Truvativ Sea Otter Classic Course Walk with Team Giant

Apr 14, 2011
by SRAM

The Giant team is a fresh one with old faces. Even the youngest of this crew has had some great results this season and last. Some stylish wins are expected from this team throughout the year. Next stop WC DH 1 in South Africa.

Below the Giant team walks us through their thoughts and actions on the pristine Truvativ DH course. Danny Hart sends the new quad, Neethling needs his snacks and Riffle looks lean and mean! Watch and learn or just take notes for the weekends race.

Every Ride Has a Story.

Hardest working kid on the track today.

Always on point. Never not. Race ready and lightning fast. He can keep up with Carl and Kelli yet slays on the DH track. Renaissance man ?

First critique of the course. Post tombstone to tranny discussion.

Choose your own adventure. Race run you scrub. On a Wednesday Hart gets boosted.

Hart wanted more in this zone. We were done. He was not. Nasty whip.

I'm too drunk to taste this whipin'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuR1u0pjR3s

Classic Sea Otter move. Session, hike, repeat.

  A gaggle of Giant riders.

Matt Thompson about to out coast the Giant team

Perfect form to a T. T stands for textbook.

Hot off his pro GRT win, this 19 year old takes a lay of the land before he makes his moves.

Neethling and Riffle testing the double double out of the giagantic bermzilla.

Watch and learn kids. If you’re in this picture find T Sage at Sea Otter and bug him for a free piece of swag.

  Riding that train.

photo
Working out the kinks. Riffle chats with the administration about course tweaks for the follow practice days.

Personalities are shining through. Danny Hart, Duncan Riffle and Andrew Needling.

photo
Look close and check out the ink. Riffle spent some time under the needle this winter... Check the chest piece next time you see him.

Group shot. This is just the start of the season but only time will tell if this team has the heat. After last weekends sweep of the mens podium we're off to the races. Can anyone call the Sea Otter Classic Pro Mens podium?

 Gwin's in South Africa currently.

 lol you're right... i lose
  • 2 1
I don't think Gwin could out pedal Graves on this course. And I bet graves rides a hard tail. From the photos it looks like you could.
  • 7 1
Graves hardtailed it last year, and seriously flew. (Like he blurred time and space.)
  • 6 1
I think he rode a 3 inch yeti 4X suspension
  • 2 0
He went so fast, I sure couldn't tell. All I had was the collective murmur of the crowd that was shocked and awed at his speed. They all mumbled hardtail...

I find it funny how they're all running 01 frames, not 00. Not that they're any different, just the 00 is there flagship model.
  • 1 0
Not really strange if you think about it. Giant team is Sram sponsored this year, and the 00 is Shimano/Fox. Also, they're color coordinated. Still, not the factory bike really. "Just pull another one off the shelf."
  • 1 1
Fair enough. The frame's are sold the same as the 00 aswell. The colors from last year were way better though.

Not digging the black and white. Laguna Seca scenery has some amazing colors and they need to be shown. Plus almost every shot is overexposed.
  • 1 1
Seriously dude? These shots are excellent. The exposure is meant to be that way.
  • 1 0
Yes dude, seriously. I don't like the shots. Get over it.

can anyone ride the course or is it racers only?
  • 1 0
It's racers only. They pretty much make the DH course unrideable when Sea Otter is not going on.
  • 1 0
is anyone aloud to ride these trails at sea otter?
