Wait? What? Rumble in the Concrete Jungle? At the USNWC? Isn't that where the US Olympic whitewater slalom racers train? What the?...... Yep, On any normal day during the warm months the pic you see is nothing like shown below. "Normal" means the 3,750 foot channel is filled with 12 million gallons of whitewater, where you just might catch a glimpse of local Carolina whitewater legends Pat Keller or Chris Gragtmans honing their stroke skills as they conjure up their next "over the falls" assault. In the mist of the winter months, the folks at the Center have come up with something just a bit different for those of us that might be suffering withdrawals from our two wheeled racing season. Gone is the essence of wetness and in it's place the hard coarse granular material bound with cement, also know as concrete. What's in store for the Rumble? Some type of Urban Downhill is guaranteed, with the minute details being working out as we speak to fill each of our little concrete desires. Who's stoked for something different during the off season!

3750 feet of channel and 21 feet of elevation change.... Def interested to see what the USNWC can produce.

Rumble does not fit neatly into any standard cycling discipline and that’s part of what makes it so cool. Our facility provides us the opportunity to bring something new and different to the table which borrows from several genres, and creates an entirely new experience. Here’s the low-down; The course will follow the descent of our whitewater channels, which resemble concrete drainage ditches with a bunch of boulders and ledges thrown in. The overall elevation drop is only about 21 feet from top to bottom, so it’s not a typical “downhill” course. The idea is to slalom down the channel carving the banked sides up and over obstacles, dropping off of ledges, and hitting jumps. You will have to pedal, pump, and there may even be a climb in there somewhere, but mostly it will be like bombing a snake run in the worlds weirdest skate park.
We look forward to the next one.
