I opened this up expecting a upbeat pumping battle with some crazy jumps and drops fast paced shots, minimal slow mo and with faint background noises of the bike and moto. Did not deliver. That said from a production point it was awesome I did like the concept but personally it made me extremely bored.

no doubt. for the title you'd be like "dude!" but it was completely underwhelming....like a lame advertisement for Tide detergent for "guys who get dirty on the trail." Lame...
  • 15 1
Agreed! One freeride MTBer + one freeride motocross rider + epic location + helicopter + multiple camera angles + a high budget actually = boring...?!!!!
  • 11 0
oh god, why did I look at the comments first. lol now I can't decide if I even wanna watch it.
  • 2 0
I almost shut it off til they crossed paths at 1:45. Didn't know what I was watching.
  • 3 0
For an advertisement it actually wasn't too bad. Could you imagine if something like this came on mainstream tv?
  • 2 0
I don't think it's that bad... It's just a faceoff between 2 Freeriders... Like in the western movies, they just oppose each other and draw. Allthough, I must admit it's not really their best shot...
  • 2 0
Yeah but they should've done a game of bike style of faceoff instead of some boring riding in slo motion with only about 30 seconds of big hits.
  • 1 0
 True !
The picture shown at the start (Video-Title), really sums up all the duel-action in just a single snapshot...
  • 1 0
 was a single trick thrown?
  • 2 0
 Dat last shot tho...
  • 68 4
How exactly was that a face off? It felt like a never ending intro for an awesome edit that doesn't actually exist.
  • 8 0
 we feel you bro
  • 3 0
I didn't think this was the actuall edit, I though it was the trailer. Apparently not...
  • 11 0
They should have done something like this instead: www.youtube.com/v/KqBy1R7IMGE
  • 2 0
For sure! I'd never seen that video before, but I've always wondered what would happen with a moto vs. bike on a dh track.
  • 2 0
 @SintraFreeride: THIS is awesome!
  • 1 0
Still... McCaul wins. I prefer going down over getting high.
  • 2 0
 lol@dingo-dave
Was that a double entendra or is that just me?
  • 1 0
Just enjoy it if you think it is.

wow, different industry…same amount of keyboard warrior a-holes.. We busted our ass to make this thing happen against brutal weather and a short timeline. All you people want is something you wouldn't even think about getting off your asses to make happen. It really is a bummer to deal with a bunch of ungrateful pricks.

Sorry rendawg, the bar for even a little web edit has been set pretty high by our freeride brethren: Doerfling, Aggy, Hopkins, and DH'ers like Kovarik and CG.

A lot of us love moto just like mtb. We don't get many crossover's like this, so it was bound to be judged on a harsher scale.

Think about what happened with our movie "Where the trail ends". Arguably one of the greatest freeride films to come out in recent history, and guess what? Even segments of the target audience badmouthed it and acted like "ungrateful pricks". The riders in that film risked their lives in remote locations, and put down some of the best big mountain lines we've seen.

People simply don't take into account what even a short edit like this takes to make happen. It's judged solely on entertainment value, is this a good mindset to have? Maybe not, but that's the reality. I hope you don't get a bad idea of us MTB'ers just because a few keyboard warriors didn't appreciate this.

Every one is hating because Ronnie's roost from his moto was 10x bigger then anything they have seen a mtb do and that's all these monkeys want to see. They simply could not process that much dirt being displaced so they revert back to primal ways and hate on things their underdeveloped brains can't process. Follow me was the greatest freeride film in recent history, and everything has gone downhill after that. Where The Trail Ends was so boring because Steven Peat did big mountain riding better 12 years ago. Ace's High monkeys
  • 3 1
Hmm. I respectfully disagree with your opinion regarding Follow me and WTTE. Follow me was great, but not the greatest freeride film ever imo. And WTTE boring? better big mountain riding 12 years ago? I just don't agree. lol
  • 3 1
I guess anyone who has a negative opinion are automatically ungrateful pricks. I don't think anyone is downing your film quality its a brilliant production but the content/concept is underwhelming. Call us all pricks if you like but you're in an industry to get consumers and unfortunately unless you can take these negative opinions on board you won't be able to produce something more appealing to wider audiences.

In no way am I and I hope no one else is discrediting the work that went into this or the brilliant camera work and production. What has been chosen and the concept, its been beautifully put together. The issue is while that's all well and good if the concept is brilliantly put together but doesn't entertain and the concept it flawed iteself it won't matter to the consumer.

We are a target audience and you have been given quite a lot of feed back, instead of getting pissed and calling everyone pricks maybe take it on board for next time.

Recent history and greatest of all times are two totally different things.
  • 1 1
I don't give a hawtdawgin shizzlestick what the keyboard warriors say. This short film coupled with the music was so epic that I almost got teary-eyed
  • 1 1
It was cool... no need to get teary-eyed over it though, ya big baby.
  • 1 1
Btw, moto roost and mtn bike roost are two totally different things. You have this thing called a motor and a throttle. We have a crankset and fixed grips.
  • 1 1
Ha! I am a big baby though. I get teary eyed for epic bike shots. Oh, and explosions.
  • 3 1
@RendawgFMX - you' expect us to believe that this video was made for our benefit??? I wasn't born yesterday- that video was made entirely for commercial purposes. If you put an edit on an MTB site and give it the epic title of 'Faceoff'- then people are going to expect big things. Sorry dude, it just didn't deliver. Then to go on there and call your audience a bunch of pricks? Classy.
  • 3 2
well @gavlaa , I know why I drove 12 hours and busted my ass for 4 days in the cold rain digging and building jumps…. Cause I love it and had an opportunity to film a cool concept with one of the best mtb riders on earth, with some of the best film equipment made. Sorry to see that the FREE 2 minute video u watched didn't shiver your timber.. If it wasn't for sponsor support it wouldn't have happened. You must be the type that enjoys corny and brainless marketing.
  • 3 0
^^ Rendawg, you really should just be grateful that what you do even gets this much exposure. There's plenty of people here who bust their ass just as much doing things no one will ever know or care about. Take the criticism on the chin, instead of alienating fellow two wheelers.
  • 1 1
@Rendawg - If I enjoy brainless marketing I would have loved this film- it was void of any real content yet Fox still put their name to it. Your desire to be offensive and personal with your insults makes you come across as a bit of a muppet. They say you should never meet your heroes.

Cam is pretty much the coolest guy ever
  • 15 0
 "Wing tatoo on my forehead"
  • 7 1
Why all the coolest guys in the business look like they're the biggest hippies ever? Cam's flower power hair... Ronnie's stache...
  • 5 0
They know about life … PUNCH OUT YUPPIES AND SEND IT. …. killtrail.com
  • 1 0
Holy crap lol everyone should click that link.. So HARDCORE!!
  • 1 0
^^^ Zimmer is right lol killtrail made my day
  • 1 0
@tworldsmine - maybe because most of us riders are quasi hippies at heart. I'd like to think were all kindred spirits who love the earth, love shredding dirt, and aren't some egotistical macho dudes who feel the need to inflate themselves. Ever met a hippie who wasn't down to earth? neither have I. and that's the way mountain bikers should be - the mellow surfers of the trails
  • 1 0
Someone might hate on the idea of Freeriders identifying with hippies, but it's totally true for me. This last year I rode a lot, spent days and days outdoors, never shaving or getting a haircut (who cares when you wear a fullface all the time?) and pretty much all my money either went to my bikes, gas for my truck, and food/beer/smokeables. Spending all day getting grimy and in touch with nature? Being in love with flying down mountains on top of a human powered machine? Sometimes not caring about laws or regulations telling you where you can roam? Sounds like a hippie to me!

It's bad ass to see moto and bike come together. Looking forward to seeing more moto and bike collaborations. Both sports have so many similarities I think there's a lot of potential in working together. Props to Renner and McCaul for being some of the first to bring a budget to it and starting the ball rolling.
  • 2 0
great concept thought it might be better than it was but maybe in the future they will come back with something else. Im pretty stocked Renner has got into DH, moto is the nearest sport to Mountain biking in my eyes and its cool to see the crossover.
  • 4 0
A better face off was in "Rad" when Cru and Christian battled to "Send me an angel".
  • 1 0
 thats some classic knowledge there...
  • 2 0
Cam "Django" McCaul vs. Ronnie "Harmonica" Renner
--> No guns, no tailwhips (my opinion, not Tim Kemples) but sick shots!
  • 1 0
Long slow drawn out video for the two pretty cool lines. The side by side step up and step down was sweet as with the over under line but the video could have been 30 seconds and a hell of a lot better!
  • 1 0
That was a huge let down given the huge amount of resources avalible.

I could only imagine what some of the "amature" videographers that are regular contributors to this site could created with this concept.
  • 1 0
Why can't everyone just post to & then embed from Youtube? Every other player seems to just suck monster ass.

I think Cam was grossly under repped here & I think Renner's stache is very silly!
  • 4 2
They should of given a high five through the air, way to long a video just for that one jump..
  • 1 0
That step down/ step up shot was amazing. And you gotta love the intro. Nice break from the typical "film the road", "unload the bikes", and "spin your crank" intros.
  • 3 0
Guys are microwaves, Girls are ovens. This video is definitely oven.
  • 2 0
cool idea... definitely brought a smile to my face
  • 2 1
was expecting more from the names....still pretty sick though but i think that has something to do with cam mcaul
  • 1 0
Odd video! Crosser going up DH Bike going down pretty much summed it up. Could have been so much better!!!
  • 2 0
Made me realize I need to pedal. Otherwise I get bored. Good job CMac,
  • 1 2
so if this was a face off- who won? freeride moto or freeride mtb? I think since we have to muscle and pedal our bikes instead of a little twist of thee wrist, it should go to freeride MTB!!!! mccaul-boss but so is renner!
  • 3 0
Not very good was it ?
  • 1 0
The best thing about this video is Renner's mustache.... Other than that, poor showing Fox....
  • 1 0
video is way to short for the promo. should of been at least 10 min
  • 1 0
More in you face than face off
  • 2 2
typical of FOX over publicized and subpar performance... but I do like videos with bikes.. bikes are goooooood....
  • 1 0
ok in this video the motorbike has made more show...
  • 1 0
 wow, this was terribly boring..
  • 1 0

  • 1 2
any 12yo with a go pro coulda done better
  • 1 3
Man, moto will always be better than mtb. Stuff you can do on a moto is awesome.
  • 3 4
half of it was on flat Frown
  • 4 5
Half of it was to flat..
  • 2 4
Glad I read the comments before (not) watching the video. Sounds like I saved myself some disappointment.
  • 4 1
Its definitely still worth a watch. It was more of an over-hyped marketing fail.
  • 1 1
 Lame!
