Free Bikes, Stagettes and getting towed at 4:30 AM-all in a days work for Romo!

The other weekend at Silver Star resort was a good time for riding and seeing old friends. Some of the best times happened once the lifts had stopped for the day and everyone got together for some apres riding activities.

There was the Red Bull Trail Crew Awards presentation, the closed TOO early Vance Pub-which forced us to go elsewhere for entertainment and late night driving. Read on to see what a guy like Romo gets up to once the lifts stop for the day.The Red Bull Trail Crew Event pitted builders from Sun Peaks, Vernon, and Kelowna against each other, but the part that got left out is that each team had riders that were brought along to rip the trails with the pros too. Over the course of Friday and parts of Saturday, Shaums March and Wayne Goss rode with all the young rippers and got additional feed back from the other pros on attendance as to who stood out on their bikes.

After the Vernon team of builders were recognized for their ability to put wood and nail into rideable pieces of art the next awards were presented to the riders that got their shred on. The two riders that stood out in the other riders minds were Regan Hogelie and Casey Groves. Both riders were presented with brand new Marin bikes and given a grass roots sponsorship through MMR Camps.

Casey

Casey's street style and skills on the hardtail made him a sure fire winner for a new bike. His new bike will see a thorough beating over the next few months.

Rumor has it Mr.Regan is hella fast on the DH bike and has the promise to hone those skills with the help on MMR and Marin bikes now.

Once the free/earned bikes were handed out it was time to find some eats and bevies to wash the eats down. Since it was 6:20pm and the only place to get food stopped serving at 6pm, we found ourselves in a bad position. Having to drive to Vernon to eat is a little lame, but proved to end up being entertaining none the less. I loaded up with Radek and Romo, while Wayne joined us later into our dinner.

Our waitress at Earl's told us that Monashee's was the place to go once the sun went down in Vernon. Sounded good to us! Off we went to Monashee and initially it seemed like we'd hit a dead spot, but we were reassured that after 11pm it would light up properly. We all grabbed a big old sofa seat and sat back to see what the night had in store. As luck would have it, a stagette would sit in the love seats in front of us and provide entertainment for the next little while.

Just another day for Steve

Goss and I decided to bust before things got too fun-yeah we're lame like that. I'm sure that the next few hours were fine for Radek and Romo while they adventrued around Monashees though:

Hmm seems the girls had to kiss the tallest guy in the bar

I may have left the festivities early, but if you leave your cell phone on, chances are your friends may call it EARLY in the morning. Wishing for a girl's voice, I was disappointed to hear Radek and Romo on the other end looking for a tug-shocked at first by the request I rubbed my eyes and said what? "We're stuck and need to get out!" Haha friends are fun! Ugh I threw on some clothes and turned in the hubs on the 4Runner and went in search for the lost boys. No need to get into details as to where I found them, but lets say-WTF were you doing there? Hmmm seems as though I only had a 6 foot tow strap and we needed about 8 ft to get a good angle for extraction. Enter a Kryptonite cable and a U-lock to finish the tow line and out popped that F-150 of Steve's.

No idea where that puddle came from

Off to bed for the second time-there are trails that needed to be ridden still the next day. The boys were a little groggy Sunday morning-come to think about it, I'm not sure we even saw Steve that day! Silver Star delivered some great runs and then the skies turned some nasty weather on us-time to call it a weekend.

Since when is getting loaded, driving, and being too sick to rip not cool? Must've been a wicked time sorry I missed it.

not a good move 4x4'ing and getting stuck on Silver Star itself

the good part Jaydawg is that they did not get stuck on the ski hill itself (thankfully I don't believe that's where they were headed), but they were close enough to the resort that I didn't have to go far from my hotel to get them.
