Tuf Rack Fall Classic - Sept. 24-25

Aug 12, 2011
by Tuf Rack

The first annual Tuf Rack Fall Classic is quickly approaching and is looking like an awesome way to send off the 2011 race season. It's going to be held on September 24 and 25 at Sir Sam's in Halliburton, Ontario on a custom built course specifically made for the event by the Tuf Rack crew and their deep bag of machinery. There will be a Downhill and Super D race as well as big air and sickest whip contests.

Sponsors include: Tuf Rack, Transition Bikes, Chromag, Ontario Air Cavalry, Creemore Springs, Twisted Sticker and Lockwood Chrysler. Make sure to mark it on your calendars, cause this is going to be an event you won't want to miss! Check out the poster or go to www.tufrack.com for more details!

The idea behind Tuf Racks is cool, but at nearly 1 grand for a 4 bike rack (for DH, its about 850-900 for other kinds), they're just way too expensive. North Shore racks are several hundred dollars less, take every kind of mountain bike, and work amazingly. I can't recommend them enough.

Also, the event itself seems really cool though. Calling it a "Classic" is a bit presumptuous, but if they run it for a number of years it could be totally justified after a couple.

it's actually around 850 for a 4 bike dh setup.

tuf racks are slightly more expensive than other racks because they're fabricated locally using the highest quality parts and materials. after adjusting suppliers recently, prices for all racks have gone down with the most expensive (DH) being $199.99 and the smaller ones getting progressively cheaper. Receivers range from $40-$75 depending on how many bikes you want to hold and desired rise. Also after buying one tray every following tray gets a 10% discount. Finally there is no plastic, rubber, velcro, or cheap aluminium tubing--making Tuf Rack one of the few racks to offer full warranty on all parts.

They're more than slightly more, even at $850. And being sponsored by a brand kind of eliminates your ability to vouch for them, no offense of course. They seem like a great product, they're just pricing themselves out of the market at this point.

fair enough, i'm certainly biased. but it also constantly exposes to me to a really solid product that is worth every penny.

i'm not trying to chirp or force anything on anyone, but when you're dropping +/- $850 on any 5-bike rack to hold 5 DH bikes ($2,000 a piece at least) at highway speeds, its definitely worth a look to keep your investment secure. but in the end do what suits your application

Is there going to be different classes or just one open class? Will there be prize money? Will it be run like an O-Cup with official timing etc? Any age restrictions? The website does not provide much detail.
  • 1 0
there will the standard categories from all the O-Cup races with the same general schedule (practice sat/race sun). there ill be prizes from our sponsors as well as cash, and there will be timing in place and the OCA is fully onboard.
