The man behind AT's Showdown with his bike and his course. This contest would not happen with out him and the help of the awesome crew he had on board.
Garrett Robertson
Sorry for Partying
Connor Gallant
Sam Dueck hurt his wrist from casing one of the jumps in Friday's practice, hoping to ride today he took a nasty digger early on and called it quits.
Jack Fogelquist
T-Mac
Steven Bafus
Mike took a run today and was soon to destroy his bike in practice. Awaiting another, he'll be back tomorrow for best trick. Watch out.
lot's of strange bikes here... but greg watts' haro just looks like a dog, i mean i wouldn't build a jump bike up like that yet he's factory rider and can't seem to put a nice one together?
Watts bike looks like the just "unbolted" the suspension off his Rampage bike and bolted on the HT rear end They're the same color and everything... Still as "old" as it looks, I think it looks like nice straight steel HT. I agree though that it's kinda odd how a well known, sponsored rider has had to deal with these kinda janky looking bikes.
most of the bikes here are small tube chromoly hard tails, why does watts look bad? his bike has saint and a fox 831 and easton wheels, when did that become janky?
when i saw visser's ellsworth i kind of threw up in my own mouth, i figured that bike would take all the heat for being a dog
Acually there's a LOT of Alu HT's, but I kind of agree. I only mean "janky" in comparison to everyone elses very flash bikes in the looks department. If you look at it by itself, it's a perfectly nice bike. I do wonder if Haro's ever going to bring out a new full-sus for him though. Completely agree bout the Ellsworth too hahahaha.
Why are you talk shit about Greg and his bike? It's just a little different than the others. I think that none of you haters could do half of the stuff Greg's doing on the new P.3 or any other bike..... just shut up.
@Mtb Harry: I agree, that Cromag frame looks tight.
@lehel-NS: Yeah the more I look at it alone, the more it looks like a perfectly fine bike. I think what some may be respinding to is how much it looks like his FS bke from Rampage down to the color and maybe even some of the sticker placement (it did to me anyways). That thing looks ancient and like it's gonna explode. His HT looks fine and I'd be happy to ride it personaly. Cody Gessel's frame looks equally "spindly" but it's STEEL, not ALu and that's just how steel frames look aye. They sure do ride a lot better then alu. HT's for every day and street riding IMO.
I think that Greg's bike looks really good and old school. And looks like that "outdated geo" does not bother him... he did a 360 sui barspin! You don't see that done every day.
There are too many fashion whores around these days.
The kids so small looking in that pic he makes his bike look like it's a 29R... Good on him for going out and taking it to those "older" guys aye, I hope he does well.
Realize he didn't win, but I gotta give Connor props for being there taking a shot at age 13... Kids gonna be a star (or more of a star) if he keeps at it. I can imagine that the guys hes competing against are some great people to look up to and learn from aye. I grew up playing soccer at a very high level and often against older guys and there was always this animosity towards me for being young. I hope Connors not experiencing any of that (don't imagine he is) and can just enjoy riding and growing into a better and better rider as he get's older. Way to go Connor...
I was at UDUG this year and so was he, he was trying to teach me no foot cans haha i got a very small one eventually. Hes a pretty cool kid and can tear it up!
Anthony Messere's frame looks very "interesting" in the rear axle/cs department (edit: Casey Groves looks to have the same frame)... That extension is crazy, I don't know how I'd like to be landing backflips on that or spins where you over-rotate. Looks like it's just rip the back wheel off. Clearly it works for him and I'm sure he's put it to the test like every other ike he's ever ridden, but it sure looks strange to me.
Anthony Messere was killing it during semi's, i think he was a favorite among many yesterday, it was fun to watch him front flip onto the storage containers.
I think its interesting how many people are running Bontrager tires and Chromag Overture saddles. Anyone else notice the reverse arch on Mike's bike? Haven't seen that on a Spesh since the camo Shermans on Berrecloths P.3 wayyy back in the day. Making a come back?
Agreed. His and Van Steenberg's are my fav's too.. Dead Sexy looking bikes, but I think my old bones would prefer a Steel HT like Garrett Robertson's to actually ride.
Yeah that's nice too! Love how Van Steenbergen's bike is so colour coordinated, and has such clean lines, nice and simple! Plus the kashima fork, mmmm!
Oops, guess I wasn't to aware of what I was typing ...
Yeah, Van Steenbergens yellow with red color lay-out is just plain GORGEOUS aye... I love the red over the yellow frame, and the fact that it's CroMo is just icing on the cake too. I'd LOVE to have a rig that wel built/sorted. The Kashmina on the sliders just pushes it over the top looks wise too.
His fork looks like it's going to snap I'm not sure why he is a pro using suntour stuff, even if he's sponsored by them and what is with those seatstays and suspension system?
Yah dudes it's a trance!! Pfft. Get real. Maybe if you read the description you would know its tmac's old gt.. As we all know Giant does not make a slope bike.

also "Mike took a run today and was soon to destroy his bike in practice" i sure hope that was a 1080 attempt, guess we have to wait for best trick
