Every Wednesday, I head up Diamond Head to photograph a local race called the Toonie. Sorca (Squamish Off Road Cycling Association) is really enthusiastic about the biking community here in Squamish and they have been doing a great job at getting people out there. It's a great time for people to meet new friends, socialize, compete and most importantly have fun!
The guys and gals at Sorca host these races called "Toonies". Everyone is invited. You pay two dollars as a registration fee and half the money goes to trail maintenance the other half goes to the winner. In recent times the turnouts for these races have been getting bigger and bigger. They are really starting to get popular with the XC races, downhill races and social rides. This particular event was a downhill race on the trail Lowdown. Riders from a wide variety of teams will show up at these races; teams like C4. C4 is a downhill bike team based out of Squamish. Cory Leclerc, head coach and manager for C4. He is very dedicated to downhill and training his athletes to their full potential. Keen on his team, Cory is working hard at turning his riders into champions. He has earned exceptional sponsors like Norco, Hayes, Sun Ringle, Race Face and Marzocchi who have played key roles in C4 outstanding performances. So the turnouts are getting bigger and bigger every week; it's smiles all around. It's nothing but good times. Here are some photographs I have taken from the latest race.

A very special thanks to Yanik the DH race organizer from Sorca. None of these races would be possible without him!
After every race there is an after party for all participants. They can come, have some delicious food, laugh and socialize. These after party barbecues are always a perfect way to top off a great Wednesday riding with your friends. The venue of these barbecues change from backyard to backyard, place to place but no matter where it is, it always feels like home. The people are great, the mood is sweet, always a good day.

I would like to give a big thanks to the vollies and volunteers from Sorca for hosting these events every Wendnesday. They're great at what they do and deserve big appreciation. A thanks to Cory for all the help. Keep an eye out for the red and black C4 jerseys this season. See you out there!
