Greg Watts, Simon Kirchmann, Mitch Chubey, just hanging around at the castle...
Sam Pilgrim won today, and big tricks like this flip off the Kaiserburg drop definitely helped.
Darren Berrecloth, 360 off the drop. The Drop District consisting of the Kaiserburg drop and the Quarterpipe was one of the most important parts of the course for riders to get points. The two obstacles were worth a total of 20 points combined.
Martin Soderstrom with a big tailwhip off of the Kaiserburg drop!
Cam Zink, this shot gives a different perspective on the size of the Kaiserburg drop.
Yannick Granieri seemed to have a bit of an off day today, when he's on he's definitely a contender, today just wasn't his day.
Thomas Genon on the big quarter...
Anthony Messere, 15 years old and competing with the big boys, what's going through his head before his run?
Cam Zink with a downside footplant on the wall in the Street District.
Semenuk flips onto the Renner Ramp in the Ramp District
Sam Reynolds and Theo Gustavson almost identical flips onto the Renner Ramp.
Martin Soderstrom had so much style, without his 2nd run crash he would have been in serious contention for the win
Brandon Semenuk throws a nice dumped 360 on his first finals run.
Darren Berrecloth, huge over the last jump...
Sam already knew he had won before his last run, but he still threw down anyway.
Sam Pilgrim on his final jump of his second run...
and a different angle of the same jump...
Oh boy, Brandon ate dirt hard today... he had an incredible second finals run going and pushed it a little too hard on the very last big air jump. He crashed and hit his head very hard - luckily he seemed physically okay, although he sounded a lot like certain semi-conscious Pastrana-interviews. Get well Brandon, you absolutely killed it today!!!!!
Anthony Messere had a bit of a hard crash on his first run while front flipping off the step down, and then on his second run he stuck the front flip but slid out on the corner leading into the dirt jumps. Unfazed he skipped the dirt jumps and went straight to a solid double flip on the Best Trick Jump. Unbelievable, this kid is definitely worth watching next year!!
Final Results, Pilgrim 1st, Soderstrom 2nd, Semenuk 3rd
Sam has dominated the European events on the FMB tour this year, and the Red Bull District Ride was no exception!
FMB World Tour Overall
Following the District Ride Podium the awards were presented for the FMB World Tour Overall winners. We all knew that Semenuk had clinched it already, but the rest was still up in the air.
I wonder how much monster and redbull actually compete. What if monster advertising does steal some costumers from Red bull, but increases the consumption of energy drinks even more, to the point where red bull actually comes out with a net plus?
I think if semnuk hadnt gone down in his second run on the last jump, he could of bagged himself a win, coming into it with a score of 74 odd. But good old Pilgrim won yet another event for the british!
Exactly. It's a high risk sport, but it's not hard to throw down an entertaining run for your victory lap. Straight air victory laps are lame, and I'd never expect it from the pros, though it happened alot this year...That said, Sam totally stepped it up for his second run. That's what the fans and the sponsors want to see, good on him!
yeah if you go on utube and search 'redbull district ride 2011 Sam pilgrims final runs' you can see his runs and Martin Soderstrom's 2nd place runs are on there aswell
I'm not a huge fan of skinny jeans myself. However, I think skinny jeans are actually functional for these guys. If you were throwing down tricks this crazy, would you want to worry about your pants getting caught on something? Skinny jeans also provide them the added benefits of abrasion resistance, and better aerodynamics.
