Hope Sam will do better, even if I doubt about it, it would be so nice seeing him kicking ass again Like when he was injured and came back for the world champs and won it... awesome
I guess this year will be Ratboy's year, with permission from Danny Hart. Minaar is having fun doing backflips and superman seat grab, his mission is done. Gwin doesn't find the feeling with the Demo, looks fast, but Ropelato is faster than him.
@haledavies123: I started riding bikes in '94 with a Kona Cinder Cone wich I still own. IMO I'm not a "newschooler". Anyway, I don't f*****g care about your slug opinion.
^ are you just asking to be neg propped?? This year will be closer than ever as more and more people are closing in on Gwin, I wouldn't absolutely count on him taking home the title
^ You'd be surprised at how many kids really care about "props", haha. The World Championship is what determines who wears that neato jersey and some people believe that World's is the most important race of the season. I am one of those people. Also notice the HATRED people receive for saying Gwin is the best or along the lines of he's going to win again... bro like SO many neg props!
Gwin was and is one of those shock and awe characters in the circuit right now. The way he raced so blisteringly fast and consistently was truly something to reckon and for a while, no one had an answer to him. Doubt few still do. But, and there's always a but, beyond pulling seconds over the second place in some courses, what he has showed the sport is that there is still a way to go faster; through their own means and training programs, racers like McDonald, Smith, Gee, Minnaar, Ratboy, Sik Mik, Hill, etc., are closing in the gap because now they too have seen what blisteringly fast speed can look like via Gwin.
Gwinny is gonna be fast, believe that, but he is not going to be the fastest man out there anymore. These boys are hungry and I'll be damned if I don't see Hill of Smith or anyone else in that podium.
Saddle up everyone, this year's world cup is gonna be one for the record and history books.
I'm predicting a battle between Danny Hart, Steve Smith, and Gwin for the overall. Gwin will still win some races, but being on a new bike and messing around with wagon wheels in the preseason will have him a little off.
Minnar is racing for World Champs in PMB, I don't expect much from him in the overall since he won't get world cup points from PMB like he usually does. He can't be at his best psychologically after Fabien dropped him twice in the enduro race. But will we see a 650 V 10 at PMB...and will this be the year we see a 29er debut in WC DH? Santa Cruz has all those tall guys...
Ft William will be an exciting battle between Gwin, Hart, and Gee...can't wait.
You won't see a 29" DH bike. You will see a 650B DH bike though, but doubtfully under Minnar. Watch Special-ed's interview with Gwin and the boys and their reaction to wagon wheels in DH. Gwin laughs at the idea and the rumors. Pure marketing.
It's on PB's front page. Just search Gwin and you'll see an interview with him, Rope, and mighty mouse. Also, bring on the neg prop PB haters for not being able to stomach the truth. Gwin says no. Minnar says no. PB says yes, apparently. Bunch of goofs.
no hate. i think its clear 29ers dont have a solid future in DH. not just due to hype too - actual performance advantage of 26 over 29 in real gnarly DH situations.
Wasn't referring to you. Just some clown who follows me around because his panties got all twisted up over a mental beatdown.
And I agree with you, and apparently a lot of pros do as well. I mean the hype was surrounding the 29ers in the past few months with people saying "I told you so" when Gwin won Sea Otter on a 29'er. Then in an interview he and the guys laugh at the idea of racing 29ers for actual world cups and he states 'No' and gives his reasons.
people dont realize the sea otter dh and fontana dont hold a candle to world cup tracks. Not taking away from the spectacle of sea otter, but people regularly win on 4X rigs at sea otter. you cant do that at Val di Sole
Im rootign for Hill, Bulldog, Stevie Smith, or Troy Brosnan. Hill because a comeback would be sweet. Bulldog cause I like his style and how chill he is. Smith cause he's a likeable guy and he's got the ability. And last but not least Troy Brosnan cause he's young and it would be sweet to see him up their with the big dogs.
they are so fast. mitch ropelato with raced a local race this weekend. did a chainless run for fun, got a 4:10, i ran a 4:08 with my chain, and i came in second in cat 1. pure redonkulous
Wc teaser without information on race #1? But, thanks for reminding us what mt biking looks like! Lets hope for some epic coverage. New player works mas meyor!
Fort William Podium wish list, with emphasis on the wish part.
Peaty to win qualifying and then be last man down the mountain with Bulldog, Sender and Minaar at the finish line in the hotseat...
And he's out the gate... flying over the top boards... sketchy moments on the rocky switchbacks... and through the first split only .035 down on Bulldog... the crowd going wild all the way down the course... he's looking fast through the motorway section.. and is still only .2 down at the second split... he comes over the final jump, and the cacophony of noise erupts from the waiting throng... he's bursting his lungs, Warner is going apoplectic..
Great race Fort Bill, always will be the best of the season.
I don't think this season will be all gwinn again. I think he will be top 5 at 5 or 6 races but not being as dominant. It really seems everybody stepped up their training in the off season to try and give him some competition
what i would like is HILL to win the cup, but watching the gwins video that redbull posted i just don't think that anyone stands a chance there seriously he is like MAD MEN.
........conspicuous in his continued absence from the podium is maybe the best answer.
Come on Brendan, put a season together for your fans mate, they are hanging out for one...
Some may say it may have little to do with the injuries and more to do with him lacking whatever it is that people like Gwin, Minaar, Gee and others seem to have in spades that consistently keeps them on the podium. Are they "better" riders than Brendog? Impossible to say, however they have that something that Brendon, injured or not, needs to find.
Obnoxious? Yes. Am I fussed? No. Perhaps next time You'd like me to break the mold and refrain from comforming with the rest of the useless nonsense that is muttered on these forums/boards.
Regardless of the teary nights from negative props, I will still look forward to being able to cheer on an athlete from my home at the Fort Bill UCI World Cup.

And that was such a sick video. Cannot wait for the WC season to begin!
