That's exactly why he didn't win. It does kinda suck, and in a best trick comp, he or Kelly would have nailed it, but the entire line is judged. He was so amped after sticking it that he went wandering a bit, missing all the hits that followed. Just by hitting his line after the send could have easily bumped him well up.
I know this is supposed to be about Strait, McGazza, and Zink, but does anyone know what kind of shape Binggeli is in? That crash was vicious on a trick that was one of the craziest of the day and I feel like he was thrown to the wayside. Get well soon dude!
Imagine what must have been going through his head on his way up to the drop, as MTB'ers we all think 3 steps ahead to the landing, the way the jump will throw you etc. He must have been shitting bricks.
It says somewhere else in Pinkbike (not sure which article) that Binggeli (spelling sorry?) is "ok", his leg is pinned and expecting full recovery "in a few months"
Good times!!!
I'm pretty sure that yes, people definitely care about how he is, Pinkbike let us know, chill, it's fine!
It doesn't matter that he didn't win. We all know this Rampage belongs to Cam. I hope he is still proud of it. Still, Kelly and Kyle put down INSANE runs and deserve much respect. Everyone for that matter. I'm just disappointed we didn't get to see Brandon put his line together. Rough day for the guy.
Binggeli had a rod inserted into or against his left femur last night after being airlifted to St. George. His FB says they'll start PT today as they don't want to waste recovery time. Best wishes to him and his healing!
im sure zink would have won if he had the chance to do it again and get the run he wanted, but rampage is a contest of the best line, not best trick. nobody got robbed. unless you want to say everyone got robbed by not having a chance for a second run (or one that counted), in which case everyone was robbed equally, and wind was the thief. rampage was awesome, the stoke continues.
If it were just about tricks downhillerinsf, then I'd agree. This kind of event though isn't just about tricks. This isn't a slopestyle contest. What kyle did up top for his line, and how well he rode that? That was amazing. His entire run was rock solid and awesome.
I would agree I believe Strait earned a first place finish. I also think Mcgarry earned his second place had Zink finished his first run as planned that would of been a different outcome....maybe or all three could have spilled on there second runs possible injuries and what not...you just don't know.
Personally think the many did better up top than Strait, Andreau's speed up top was insane and nuts, and his style down the rest was awesome. McGarry was also fantastic. Personally I think McGarry or Andreau or TMac should have took the win, but ours is not to reason why...
TMac, and Andreau. Strait ran the exact same line at the top as Zink pretty much, hardly that original! Many guys ran nuts line up top, Brendog did too. And someone who I forgot ran a line that looked totally natural and untouched.. Andreau was way faster than anyone down the top section and more stylish too IMO.. Except for one bit at the top, Straits line looks like a transfer route!
Totally Awesome, Strait and Zink, nobody will ever be able to talk Red Bull Rampage with out mentioning these guys. The stuff of legends. To Bender, Simmons, Super T Klassen and all the veteran riders of past who helped progress the sport to where it is today,... Thanks...
Yeahhh but his run compared to the others was actually complete. McGarry and Zink both messed up on their lines due to being probably the happiest they've ever been, haha.
They're all out of their minds.
soooooo massive.....not to talk about the massive inertia of his balls, that's something you should consider when flipping from a 35 m drop onto the dirt. so busted Andreu didn't made it to the podium, 2 flawless runslike those deserve a medal. McGazza is insane.
Zink and Mcgarry got robbed ! Straits run was super fast and burly but that backflip down the sender was wilder than everything i`ve ever seen on to wheels. When Zink was waiting for his run at the top i was more nervous than when Steve Smith dorpped in at World Cup finals in Leogang.
I dont care who got robbed, that event was NUTS! While everyone else was watching football, I was streaming Rampage in the other room. When I saw that backflip and yelled "HO-LY SHYT!", everyone in the house stopped watching the game and started watching Rampage til it ended. Big pull.
Been following rampage since it began in '03 and f**k me...backflips were done over smaller jumps/gaps and josh bender + super T were pushing the limits of drops/sender....yesterday blew me away, backflips off the sender and over the canyon gap was eye candy...hats off to all the riders theyre pushing the boundries of the sport :-D
pleeze, lets not forget the guys that built that mother, the riders have to put ALL their trust in those dudes that build that stuff, you only have to be a degree or two out and ....bang....your on the wrong side of the hospital doors!!!
Seriously... one of the gnarliest things I've ever witnessed in any sport.
If he over rotates that he's dead. Under rotates that... he's dead. It was money.
The rest of his run was pretty wack but that one trick... holy crap.
The flip over the canyon was impressive too but not like this. I think Cameron would have flipped it had he gotten to do his second run. But no one was gonna flip the sender. That's beast mode. Dude is legendary. Reminds me of pastrana. Every time he shows up you wonder wtf he's been working on.
well... I don't think anyone got robbed from the judges I wish everyone would have gotten to finish there second runs because this was a close call and it was sooo sick to watch so many people killed it !!!
Are there numbers on how big that is? I've been looking, but haven't been able to find anything. When sharing with non-biking friends, it's better to give them a number for reference!
Yes, successor... Haha. Don't Pinkbike post and drink wine kiddies. But I am not so sure about Rampage, per say, continuing... But yes, you are correct in that Redbull's enterprise will get something going, no doubt = $$$$$
Antoine Bizet have said 2 days ago "If Zink do a flip on the Oakley Icon Sender, I do a flip no hander" WHY THERE WAS THIS WIND ? WHY ? I want to see that !
Throw down a challenge and Zink will kill it. He's an animal! Mad props. And to think he still wanted to go bigger on his next run, still with all the pain. Amazing!
Mc garry was robbed. Judging defo favours the big name riders. Mc garry barely got a mention. No one even came out to congratulate him at thecend of his run.
Nah flipwhips are for slopestyle and dirt. Clean and huge flowy flips on the most technical and hard places are where it's at with big mountain riding.
If the Rampage would become all about barspins and tailwhips I'd stop watching right away.
nice dictionary.. didn't know slam had anything to do with doors, shut the front door is a play on stfu so your argument is invalid, maybe make it; DRIVE A BUS THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR (a little bit more intense than just shutting it)

I thought Andreu had it tough too, his line was full on Rampage madness, maybe just needed one more big trick?
Cheers for the update about Binggeli good to know he's ok, such a huge impact, what a warrior! Heal up quick!
and sethsherlock, i thought it was funny
To Bender, Simmons, Super T Klassen and all the veteran riders of past who helped progress the sport to where it is today,... Thanks...
WHY THERE WAS THIS WIND ? WHY ? I want to see that !
Zink... What a guy!
Strait's run was the same as Zink's except for a few jumps (without tricks) at the bottom. A great run but not in the same league as Zink's...
