It's all fun till you try to take a girl back and you have to explain to her that you live in a van down by the river
  • + 34
 Well.. la de freakin da!
  • + 8
who needs girls when your travelling around dope spots and riding your bike
  • + 27
You obviously havnt been down to Sb bc those guurls freaks.... a van is more than enough for dim chicas
  • + 6
Bender dose it, girl two dogs and few bikes! Bender is the man!
  • - 3
where are you gonna take ur shower now.....
  • + 10
 He takes golden showers
  • + 6
I'm pretty sure he doesn't live in the van and he has a nice and charming house for him and his 29er
  • + 19
Deodorant = Shower in a can
  • + 2
He's not living in that thing.
  • + 10
Yeah, but how great it would be if the girl liked your van down by the river and liked your bicycle too.
  • + 3
 ocean = shower
  • + 2
I would have had that damn cameraman pick me up at the bottom in that sweet van.
  • + 5
 save rent!
live in a van!
=
buy moar bikessss!
  • + 8
You'll have plenty of time to live in a van down by the river, when your living... in a VAN down by the RIVER!!
  • + 3
This guys is clearly sleeping with his bike...
I just don't understand why he parks at the top of the hill rather than at the bottom? It's always better to finish with a descent than a climb.
  • + 1
mtbforlife4 - thanks for that video...hilarious. He didn't mention anything about his bike...hmmm. Chris Farley was awesome!
  • + 59
please stop with this song. it's a great video, just try something original for the music selection
  • + 20
Aw, I haven't heard in it in a bike video in at least..well...a couple minutes Smile
  • + 12
Dude, so with you on that. It was a great song and I'm really sad it got so murdered by everyone in so many edits. Song choice is important and their are so many other options out there rather than just whats popular. ugh makes me sad they chose it, but otherwise fantastic edit.
  • + 5
i agree, it was an amazing video... with the sound off.
  • - 1
Yeh, i like it better with no sound.
  • + 2
A regular past time here on PB, is to comment on videos that use "Radioactive" as a song choice in videos. Wink
  • + 2
First thought through my mind too. There is some great shots but i could only think that i have heard that song in too damn many videos.
  • + 2
Another with you on that. It was looking so good: van... short travel bike... even a perfect coffee. But then boooo - all ruined by a poor song choice.
  • + 0
You know you're on Pinkbike when somone only has to mention "that song" and everyone automatically knows it's 'Radioactive' lol
  • + 33
Anyone have a van for sale? Because I just watched this and quit my job.
  • + 6
yep... only you'll have to come to australia to get it.
  • + 1
can i park it in your front yard?
  • + 2
I've always wanted to take a road trip to Australia!
  • + 3
^ i dunno what road your thinking of...
  • + 1
I've always wanted to take a road trip to Hawaii too!
  • + 2
lol youll still need that job to afford bike gas food parts etc
  • + 1
pffffft, thats what kashing out the 401K is for Wink
  • + 24
i did the van life for a year. except it was a POS 1985 club wagon rusting and busting at the seams with with a few pairs of skis, too much climbing gear and an old steel hard tail. all i can say is do it, you wont regret it. stop wanting, hoping, wishing and start doing. living in a way that allows you to literally bring your life with you where ever you go opens the doors to so many opportunities you'd never encounter living at home or in an apartment. dope video.
  • + 3
When in your life did you do it? After high school, after college, after losing a job? I want to soo badly but I know coming back to society is inevitable and don't want to screw stuff up.
  • + 5
I did it (for as long as I legally could) Bought a Van in Waco, Texas, drove from there to California. Ended up making lifelong friends when I did it. Even rode the trail in this video! Best time of my life. Makes me feel old knowing that it was exactly ten years ago! I think it was that trip that made me move to where I am now, CanadaSmile (From the UK originally)
  • + 3
Its only a year "lilandy". A lot of people take a year before Uni. or after to explore one's inner self. If I hadn't, I'd hate to imagine what would have become of myself. Do what you WANT to do and when you are done, do what you HAVE to do.
  • + 3
Gnarggles NAILED IT!! I've spent at least 4 months per year the past 4-5 years traveling around PNW riding and living outta my mini-van (used to be a beat up Toyota pick-up before that....)
There's something to be said for lively simply and chasing your dreams!! Great vid!!
  • + 3
i plan to live out of a westfailia van!
  • + 1
after high school I bought it for $900. and yeah like richierocket said, its only a year. your not in the boonies the whole time either, you have to resupply and get gas in town. coming back to "society" is inevitable, but you return with a different appreciation for everything around you. it an invaluable lesson everyone should learn. and some chicks actually do dig the van, im speaking form experience.
  • + 5
The reality in the UK: went up North Wales first DH after the snow was clear off the uplift road 2 weeks ago coz I just had to ride, - slept in the van down at cyb and it was -3! I wouldn't really call it sleep :-/
  • + 1
how much diesel would it take to leave engine on at night?
  • + 1
wouldn't make any difference, it's a panel vito with full steel bulkhead: no heating in the back. ICE BOX!!! got an electric blanket now :-)
  • + 7
Wow.... Surprised no one is complaining about the 29er! That's refreshing
  • + 3
29er shred hard...it's the new reality my friend.
  • + 2
I didn't notice it was a 29er until like halfway through... by then I didn't even care the vid was so sick
  • + 6
So sweet! Now thats a life... I want, want, want(please don't tell my wife I said this)!
  • + 5
i want one off those vans. a ford f350 super stroke, with a straight axle swap. 40s just like 3inch lift. mini camper set up. gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ferd 150000
  • + 3
It was only a matter of time until the van made it onto Pinkbike...Ryan too. Having spent a significant amount of time in the back of that van...I can confidently say it's the greatest bike vehicle ever. I can't believe the spoiler is gone though. Only thing that would have made the video better is hearing the van chugging up the hill. Also....BEACON BOMBERS!!!!! 29ER FURY!!!!!
  • + 1
 BEACON BOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • + 4
I live in a Van so to speak, but it's in British Columbia and it's called the best place on earth.
  • + 2
Am I wrong to think Ryan Gardner doesn't actually live in a van? I mean I think he may spend a few days or weeks in it while going out and exploring but I think he eventually goes back to house or apartment of his.
  • + 2
i wish that riding is my job, living in the van, riding all day, going on the road trips with your buddies..fuck till you wake up and realize that you have to go to the real job and just watch this dream life
  • + 5
Living in a van down by the river.
  • + 2
If the Van was a Mercedes Sprinter like this ...

www.creativemobileinteriors.com/sections/portfolio/sprinter/Boersma/800/P1000320.JPG

I could live in a van.
  • + 1
 I like this one better:

Dodge Sprinter?Mercedes with dodges grill no wayyyy!
  • + 1
Daimler owned most of Chrysler/Dodge from 1998 to 2007.
  • + 2
Now you're talking a van that you can live in! That thing willl drive way better than an RV too.
  • + 2
Lovely trail - but how did he manage to ride the whole day without even a water bottle on the bike. And yes, I know that song because its been used before...
  • + 2
Don't cut lines. Riding off trail on that steep section to the trail head is what causes blown out trails.. Other than that, a great vid.
  • + 0
I love my van, gotta say the van in this video sux... no telly, no rotating seats, no hand crafter storage, no solar panel... lol. I cant wait until the summer and week day evening rides in the mountains, sleep in the van then back to work for a shower before starting a hard days work. Loved the trail and the riding, but that song, no more please, no more.
  • + 2
You clearly missed the point of this video.
  • + 3
Sure can rip on those wagon wheels bro.
New meaning to "living in a van down by the river"........lucky duck.
  • + 2
this is the first time I have seen this song used in a video in a way that it really matches it and works well, good job.
  • + 1
I gotta say Anthony Messere's segment in Strength in Numbers was a pretty good match for this song but definitly agree with you, this was good!
  • + 10
thought this video would be cool, but as soon as I heard the first "ooohhhoh," I instantly had to leave the page. Enraged, I came back and left this comment.
  • + 2
Has the fact he is a Supergrass rider anything to do with the fact he is a Gardner?
  • + 3
Who leaves their door open at the trail head?
  • + 2
 Someone who makes a movie.
  • + 3
I love this trail. Good to see it in film.
  • + 2
Dope trail! Stoked to have this in my backyard. Santa Barbara rules! Now let's see him bike up tunnel trail.
  • + 2
Great video. But I believe that song is a little worn out for videos & commercials
  • + 1
I was a van guy for 15 years. It took the sting out of being homeless (few bouts of hard times). No one messes with a van guy.
  • + 2
Just puurrrrrchased an ex Police riot van for this very reason Smile
  • + 2
lol At the beginning I thought he was going to ride in his slippers
  • + 2
First time seeing the satori in a vid of this nature! Looks great.
  • + 1
Can anyone from Santa Barbara tell me what trail this is. Ill be in SB Sunday and wanna hit that trail! PM me please.
  • + 2
the video is san ysidro and it sucks. Ride tunnel, knapps, or coldspring instead
  • + 1
I dirtbaged for two years traveling to bouldering areas but never for biking
  • + 2
awesome video. this is what I want to do once I get out of the military.
  • + 1
weird question, but does anyone know what riding shoes those are?
  • + 1
Thats what the 200lb+ club looks like putting the hurt on a trail!!!
  • + 1
the dream to live, no constraints!
  • + 1

  • + 1
