The course started from the roof of Flo Wolfs House! The son of the Alpine Palace Hotel. How cool is that?
I have always had a good time in Saalbach! As far as I can remember the Adidas Slopestyle back in 2003 was one of the first Slopestyle Events in Europe. One year at the event I even won a Goat, which was presented to me instead of a trophy at the "Goat Style Jump Contest"! This is not even a joke! It had Timo written on its necklace.
Back then it surprised me how laid back the town of Saalbach was and it seemed that everyone was involved in helping with the events... this year it was no different! The course is very unique. Joscha Forstreuter Pro MTBer did an amazing job designing and building the course. He used the available space to his advantage and gave the riders a playground to have a good time on!
I am from Berlin myself. You can say that I am a city kid and the only thing close to a mountain, which we have is called devil's hill. When I get a chance to go out to the mountains, I love every minute of being there and this feeling multiplies by a lot when I get to see my friends from around the world.
The Bikes and Beats Festival was very laid back. This year they had an awesome Beat Box Show and Hip Hop Concert on Saturday with the massive beats crew!
At the end of the day the riders who have come to Saalbach loved the course. It flowed well and it was big, but still safe to ride. Because the venue is situated in the center of the town and you have mountains surrounding it, the wind was not a problem at all!
Geoff Gulevich was the one boosting the wall in front of the Bling Bling Alpine Palace Wolf Hotel the most!
Tobi Wrobel
Raphael Baltes hitting the jump on the course with a 360.
Awesome 360 unturndown. This is a trick you don't see too often from Tobi Engelmann
Geoff Gulevich and me... Geoff is thinking I guess: "Timo is probably right and I should start drinking less. Live healthy and do more Yoga, so I can still ride when I am as "old" as Timo"
Old guy boostin
Thomas Genon has so much bike control and style! As you know style is nothing and everything
Boom! A huge 3 downside whip by the talented Belgian Thomas Genon in front of the Austrian crowd. They were quite impressed by those crazy bikers.
Simon Kirchmann rode really well and did this front flip where nobody was thinking about doing it!
Geoff Gulevich styling the wall
Is it a plane? No it's a bike on the way up the house.
MCs: Sven Martin and Marius Hoppensack (Beddo owner and overall friendly, creative guy and awesome rider)
Filmer
Dmitri Shushuyev from Estonia. I got to know him 4 years ago through Facebook and finally I was able to personally meet him and work with him! He is a friendly, motivated and talented, nice guy!
Judging is not easy when the level of riding is very high! Tibor Simai, Andi Wittmann and Angie Hohenwarter
Happy rider Patrick Leitner
Street machine Hendrik Tafel said: I had my pads on for 10 hours and need some air on my stinky skin.

Winner Thomas Zejda!
It was really close between Thomas Zejda and Thomas Genon! They both had awesome runs and impressed the judges and the crowd with a variety of technical tricks - for example tricking the wallride after the Drop and boosting the next wall with a trick where other riders did now. Jakob Vencil really rode smooth and clean and impressed a lot of people! Patrick Leitner was happy to finally get a run done, which was well deserving of an FMB Podium! Tobi Engelmann was getting big props for his sweet 360 unturndown! Which he even did into the whale tale!
Podium Top 5! Tomas Zejda
Thomas Genon
Jakub Vencl
Patrick Leitner
Tobi Engelmann
Aftershow Party DJ! Yes he looks like Otzi from the mountains
BIG Props to Joscha Forstreuter and his building Crew! Around 11.000 Nails in 10 days for this sweet course!
City Boys happy to be in the mountains! Joscha and myself.
Buddies
Big thanks go to all involved! Great atmosphere, big contest, but still laid back and that's how riders like it!
Take care,
