USA National Championships 2011 - Kintner and Ropelato win DS

Mitch Ropelato and Jill Kintner have won the Dual Slalom at US Nationals today, Neko Mulally 2nd and Cody Kelley 3rd for the men, Darian Harvey 2nd and Jackie Harmony 3rd for the women.

Lear Miller and Logan Binggeli fighting it out, Logan advanced.

and then Cody Kelley took him out to claim 3rd place.

 Slalom is back! This will likely be the first of many National titles for Ropellato. Is this Jill's first one?

 That's what I thought as well: 13 men racing at the US champs, that's not really impressive. And it does not support the claim that dual is by miles better and more popular than 4X. Claims that annoyingly were repeated when the UCI decided to boot 4X.

At the Swiss 4X champs last month, we had 15 participants in men elite. And that's for a country with 7 million inhabitants, and the two top dogs were not even there as they prepared for the Olympic BMX test race in London.

Anyway, props to the new champions, whatever style of race they have won.
