wouldn't be surprised if he prepared it all after pilgrims 1st run then just filled in the times nd names! its a pity the event was so clutterd and failed to show the best of the riders abilities, although it clearly shows pilgrims the best all rounder
  • 69 27
If Semenuk landed his flip whip, he probably would of knocked pilgrim off the top spot. This clearly shows Brandon is one of the most well rounded riders being able to throw down in all discipline's. When it comes to the big mountain stuff, Pilgrim is lost. Not saying Pilgrim isn't an amazing rider, but this event was more to his type of riding.
  • 26 2
 Thats what she said? Razz
  • 62 7
@Mcsession7: Are you trying to justify Semenuk's loss with the the fact that he is an amazing well rounded rider? Who cares...Pilgrim won this competition cause he was better on this day at this competition, not because Semenuk is a better all around rider. Props to Pilgrim.
  • 11 5
Actually, no. I was responding to "iambike4lyf"s comment. Not trying to take away from Pilgrim, he rode amazing and deserved it for sure. Props to him.

 yahhhhhh go sam!!!!
  • 5 0
 YEAAHHH PILGS! WOOO!
  • 17 1
Because pilgrim lives in the UK their are no god dam mountains let a lone a decent sized hill.
  • 5 0
 YES SAM!
  • 7 0
BS's run was very good until he crashed, he gets lots of points because he is so smooth and stylish, Sam threw it down.
Sam's did a suicide no hander onto the first dirt jump (the hip left one), where others just slightly tabled it.
Sam flaired the small ramp to the side when others did nothing on it and could not even get near it.
Granted he only back flip, suicide no hardened the big jump at the end.....

For Big mountain.... Sam on a wee HT getting 2 punctures in his competition runs, does not make him a bad rider.
Lets not forget Sam was the first to do a bike flip....

 @MCsession7
When talking about all round talent you can't ignore Pilgrims park&street skillz, he absolutely destroys (check the May Zing edit to get the picture). The fact is that large slope style and dirt jump events seem to get almost all the coverage, and the riders who can throw clean truckdrivers on flat or spin 7's off banks don't get as much respect as I think they should. In those cases the huge amount of talent just isn't as obivious as with riders who go really BIG.

It's sure a good thing that these events are there to make our sport known to as many people as possible, but we must also remember that there is much more about mtb riding than just these high profile, people attracting carnivals.

yeahhhhh sam, bout time you got a win Big Grin
  • 3 5
First time I got a lot of positive prop on my comments. Haha! Sam is a machineeee.
  • 1 0
Such a wierd event, I mean riders taking an elevator in the middle of their runs.. but fun with some change and the riding was awesome Smile
  • 1 2
F U C K YEAH HAHA I DEFETED THE STAR OF DEATH MOHOAHAHA!!!!!!
  • 2 1
Haha now Semenuk really isnt similing!
  • 3 0
YEEEES!!!!! So proud , good work mate !!! representing , first Danny Hart then Sam Pilgrim !! If his tired didn't let him down at crankworx who knows !!!
  • 2 0
@betsie.. did you really just refer to joyride as a big mountain comp?
  • 1 0
i think sam's a awesome rider and deserves it
  • 1 0
 @theriotact.
Was just giving an example.
Did Sam not ride Chatel on a small travel Hard Tail, against boys on Dh bikes and came in 9th!
Now that takes some crazy b@lls for that big mountain track.
For real BIG big mountain, only Gee hit the big line at Rampage.
Shame he lost out to a trick from a wooden ramp (not seen one of them ramps up our mountains yet, guess bears make them and not beavers) ;o)
  • 1 0
he did chatel on a hardtail? that's nuts haha. I think i just misunderstood what you were trying to say
  • 1 0
He rode it on the 100mm travel fully Soda.
  • 20 3
It was pretty digusting that semenuk was given third. He had 74 points, won fair and square, but was given 6 points for his complete crash on the last jump, I guess the judges just couldn't have semenuk not on the podium...
  • 2 0
I agree, watching other events it does seem that they are one sided... I am not saying he is a bad rider! I mean he is amazing! but i thought he under preformed in a couple of events where others throw down!
  • 2 5
red bull event, red bull rider.... In any other comp, joyride etc he would have been heavily penalised
  • 11 0
joyride was also a red bull event
  • 1 0
yeh but you have to put a consistent run together in joyride, and stomp everything. Andreus joyride run was insane and he crashed a flip whip on teh feature and was heavily penalised. the judging here was a little more loose
  • 16 0
I was yelling at my computer when Anthony slide out. Frontflip drop & double flip in one run would have atleast got 2nd.
  • 3 0
Same ay, there was a bit "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" from me.
  • 1 0
Wouldve smashed the whole board, run of the day!
  • 2 14
flag pepper8 (Sep 10, 2011 at 10:13) (Below Threshold)
but he still need to be more mature! of course anthony is a great yount talented rider, but why after crashing he didn't try to continue the track? i mean, go a little bit afterwards and complet the course! he would probably finish in a better position!
  • 22 1
Yeah man like he should have totally risked his health even though he had no chance of winning anything! That selfish bastard not entertaining the kids watching at home! When will he learn that it's not about him!?
  • 4 3
He did continue the track...Infact, he went on to land a double backflip on the best trick jump...
  • 1 0
maybe his bike needed some adjustments... and i don't think continuing the track has anything to do maturity at all...
  • 1 0
he tried on of the riskiest tricks in riding, yet he failed to turn around and get a run up for two more doubles. Martin crashed, Martin did the right thing and hit the feature again.
  • 2 0
But he is also new to the big competition scene. It would have been very daunting for him being watched by tens of thousands of people. he was also walking with a limp so that might have had something to do with it.
  • 1 0
 Scott-towns, are you being sarcastic?
  • 3 0
^^ 99% sure he is being sarcastic...
  • 1 0
Come on tardynuts, what's wrong with you?? My last name has an "e" in it... JEEZE!
  • 12 0
I don't understand how this worked; Semenuk came into the last jump with a score of 74 and crashed on his final trick, but some how his score increased to 80. I thought you didn't get any points on a crashed jump.
  • 2 1
I don't get the scoring for his run either. He got a really high score for the drop zone, even higher than pilgrim, yet all he did was a truck driver to table top on the quarter. I think semenuk got a 17.something and sam did a flip to flare or something like that and got 16.something
  • 10 2
Semenuk's name adds points, thought everyone knew that.
  • 2 0
truck driver is a hell of a lot more advance and better trick than a flip, however i agree on the scoring side and also the commentator was terrible
  • 1 0
it was a 3 x up, which is defs harder to do off a flat drop than flipping a step down, and semenuks air table was huuuge. but yes the flair table beat that so its a toss up in my mind
  • 13 0
Pilgrim killed it, he is flipping everything that comes.

Too bad the "Smooth Swede" didn't make a perfect 2nd run Frown
  • 5 0
"Smooth Swede", I couldn't have said it any better Big Grin

He's maybe the most stylish and fluent rider around these days, everything he does is so... effortless.
  • 8 0
I can't help but notice how Biased these threads become. A majority of the Canadians Love Semenuk and Dislike Pilgrim and vice versa with the UK. Props to all the people who appreciate both riders!
  • 6 0
Sam Pilgrim was streaks ahead of the rest on his second run. His tail whip off the box was just perfect, along with everything else in his run. It was a shame to see Anthony go down on such a simple part of the course tho!
  • 3 0
Uv gotta love Red Bull, they have an uncanny nack of providing the perfect auditoriums for our finest to put on a real show for the masses- and our cream of the crop never disappoint. Coming from the flattest part of a pretty flat country doesn't lend itself to winning FMB events but obviously Pilgrim doesn't see it that way! What a legend.
  • 2 0
I really liked the Brandon's second run excepting the last jump. But you know that pilgrim doesn't give a chance! I also liked to see Thomas Genon, it was the firts time I saw him riding and he did very well in my opinion. Congrats to all riders.
  • 4 0
First pictures are online - more to come later!! Congrats Sam and a big round of applause for Brandon - his run was off limits until the last jump!!!!
  • 2 0
Your fast! I just got home and you already have them up! Good work sir.
  • 3 1
Brandon's crash looked pretty horrid. If I'm honest though, he didn't seem too enthusiast to begin with, but I don't blame him. Riders in these contests risk themselves while absorbing huge pressure from the sponsors to do well. Sometimes it seems to achieve the opposite results. When I look at some riders, let's take for example The Claw, it very much seems like he only attends to please the sponsors, ie, not risking all of it but just a tad, doing his usual tricks that work most of the time. Not saying anything bad here, just trying to read between the lines (if I may). Nonetheless, all these Red Bull events are very entertaining and I'm guessing that's what it's all about.... and Red Bull ofc !
  • 1 0
keep in mind that Claw is coming back from a broken back injury, which wasn't even very long ago at all, so he's been pretty reserved after that this season... it's incredible he can even ride these jumps after what he's been through this season... this type of contest isn't really geared towards his riding style either, compared to something like Rampage where he takes the large risks...
  • 2 0
That's because he's inhuman...he's a bikemachine running on duracells! Smile
  • 1 0
more like he's running on uranium! but yeah me agree's foxynight dude!
  • 1 0
it had been great to see the event fully free and in live!! well done sam, not brandon's day, lacondeguy as massive as always... and messere throwing dobleflips!!!! sick event!!
  • 4 0
 Amazing season!!!! Thank you Sam!!!!
  • 2 0
Congrats to Sam, such a trick machine! Soderstrom's still the styliest rider though
  • 2 0
martin sodeerstrom is TOOOO stylish 3 too bad he messed up on second run ;(
  • 2 0
I wish, Semenuk landed his Flip-Whip! I've catched his TLD-Gloves!!! Yeah man!!!
  • 1 0
I could care less about energy drinks, but I must say I find it ironic that a monster rider wins the redbull event!! Looked rad from the pics.....way to send it guys!!
  • 1 0
I have to admit I wanted Semenuk to win, but Sam Pilgrim did a killer run!!!!!! he deserve it!
  • 4 0
His crash looked like it would have hurt so much!

for Brandon Semenuk I dont think this is his kinda contest...its lame im hands down stuuuuuuuuuupid coruse
  • 1 0
Despite the lack of media access, the shots look good. Nice Ian!
  • 1 0
Lack of media access? Them jokers were all over the place, and forget about the "freelancers".(not sure what they like to be called) Could barely get to the railing because of them, except by the booter at the bottom it was a huge area.
  • 2 0
Really when we talk about media access we're talking about access to the other side of the railing, inside the course, and a few proper photographers didn't have that access on the first day.
  • 1 0
Ahhhh.....Gotcha. I saw a few in there, most by the castle drop though. Definitely not as many as outside for sure. Didn't go yesterday either.
  • 1 0
what do you think ....hes unreal Big Grin
  • 1 0

  • 3 0
yeah he was fine at he podium! just a little bit sad... XD
  • 3 0
Not really sad, he was still out of it Wink ) he hit his head really hard and had some problems remembering everything!!! Wink
  • 3 0
i think it was a serious knock out, so the german commentator told all the media guys to put their cameras away. he looked little disorientated during price giving, but seems to be alright.
  • 1 0
so it really was knocked out?? there was expectation after the crash
  • 1 0
pretty sure there was a gnarly crack on his helmet too going through the sun on the redbull logo
  • 1 0
Pilgrim is amazing, so stoked for him!
