Celebrate and support the mountain bike community with a new painting of your favorite athlete.

My name is Jared Fry. I'm a Vancouver BC based artist. I've had the privilege of collaborating with some amazing photographers to create digital paintings of some of the best riders in the game. With the goal of capturing the athletes' distinct character, I try to add my flair to the image celebrating the moment, the riders' style, and the magic of the sport.

After spending almost two years working on painting studies in the evenings after my kids are put to bed, I have now created a collection of paintings with the opportunity to use them to benefit the biking community. These images are now available for purchase with a large portion being donated to the Stevie Smith Legacy Foundation, the Kelly McGarry Foundation, and the Red Cross BC Disaster Relief Fund. Each art print, poster, or sticker sold has 30% to 50% earmarked to be donated to one of these charities.

I would like to express my gratitude to the many talented photographers that have supported this effort including Clint Trahan, Ale Di Lullo, Sven Martin, Sam Taylor, Bartek Wolinski, Paris Gore, Toby Cowley, Bryn Atkinson, Duncan Philpott, Ian Collins, Matt Staggs, Ryan Finlay, John Gibson, and Shredder MTB Zine.

Thank you for your support!

Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement! I appreciate the feedback and I will continue to add to the series. If you have suggestions for who you would like to see painted next, please let me know.

Some of these are insane! Actually who am I kidding all of these are incredible. My favourites would be the ones of Remy, Semenuk, T-Mac and Zink.

 Semenuk is always the best...
  • + 3
I think they're all my favourite but that T-mac one is so iconic with the exploding camera is just the top of the cake of goodness for me

Incredible. Would love to see a couple iconic moments up there. KM on his legendary backflip and Steve’s wheelie across the finish line.

Sam's drift around that grassy corner, Danny's whip in the mud, and Cedric's backflip too!

 They are beautiful.
But are they painted with paint?
Or are these highly modified digital images.?
I do modified digital images .
You can actually push pixels with smudge and other various tools just like you can with an actual paint brush.

@sshredder thank you! These images have all been painted in photoshop using photo reference. I couldn't do the rider's justice without the collaboration with the many talented photographers.
I use brushes that emulate traditional medium and start from a blank canvas. With my limited free time and space to practice painting, the digital medium gives me the chance to experiment and train in traditional techniques with the aid of digital tools. I plan to paint in acrylic or oil when I have some more room and time to focus on it.
I spend around 20+ hours on each image and tend to cycle through them returning to older paintings to improve them after learning something new with fresh eyes.
I appreciate your feedback and support! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Jared has been one of my best friends since grade school. We have grown up riding the shore with all the icons of the industry. So stoked for him with this initiative. The talent this man possesses for all things art related is mind blowing. These paintings are legit and take many hours to create so please support him and the great causes he is representing.

As a part time landscape painter myself I have never really seen a sketch or painting of a biker that looks any good but yours are brilliant. You are very talented! Love the flicks of colour around the rider and wheels. They all capture the moment perfectly in your own interpretation. Personally love the semenuk, Moir and the Jake newell one. Top work

Incredible. What is even more incredible is how unmistakeable these photos where from who they were. The artist was able to capture the style of the individual riders. Not just their face but their body language. Bravo.

Painting is for me when you start with a blank canvas. It should be created from ground up with reference image at the side. If this is how he done it then he's very talented, digital or not.

I have known Jared for over 20 years and this man has always had serious talent. These are all incredible and knowing that a portion of these goes to one of 3 causes is just the topper. Keep up the great work buddy

I love the detail in the eyes, especially Jill Kintner and Miranda. The Stevie Smith on Heckler's Rock is my fave by far though.
  • + 3
Sam Hill would make it a complete collection (GOAT) but well done sure, very cool drawrings.

Gorgeous work! I'm a professional glass artist and these paintings have inspired me to try some biking images carved into glass Smile

From the paint of Semenuk you can clearly say it is him without any capture. All others as well. Perfect work!

They are awesome, if you do a different stevie one with less half naked men on it I will def get one. not sure the wife would appreciate that one. The semenuk one is amazing
  • + 3
The Stevie one is about the context of the race, not about half naked dudes (shirtless dudes).
  • + 1
@CaliCol: I understand that, and appreciate the picture. Sadly it's not one I would really be able to put up at home.
Will likely get the semenuk one

 Holy crap those are good!

I love the looks, personally I think they'd be even better without all the product branding though!
  • + 1
Eh, I think it just makes it authentic giving it's inspired from famous photographs
