Dave and the folks over at
Sombrio Clothing definitely know what’s up when it comes to awesome riding gear that keeps you dry, cool, protected, and looking like you actually have some sense of fashion. I've got a full set up of Sombrio clothing including Vapor Jacket, Wildcard Shorts, Forensic Gloves, and some Trio Socks. So far everything has gotten a lot of good hard riding in, and I am so stoked on this rad stuff. You should be too.
Vapor Jacket:
This is by far my favorite piece of clothing that I’m using from Sombrio. I’ve been using it up in the mountains on rainy days, wearing it out on hot dates, back to the dirt jumping trails when it’s nippy out, digging days, and commuting back and forth to work. This jacket so far has been very versatile and keeps me dry and perfectly vented for whatever I am using it for. Its features are 20,000 dpi waterproof, sealed water proof zippers, vented armpits, adjustable cord lock hood. One of the things I’ve noticed is that the material can handle a ton of abuse. Myself and other owners of the jacket have taken their spills in this jacket, only to get up and have not even a scratch. The colors are subtle, but this means you will own it for years as different vibrant color trends come and go.
Short Term Observations:
- Jacket tends to expand when super wet
- Wish there was a brighter color option for photos and filming like the original orange one
- Nearly bombproof
-At approx. $300 CDN this is a jacket that you'll buy and hold onto for a long time and its built to last
Forensic Gloves:
I’ve been riding with Sombrio Forensic gloves for nearly 2 years now and have basically no complaints. I use one pair for digging and one pair for riding; both pairs have lasted a full season of abuse and barely have a rip. The colors are nice and loud and make heads turn, and for the price and comfy fit you can’t complain!
Wildcard Shorts:
These are the shorts to have if you like wearing shorts but still like to be kept warm when it’s cold and wet out. The shorts offer tons of protection, keep you warm, but also offer ventilation zippers for when it heats up. They’re waterproof and come with a little spot that perfectly keeps cell phone accessible but dry and will keep it from falling out. And to quote Sombrio:
"The wildcard short is about texture, it is a herringbone material, which is super progressive in bike, also comes with leather trims. The feel is soft and supple-and ruggedly cool. This item is more like a piece of art."
That alone says a lot about how they feel about their products. Good to see such pride in one's products.
Short Term Observations:
- Super comfortable and have a feeling of confidence
- Great for winter and fall riding
Trio Sock:
To complete the outfit the Sombrio Trio socks are top notch. The socks are well vented to keep moisture out and cool air flowing in. They’re comfier than a dress sock, but are nice and strong at parts where socks will usually rip. No complaints with these socks and I can’t wait to test them further.
Short Term Observations:
- Great length and design
- Super comfy and stay cool
- Dry fast when wet
- Need some more crazy colors!
So there’s my little short term spiff on how I love Sombrio stuff. So far I’m super stoked on everything and have no complaints.
