Morpheus cycles are gonna kill it this year. Congrats to anthony! Can't believe wyper got best trick with that cordova flip. I mean its a crazy trick and props for trying but pretty sloppy for a best trick. Pedals should be a must in a best trick comp, they are there for a reason.
As long as Morpheus keeps supporting the up-and-comers (well not really, but the guys who haven't been dominating for the past few years), they're going to blow up big. They're doing something that other new companies, with way more start up money, have tried but bankrupted to do which is to get a baller-ass team. Hell I haven't heard of Morpheus before this past year but I bet you that they will be a staple bike brand in the next 3 years... regardless if they have the dough to keep anthony on the team or not. Having an eye for talent like that isn't something you get through market research, haha.
zac, i agree with you but that's what happens every time when you allow popular vote for any contest. There are WAY more kids out there that think the best tricks are the "coolest" looking ones and other factors such as technicality, style and actually landing the tricks are thrown out the window. I mean not to say it wasn't technically difficult but it doesn't hold a straw to a NO-HANDER front flip by any means.
yeah definitely. I'm not trying to take any credit away from the trick or justin for doing it. If it was landed clean than it was definitely a contender but there is no way it should have beat a perfectly clean frontflip no-hander or a 360 super seater.
knew someone would say that. I'm not bitching just voicing my opinion, nothing wrong with that. Don't take it the wrong way I just think that a clean frontie tuck should have beat a sloppy cordova flip.
goes to show that about 90% of all Pinkbike users can't even ride bikes and don't know the difference between sick and not sick, style and no style and especially how to judge a trick, even if you do land on the pedals if it doesn't look controlled the whole way through doesn't matter how big the trick is it loses a lot of the wow factor thus making the trick not as exiting and should dock points off the trick. especially in a best trick comp you slip even one pedal the trick should get docked major points.
just be wary sir ChadVoos; style is derived from appropriate fundamental biking skills, or, comes from a lack of a true grasp of appropriate fundamental biking skills. not going against, just saying, some random (or not) rider may be a f*ckin' "cool" shred-gnar-gettin'-bent-daily-dirt-bag-f*ck... but, the style may just be built off of nothing, ergo, no style, just... imitation? idk. again, dont disagree but can't back it up either. ya dig?
Kinda confused and didn't really get what your trying to say but what I'm trying to say is kids should work on there bike control and style before even thinking about doing tricks
I agree. i am a strong believer in geting "bolts" for a best trick... there was a mcmetz that was o bolts.. but I was shocked on the choice that people voted for.... but heck im not going to argue it now.
It was gnarly wyper, I know I can't do one of dem cordova flips but it looked like a small jump for that trick. Props for riding it out regardless whether you got the pedals or not.
One does not simply "win" on pinkbike without a few kids getting there panties in a knot because "that shouldn't have won"
how stoked is Morpheus right now having 3 of their riders in the top 5 >>> sick! and wyper shouldn't have won best trick....he didn't even land on the pedals!!
Funny thing about the stupid debate over best trick is that it was all he pinkbikers voting for it. No one seemed to care that his missed his pedals. That was a fairly gnarly trick that no one is really doing and not that many mountain bikers have seen on MTB other then on motos. The pinkbike majority has spoken and t you all chose Wyper.
Yea i agree. Frontie tucks have been around for a while and theres a number of people who can do them. Wyper pulled something you never see ( the whole point of best trick) and he might not have stuck peddles but he landed the trick. A cordova flip is way more technical than a frontie tuck. Props Wyper!!!!!
I voted for Wyper for his "double saran wrap/nothing".Not the Cordova flip Everyone always wins with a 720 or a double flip or a double whip.It was starting to get predictable and boring. The cordova flip would have been cool but it was the other trick that sealed the deal for me.Nice to see someone thinking outside the box. When it come to how many rotations equals a winner then it becomes kind of like figure skating.
Everyone stop bitching about him winning best trick for an unlanded trick. The judges had nothing to do with it. You have no one to blame but yourselves for not getting the vote out for your favorite trick. The majority have spoken.
With that cordova back flip (winner or not...) its still sick to see the intro of some crazy fmx tricks come into mtb Cant wait to see what people try next!
Wyper may not have landed on his pedals but it's still sick must have took ages to get it in his bag I've been trying whips for ages and still cant get it dialled
Hence, didn't land the trick. Sorry but I think it's pretty lame to win a best trick that wasn't even landed. Where do you draw the line if you start letting this happen?
I totally wiped out trying this triple tailwhip truckdriver... BUT GIVE ME BEST TRICK FOR ATTEMPTING IT
