Dark Moody woods greeted riders on Saturday Morning, but luckily things soon cleared up.

A short, technical track through the woods meant riders had to pump every turn to maintain their speed.

A tabletop just before the finish kept all spectators happy, whether they wanted to see nose dives or whips.

Steve Peat certainly still has it, despite a track with so many tight trees he managed to keep the flow all the way to 1st place.

 39 isn't that old.

Hell of a lot younger than me and I ain't old.

not old in general, but definitely old for racing WC level downhill

If Peaty's still putting that many seconds into riders half his age, then he ain't old!

I do t see why people are using 650b dh bikes, as if 200mm travel isn't enough!

Wheel size has nothing to do with suspension travel. That's like saying "I don't know why they use clipless pedals when they have disc brakes".

A larger wheel will role through roots/rocks/obstacles better, more suspension will absorb bigger hits. No real direct correlation between the two.

Yes but the travel they have in their suspension is enough to get them over the roots/rocks/obstacles. They're just making it easier which I personally think takes the fun out of the sport.

Yeah but all technology is there to make it easier to get over stuff. Should people who run kashima coated air sprung fox 40s be told they must run a heavy coil sprung 888 from 5 years ago? Feck it, adding a rear suspension at all made it easier to get over stuff, Bigger brakes make it easier to brake late and with more control. Every single tech development makes it easier to go faster. But going faster also brings its own challenges that you wouldnt have had were you going slightly slower.

To be at the top of any physically professional sport is old.

How is that the case. It's the national race series for the most competitive nation in dh!?
