June 23rd and 24th, 2007 marks the 10th anniversary of Mountain Mayhem, and with it the 10th year of Shimano’s neutral technical assistance. Working throughout the night, Shimano’s team of expert mechanics will always be on hand to assist and support those taking part. There’s no charge for service, all you need to bring with you is your bike and a smile!Commenting on Mountain Mayhem’s long association with Shimano, organiser Pat Adams had the following to say, “I am so pleased Shimano will be with us again this year as they were the first sponsor to come on board in year one to support the Red Bull Mountain Mayhem” Matt Rushton, Marketing Manager of Madison said, “We are delighted to offer our continued support to the riders at Mountain Mayhem, they are what makes this what it is – the best MTB festival in the world. Seeing Mountain Mayhem grow every year is a great testament to Pat and his team for keeping the thing fresh. May it last for another 10 years.”

Out of the shadows – Shimano XT:

The world’s largest mountain bike festival, Mountain Mayhem isn’t the only one celebrating an anniversary this year. Shimano’s iconic Deore XT groupset is celebrating its 25th anniversary! To mark the occasion, Shimano have launched a new XT groupset featuring the new and exciting Shadow rear mech and the riders and spectators at Mountain Mayhem will be amongst the first in the world to see and try out production samples of the new group. Madison, the UK importers and distributors of Shimano will be holding another fantastic giveaway in the same vein as the past 2 festivals, whereby they’ll be giving away the FIRST XT groupset to land on their doorstep to one lucky winner. See below of competition details.

Mountain Mayhem is the ultimate of grass roots MTB events and we want to make sure the prize goes to a bastion of grass roots cycling, which is why this year, we will be asking you to nominate somebody worthy of such a prize. It could be someone who’s attending their 10th Mayhem or their first, the person that introduced you to mountain biking, someone who contributes to your local trails, a rider raising money for a good cause or the guy that gets you out on your bike, organises all your trips. BRING THEM OUT OF THE SHADOWS! Please make your nominations to Matt Rushton or Phil Hammill on the Shimano stand at the event, or get it in early by emailing matt.rushton@madison-cycles.com.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! We’ll be giving away 3 pairs of the new Custom-Fit M300 SPD shoes at random to competitors pictured throughout the weekend in their free Shimano T shirt. Fittings will take place at the Ultimate Pursuits wagon.

The giveaways are exclusive to competitors (nominations can be made by anyone); all you need to do to enter is come along to the Shimano tent outside the registration marquee with your race number and pick up your 2007 Shimano Shadow T-shirt.
