I'm always impressed by Claw's motivation, class, and positive attitude. That said, the guy needs to CHILL long enough to get fully better! He's definitely an anomaly as the the doctor stated, 99.9% of people with these type of injuries are permanently debilitated let alone riding their bikes off stuff 99.9% of us can't ride. We often put virtues such as resilience, and hardwork on a pedestal, and they deserve to be there, but they should be tempered with knowledge and wisdom. I hope Darren can continue to do what he's known for in the years to come, throwing down with style and class, but he'll need to be more mindful of his body for that to be possible; it's not a machine, although you have us all believing it could be
after 8 weeks off the bike with a broken back and then back on the bike for barely three days, then flies to a competition, then gets sick and goes to the hospital, and then with only a few hours of practice goes to the comp and throws down what would have been a great run if he wouldn't have fallen on the last jumps, then goes and builds one of the best mtb courses ever? I'd describe him as dedicated and a good rider, wouldn't you?
When I heard broken back, I though he would be down for like half, maybe a full season. Not like a couple of months, the mans a tank, no one ( or atleast I wont ) make fun of him for taking a break for a season...Hes such an inspiration, if im too look up to anyone it would be him, mc caul, and semenuk.
He's even struggling to walk. Needing to take the time out big B!! Its hard to repair your back if you keep taking hits. Lets hope he can just surrender and take the time out to heel, it will benefit the longevity of his amazing talent!!
I rarely write anything on the vids. I usually just throw some props to good comments but Darren is such a great guy. A true inspiration for so many and such a great ambassador for the sport. He may not be the most naturally talented but he overcomes that with shear determination and such a strong work ethic. He is definitely one of my all time favorite riders and definitely someone I'd like to emulate more in life and on the bike. Way to go Claw!
But maybe take it a little easy when you get some time Let that back finish healing properly. We need guys like you to have a long career in this sport.
Amazing story, hes incredibly resilient. On a different note, Specialized is insanely good at making videos. They're just so well put together, and easy/enjoyable to watch.
man i wana be pro.
