Two years ago, for the first time in history a swiss guy got the chance to compete at the Red Bull Rampage in Utah, clearly one of the biggest and most prestigious Bike Events of the entire year. Back from the contest Ramon Hunziker changed the way he looks at the Swiss Alps forever. The movie „Ride the Alps”, the result of Ramon Hunziker’s summer long search for Freeridelines in the Alps will be released this December. Here the teaser:

„Challenging, extremely steep and scary”. This is how Ramon Hunziker describes the terrain on which the riders had to pick their lines at the Red Bull Rampage in Utah. But only because it looks unrideable to most of the human beings does not mean that nobody can ride it. „I wasn’t used to the ground in the beginning. After some practice, I began to love it. The dirt is soft enough to brake, but still not too soft to ride berms”.
Ramon and his crew build a line no one else rides, which results in bonus points from the Jury. Besides all the self-built obstacles, the 72feet long Canyon Gap is part of Ramon’s Line. After his 16th place in 2012, Ramon came close to the Top Ten this year. He finished the contest with a technical and fast Run on the 11th position. The riding style of Ramon didn’t change much since he competed at the Red Bull Rampage, but he’s setting his limits higher than ever before: „From that point on I knew: Much more is possible!”

Back in Switzerland enriched by all the collected experience and driven by his desire to ride similar lines back home, Ramon begins his search for comparable terrains in Switzerland. Swiss Filmmaker, Roger Wegmann took part in Ramon’s journey last summer; Hiking and filming on trails and hills. It turns out, filming steep Freeridelines in Switzerland is not that easy. The Alps are different, the lines hard to reach, the mountains steep and full of stones; braking is often not an option. Shutteling, as it is common in North America, is not allowed, cars and trucks are banned in most mountain roads and logging roads. After a few false starts and setbacks Ramon and Roger found what they searched for: steep, flowy Freeridelines.

The Teaser offers only a small insight of the upcoming short movie. „Ride the Alps” brings us to places in the Alps, which have never before been discovered by mountain bikers, apart from known trails and bikeparks; pure Freeridelines in the Swiss Alps!
