0
A completely inapposite comparison. Maybe more research needed before typing and vilifying? Ten to one on a thread about UCI or USAC your first comment is to bitch about too many rules and heavy-handed enforcement.
  • 4 0
This would be a great product for the oversized rider. But it will not have any place in the dh bike market for an average sized rider.
  • 3 1
Not going to listen to anyone. I would like to take this bike for a test run down a dh course. Could have that weird "ya, it's fun" feel going on. But let's face it, my chances of getting my hands on one.....not gonna happen!
  • 3 1
Guys get over it!! Big wheels are here to stay and if it works with 29 wheels then good for them! It'll be very surprising if most teams aren't on 27.5 this year anyway and if 29 is faster on some tracks then so be it. Move on!!!!
  • 12 10
I think 32" is possible too.

But if i would want to ride a ferris wheel i would f*cking not go to the mountains!!!!! Capiche? So please stop building 29" Garry Fisher bikes. I would not ride 'em.
Never!
  • 7 2
Why not just make a 40" F****n wheel an be faster than anyone!?!

Based on the comments here people are pissed about this bike because it ain't pretty. if the bike is shit from an engineering standpoint then it won't last long so quit your crying. If it proves to be good then stop worrying about fashion.
  • 4 0
29ers are cool, and I don't mind climbing! Straight testing my skills on all the black diamonds!
  • 2 0
Purple suede shoes, white socks pulled up, black blue white horribly garish nylon shorts. f*ck the bike, he's the one who looks like a clown. When is someone with a good sense of style going to start making riding gear?
  • 1 0
Never been a big 29" fan, mainly because i'm a short dude (5'1") and I really can't say anything about how full 29" bikes handle terrain; but I can say that DH is about quanitative AND qualitative efforts. From what I hear the 29" fits just right in the "qualitative" effort section leaving only the rider to break time. This, however comes with some downsides. I think myself that 650b can handle the days worth and then some. I just can't fit on the bike...
  • 2 1
I like this idea just like when Intense did it a few years back. I have always wanted back to back testing 29/650b/26 on DH bikes. Personally I'd like to try a 29in DH bike. I agree it looks strange but that is because we are all used to 26in. It took me a while to adjust to my new front 650b wheel and now when I go back to a 26in front it just looks weird, haha!
  • 4 0
showing the PB community a 29r seems to me like showing an ipad to an amish .
  • 2 0
Why are people hating so hard on this? Jeez, what is bad about having more options.. no one is forcing anyone to give up their current wheel size... Have an open mind to new things.
  • 3 0
I switched over my AM bike this year to a Rocky Instinct 29 , it's very easy to hate 29 when you don't have one until you actually ride it and realize 26" is dead .
  • 2 1
Racing is a speed contest – not a beauty contest. Different strokes for different folks. Fast is as fast does. The course here at the Mob n Mojave is wide-open, very rough, and has lots big sharp toothy rocks. Will the 29 stand up to the abuse? Right near the finish line of this course there's a solid 4 to 5 foot drop to flat. Bike and rider have survived multiple practice laps and a qualifying run so far without harm. As for size, the picture neither lies nor deceives. Kevin is one tall dude.

And for all of you posters who've been commenting to the effect that KHS is forcing Kevin to race this bike as opposed to something else from his stable of race bikes, I spoke with him at some length following the qualifying runs on Saturday afternoon. He is quite happy with the bike and he is racing it by choice. Kevin is also looking forward to thrashing other DH tracks this season with this bike. If you need further proof of the lack of coercion here, simply consider the fact that Kevin's teammate at KHS factory racing, Logan Binggeli, is back in the saddle on his 650B DH bike following his super rowdy crash at Red Bull Rampage last October.
  • 2 0
 Wow, a whole 5 feet
  • 1 0
Wow that's a lot of comments on wheel size, I think the main reason people get so upset when they a see a dh bike with big wheels is because we all spend a sh*t load of money on our bikes, then the bike industry comes along as says sorry your stuff is now outdated if you want to keep up (which most of us do) your gonna need to get a new frame, forks, wheels, tyres hell might as well get a new bike, and now your old bike isn't worth anything because no one wants a 26" I can see why people get upset I'm in the same boat:/
  • 1 0
Why is this such a big deal? They're trying it out. Like most things it'll turn out that it's actually pretty great for some things and not so much for others. If anything it might offer some learning that takes us in another useful direction. Or help offer some better options for taller DH riders. A bike doesn't have to win a World Cup to be of value to a segment of the market.
  • 1 0
A 26" wheel to someone who is 1,7 meters tall is the same as a 29" wheel to someone who is 1,9 meters tall. So, unless you are relatively short, proportionally speaking there is nothing new in using a 29" wheel for downhill. It's also likely that in the future, bikes with frames of different sizes will be sold with wheels of different diameters.
  • 1 0
Another shot of that beast a href="http://www.snmba.net/2014/02/khs-29er-prototype-piloted-by-kevin-aiello/">here./a> Kevin said that it handles awesome, both in the air and in corners.

the spokes probably won't handle a big drop or any rocks or even hard cornering. I had a 29er and wacked both wheels out of true riding slowly on a dh course. When i went back to 26 I went 10% faster and my wheels were fine
  • 2 0
If KHS doesn't make either of these big wheel DH bikes in a proper XL then they have missed the point.

Erm as the post says they where the first to go to 27.5........ didn't they learn from their mistakes?
  • 1 0
I wonder how hard that back wheel is gonna hit him in the ass at full compression....
  • 2 0
 *repeatedly smashes head against wall*
  • 2 0
It's about time. Progress is inevitable!
  • 2 0
29er dh bikes aren't progress. Someone who thinks that has never ridding a 29er and a 26er back to back on a true dh trail
  • 2 0
Bad 29er! Go back to cross country!
  • 1 0
looks like they could lower the BB somewhat. or does this have 12" of rear travel? maybe its just the angle of the pic...
  • 1 0
If everyone rides 29ers and 650b there will be no slow riders on the trail. Lol.
  • 1 0
There won't be any uninjured ones either because every time they try to go around a corner they will crash
  • 1 0
The reason that XC riders think they are fast is because they can't hear all the people stuck behind them over the howling of their badly broken in brakes and skidding
  • 1 0
Has there ever been a longer comments thread???? Lets hope those rims are strong
  • 4 3
I looks like an ironhorse Sunday

  • 1 0
 Look at all the butthurt.
  • 2 1
I thought KHS were all about 27.5.
  • 5 3
 Nope!
  • 6 4
 Just looks so wrong!
  • 5 4
I just can't wait to see the results of the first races on 29érs DH
  • 6 6
why don't they push them giant wheels on the motorcycle community and leave us mountain bikers alone?
  • 6 2
Motorcyclists don't live in fear of one tire size replacing another.
  • 1 1
Because they don't get forced and pushed and pulled into a new wheels size when prying is wrong with the last one
  • 4 3
That is the most tarded thing I've ever seen!!!!!
  • 3 6
If 29ers do become a major player in DH, I see them making different classes for 26ers and 27.5's and a separate class for 29ers. I can't picture someone under 5'5" riding a 29er and being in complete control of such a huge bike at speeds. If they are faster like they say they are, it just wouldn't be fair to the smaller rider.
  • 2 0
 flickable that looks not
  • 1 0
Why not just put a small engine on it and call it done.
  • 3 1
 ew ew ew ew
  • 3 3
Lmao haters gonna hate :-) been wondering when 29ers would step into the dh world cant wait to try it
  • 1 0
Can't believe that you would want a 29er dh bike. It must be a sad existence never having tried 26. If you did try it you would never ride 29er again
  • 2 1
When I saw this I thought oh another dh bike I can't afford

  • 1 0
I'm too busy enduroing on my enduro specific 26" enduro bike to care about 29ers in DH.
  • 1 0
I would ride that.. Switch out the fork though.
  • 1 2
In two years all important riders will use 29" wheels. Ever ridden a Specialized 29 Enduro?
Give it a try and you will know.

I was a 29 antagonist until I tested one....
  • 1 0
The kids on here are still getting pocket money off mum and jumping pallets down the local park. I doubt they've even seen an E29.

Not so sure about that- it still looks like a standard frame size that you could get with 26
  • 1 1

Not cool at all. When I ditched the 29er I was more than 10 percent faster and had lots more fun
  • 1 0
I went downhilling on a 29er and broke my wrist and got a concussion. I don't think I'm going to be riding this bike anytime soon.
  • 2 0
^^^ I was riding with him when that happened. Don't ever ride a 29er on a DH course
