Sam Blenkinsop rips open some of the quality tracks in Christchurch, New Zealand in his part of a fresh series wildly named "Two Hours, Two Lenses" where production values are at an all time low and radness is on the rise. With minimal time and some loose trail conditions we set to creating this masterpiece with you guessed it, just two hours and two lenses.

Sam Blenkinsop - Two Lenses Two Hours

Sam rails a rocky berm at the start of 'The Flying Nun' in the Port Hills of Christchurch.

Taking in some of the forests lower trails in the Port Hills.

Making moves down the 'Flying Nun' a trail that is easily shuttleable and has some amazing views.

Amazing, on the edge riding, but what I liked most is how often he was smiling! Great vid. Can I go ride now?

I fall too much to ride without gloves.
  • 7 0
All it takes is one good fall. Sucks ruining a favorite pair gloves when you take a good digger. But, it makes you wonder what your hands would've looked like without the gloves.

wish I could ride gloveless! here in north van you're either riding in the rain so no grip or sweaty palms and no grip, still don't get how people can do it

I find sweat drenched gloves worse than no gloves, never wear gloves for XC/trail, but I try to for DH. sometimes I forget them though.

Now that's the way to get rowdy! second pic from the bottom to the right. Smile Also flying nun has to one of the most epic names for a trail ever too!

Sams had that Spicy for a few years, don't think it bothers him much that its not the latest or highest models. Just good suspension setup, he slays it, he raced a mini DH here in Feb on that same bike with Fox sus, his DH bike had all the Sram Boxxer etc. I applaud Sam for trying clips, its not easy trying to change, it may be just a one off experiment or he maybe trying to have another option for flatter tracks either way give him a break it takes awhile to adjust from flats to clips and vice versa if its new to you, he will only get better, Steve Smith, Aaron Gwin were no different, Im sure he still rocks flats too! Btw great vid I enjoyed it, CHCH is sick as too!

Whats Blenki doing on SPD's !! doesn't suit him in my opinion.
  • 1 0
I agree, he doesn't look as quick through the corners or just as generally loose Frown

Anyone else dig the artful rock armouring on the Nun? Beautiful work!

The riding is not bad either.

Waiting or the comment, "OMG hes not wearing knee pads!"

Na Na Na Boo Boo Stick your head in doo doo

OMG he's not wearing knee pads!!! Hahaha... seriously though these two trails are my local Sunday ride and i always pad up when riding the Nun hard, The Nun has claimed many a knee and she has a very large bag of Collar bones in her collection... she's pretty unforgiving and dosent leave alot of room for error but damn is that bitch fun!!!

She's also smashed fingers and made them face backwards, cracked and broken a neck or three! This track can make you feel like Minnar at worlds, and also riding with training wheels in the one run. Such a cool track. Huge ups to Nick the creator and curator of a very special one off track.

Flying Nun is my favourite trail on the Port Hills. Love those "paved" berms!
  • 2 1
My favourite track on the Port Hills too and Worsleys forest isn't bad either. I wish I could ride it like that!
  • 2 1
Do you know like where about in Worsleys is that track he is on?
  • 2 1
Down bodybag and then right at the fence line. About 100m climb up the fence line then into the single track

How do you get to it from Nun? Looks amazing but I've never seen or heard of it

Normally I had not planned to go out to ride today, but now I´ll have too.

Cool trail, but why do Blenky's videos always seem to have stupid songs?
  • 1 0
Its good to watch someone just have fun on a bike..
  • 1 0
Wow these WC guys really like to scrub everything!
  • 2 0
Its keeps them closer to the ground so they can carry more speed get back on the ground faster and get on the gas and improves control, hucking or going high and long on trails like that while only end up one way haha, they don't do it for looks!

I'm sick but wanting to ride. Very tough to stay inside.

crazy to me that he doesnt have the top of the line rear shock on his bike. He is a pro rider and his shock is at least a year or 2 old. anyone else find that to be odd?

This trail is rowdier than a UCI downhill track, for the majority but it seems a spicy is enough. What is 'downhill' coming too Frown
