pavementEater Our contest last year was based on engagement with entries and the winners were clearly winners. They were selected based on the criteria of the contest, end of story. They did a great job with getting support for their entry and we selected them based on how much support they had gotten for their work. It was a landscaper and a bike messenger with a blog from North Carolina for the record! And when they got here they rode more, drank more beer, stayed up later and had more fun than anyone. Guaranteed, they earned it and when they got here they sent it. Which is what we are counting on for this year.

It was two dudes with a race blog, sponsors, and a video twice as long as the allowed limit. They were endorsed by Scott on facebook. Those guys had two inside advantages not available to other contestants. Bias was given to the winners from day 1 and you should be ashamed. You should be better ambassadors of our sport.

we would love a response to this. ridesunvalley. I don't know the specifics but, he makes a compelling argument, that's for sure and your silence is telling. Corporate fraud is a big part of any business.

The contest was to make a 60 or 90 sec video. The winners made a good, fun 120 sec video. Found here, www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOmw2_MR2uI. And here is Scott on facebook, www.pinkbike.com/photo/9725061. I don't knock the winners, they played the system and won. Good for them I guess. But Sun Valley Tourism basically wrote me an email saying f*ck off, but I didn't save that :-(

Thanks everyone for your concern. The contest was pretty basic: enter your friend to win. get out the vote. top ten voters move to finals. Finalists produce a video of around 90 seconds. We pick the winners based on who we think will do the best job of spreading the word about the Sun Valley area.
All of this was done according to the terms and conditions of the contest. There was no rule about video length. All finalist videos were posted to Youtube and the link shared via us and our industry partners none of which had any affiliation with the winners. The winners were not chosen based on views of videos or any other single metric.

The winners were not sponsored professionals--a bike messenger with a great, funny blog and a landscaper. Like many, they race. Like many, they get free tires and lube. Good for them. They, like most PinkBike readers use social media to show their radness to everyone. End of story.

As a thank you for the hard work, we sent all of the finalists (their partner included) a custom-screened Club Ride jersey and told them all thanks for their great entry. Which we did just because we wanted to stoke all of the finalists out.

Thanks to all of you for checking in on this. And we will leave it at that.

glad you responded, I think we would all feel a whole lot better if we got free bikes. Pretty sure that would settle it nicely : )

"we sent all of the finalists (their partner included) a custom-screened Club Ride jersey " - not true, I was a finalist. All a bunch of lies.
