Ranchstyle Best Trick Recap

May 7, 2011
by Devon Balet
Day one of competition here in Grand Junction Colorado kicked of this evening with the pro best trick contest. The late afternoon winds calmed to a perfect evening session at The Ranch. The high mountain desert ranch slowly filled up with anxious spectators waiting to see the contest. With riders like Greg Watts, Mike Montgomery, Jamie Goldman and Tyler McCaul, the evening was sure to be exciting. Along with the big names, young riders like Anthony Messere and Paul Genovese were able to lay out their tricks alongside the best riders in the world.

Riders set up for the Pinkbike Best Trick jump by either dropping in off the flat drop, or a wooden hip. Even though the competition was strictly based off their trick on the Pinkbike jump, many riders choose to take the opportunity to trick features higher on the course. The competition took a little to heat up, but once it did riders were firing off tricks nearly faster than announcers Josh Bender and Mike Metzger could keep up with.

Like always, Greg Watts filled his trick list double time with tricks like 360 no handed bar spin or back flip xup to bar spin. Ben Glassen was floating stylish 360 nacs and Jamie Goldman was laying out an extensive list of tricks like a nac flip and 360 tail whip. Joe Perrizo got the crowd cheering so loud it echoed off the distant Colorado Monument with his double back flip attempts. Eric Lawrenuk's persistence paid off with a clean stylish downside 3whip.

What was the best trick? That is for you to decide! Keep your eye on Pinkbike for the Pinkbike Best Trick Contest Video coming very soon!
