Works on redbull tv. Btw, I've NEVER left a video comment until NOW. Stevie Smith made me shed a tear of joy. That is one hell of a kid. Damn - I might even try and RIDE (instead of walk) over a few logs or rocks next time I'm on the trail. ; ) Yes, his winning run on home soil MADE ME CRY. Booyah.
I didn't think Smith would win because once the rain came it looked like Gee's time would hold.
As Smith came down and we saw the splits I was thinking "Oh no, he could bump Sam from second to third.", but when the green box came up I jumped for joy. It was an epic win over Gee.
I was on the last rocky technical section by the end , then i saw stevie go threw .. couple of seconds after , some guy with his phone yelled out loud : ( SMITH A GAGNER ! ) ( SMITH DONE IT )eng. Never heard a crowd that much cheerfull. Thanks D. Hart , S. Smith , S. Hill , G. Minnaar , A. Gwinn, M. Hannah , N. Beer (which i drank few in his honnor ) , T. Brosnan and the rest of you all , this has been a great week. Merci
What an amazing race me and my frinds was shouting loud in th room for that magic runs from smith. what a race is mont saint anne???? What a track and tradition.... redbull doesnt work good here in Brazil...shame. almost broke the exitment of the race...
I really thought the race was effectively over when the rain came in. Amazing run from Steve Smith, the lines he took still looked smooth even when he was going flat out. One for the books.
just incredible race, hard to imagine what the podium would have looked like if the rain didn't fall, but the race for first is going to be insane from here out... gwin hill smith and atherton are all on top form right now and I couldn't be happier.
fairclough's run at 1:09:50 in the replay was just insane though! he wrecked horribly in the morning then had some pretty major mistakes on his run but I think hes at a pace right now where if all the stars align and he can push it like he did today with a flawless run he could take top spot - even winding up 7th after some major bobbles at key points in the track is impressive.
What an epic race. Amazing sportsmanship. So stoked for Stevie, Gee and Sam. Fairclough in 7th! Awesome to see him in the top 10. He really was back on form. I don't think racing gets any better than what I just watched.
"I was gonna say that Gee Atherton's crash during qualifying was a blessing in disguise because of the rain late during the finals until Steve Smith pulled off a freakin' awesome run. Deym good DH racing action." - posted this at my FB wall immediately after watching the LIVE feed.
A good way of watching it, is via the Red Bull TV app on a smart TV or blu-ray player. Samsung have it, not sure what other manufacturers.
So pleased that Smith beat Gee, given the changing conditions, I was shouting at the TV. This is such an exciting sport it deserves more mainstream exposure.
