Troy Brosnan Interview

Aug 29, 2011
by Fraser Britton
The defending Junior World Champion is on a mission this year. After winning the rainbows last year at Mont Ste Anne, the Adelaide, Australia shredder has been getting faster race after race, culminating with his first World Cup podium in Val Di Sole this past weekend. Pinkbike caught up with Old Man Rivers in France as he prepared for World Championships with the Monster Energy Specialized team.

Troy Brosnan is a blur every time he gets on his bike it seems.
Brosnan was a blur every time he got on his bike this season. World Championships is right around the corner, and instead of the dirty white leader's jersey, Brosnan will wear a set of rainbows as he defends his title.

As serious as a heart attack when he s on a race track. 1 more to go this season. Are another set of rainbows in the cards Good luck Rivers

bigquotes"There's been a couple of tracks like Ft William and Val di Sole and Mont Ste Anne where big is better but... there's been a fair few little dudes going fast this year...It's whoever has the most determination and whoever is going to lay it down on the day, whoever wants it the most really. It doesn't matter how big you are or how small you are." - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized

First race after winning a set of rainbows can be a bit stressful. Brosnan tackled Africa with a smile on his face. A few days before the team found some local tracks to break in the new bikes on.

bigquotes"Another set of rainbows would be cool... Last race of the year, might as well go out with a bang I guess!" - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized

The story of the day... Troy Brosnan was 6th one spot off the podium at 17. Big things to come for this guy.

bigquotes"I want to thank Mom & Dad for letting me come out and travel for 6 months out of the year and them not seeing me too much. Definitely Sean and Jacy for running this pretty sick team as well as Brendan and Sam for helping me out my first year juniors and helping me out this year. It's been amazing. I couldn't have done it without the whole bunch." - Troy Brosnan, Monster Energy Specialized

Pinkbike would like to thank Troy for taking the time out of his World's preparations to talk to us. It's all business for Brosnan for the next week and we wish him the best of luck in defending his rainbow stripes next weekend in Champery, Switzerland.

Hey panzer103, unfortunately for you you're going to have to get used to that face because in a year or two nobody is going to get close to him for a very long time. He's unf**kingbelievably talented. He probably has less than half the body strength of most guys and can't smash stuff (yet) like most, but watch his runs on Freecaster, he makes time up by taking lines that nobody does and he takes them razor clean. He basically never crashes, dabs or gets loose. The kid is a combination of Hill and Minnaar and might just be better than Nico. As Pagey said during his VDS run, "I've never seen anything like it" and I completely agree.

Best of luck to Troy this weekend! He's such a good rider to watch (as is Bren-dog) and so talented. I actually loved it last week seeing him get on the podium and beating loads of guys with way more experience than him Smile
Fair play to him and all the best!

Having a strong emotional reaction to a seemingly neutral stimulus (the face of someone you don't actually know) would likely be explained in psychology by the phenomena of "tranference." Something to explore perhaps panzer103 or, as is more common these days, medicate if it becomesa problem.

just if someone know : where can I catch some stickers with name and flag? (as they do have on bikes and as on a Macbook if you have the chance to grab a few for nothing...)
thanks in advance...
  • + 1
You can get your own name stickers made. The team Monster ones were about $3 each on clear 3m film, in volume. Not cheap!
