Copper Harbor, Michigan juts out into giant Lake Superior at the top of the United States. There is a magic about this town with 90 full-time residents. The scenery, the people, the bugs and the bike trails blew us away and hooked our hearts. (The bugs tried to eat our hearts). Kirt (Voreis) and I were lucky enough to experience this great place when I partnered with the Copper Harbor Trails Club to create the first ever Copper Harbor Women's Weekend mountain bike clinics. From Friday-Sunday we had 60 women on mountain bikes learning new skills, improving their confidence and shredding magnificent trails. We definitely left our mark on this magical place, and we'll be coming back for more! Everyone should put Copper Harbor on the list of must ride destinations!!
** Due to popular demand we added a clinic for men with Kirt. It sold out. Men like clinics too. They were pretty stoked.
Not exactly what I meant during the coaches training when I asked Kirt to demonstrate unweighting over the logs. The coaches wondered if they were going to have to demonstrate it that way. hee hee
Ladies always laugh when playing bikes and being inspired. Ladies on mountain bikes: 60. Copper Harbor population: 90. You do the math.
You'll have to take one of the clinics to see why Angi carries a rubber chicken.
Kirt showing the boys racer moves.
Lindsey demonstrating the teeter totter.
A shuttle full of colorful nameplates. Not number plates. Awe. Love.
Boing Boing go the ladies. Hop it like it's hot.
They call me coach Lindsey. I'm so lucky to meet the women I meet through mountain biking.
Muddy nameplates. Sweet.
Angi says this before we take group photos sometimes: "Make the face you made when you first caught air!" - I am thinking this is the face she made.
Lindsey teaching rock slab climbing.
I could not have made this clinic happen without Copper Harbor Trails Club and Lori Hauswirth!
Definitely couldn't have made it happen without this woman. Sara Salo. Rode her bike across the US promoting healthier food in schools. She called and asked if I wanted to run a clinic in Copper Harbor. Then we made magic.
Not a bad lunch spot. Lake Superior.
