Aaron from MTB Cut is at it again with day 2 from the World Championships in Canberra, Australia. Riders are talking more about the course and I'm not hearing too much complaining.
peaty deserves it.... its gotta be his year now surely? would quite like blinky, gerg or gee to take the win aswell though... and maybe fabian for the cheek of using a single crown... think he should do it on a DJ bike though, would be rather amusing
yeah i think this tarck is all about hitting the right flow to the course. should be interesting to see who does take it. could be anyones aye. i mean if you were to misjugde one of those jumps thatd screw your whole flow equaling a loss. cant wait for the racing to start. go the kiwis.
Someone might have said this already but Im not sure how fair this race is :/. Im no expert but if the short travel bikes are faster on this course then it is unfair on the riders who are sponsored by companies who dont make DH orientated short travel bikes. I may be completly wrong... but its just a thought.
I guarantee you no short-travel bike will be top 10. Most DH pros can enter a pro field in super D on their full squish bikes and take the win. These are the bikes they are used to, and their suspension is so dialed that it wouldn't be any advantage to hop on a shorter travel bike.
Barel will not only top-10, but I could see a top-5 on a single crown under his guidance. I'm sure he did plenty of "research" last year during the WC race there. I'm curious to see how it all unfolds.
Lopes is racing the DH so run to Vegas, baby!!! It's a tough call for the win. You KNOW Peaty is going to go with all guns blazing. Between this weekend and Mt.Ste.Anne next year, he's running out of chances, IMHO. Then you have Barel who you can NEVER count out. After that, add Minaar, Rennie, Kovarik, Gee, Gwin (yes, I went there) and a handful of others that are all capable of pulling it off. CAN'T WAIT!!!
lol the day one video had the interview with gee and he had such a relaxed attitude and was just like yeah i just got here today i wanted to stay outa this place and in sydney as long as i can, doesn;t seem like hes taking it too seriously
No it's a race, anything can happen. I'm just saying he's at a slight disadvantage compared to riders like Minnaar and Peat who's got loads of pedaling power.
Looks better than last year... Still pretty tame compared to St. Anne or Ft. Bills.
Should be interesting to see who podiums.
Rennie is my favourite after his time off.
i'm not into dh racing but from what i see i think security crew use whistles when a racer is coming and it means "get off the track people and watch out, no crossing track etc".
It means " be aware ! rider on the way !". I've worked on the Course Security and if you shout all day you won't last long, that's why we use whistles ;-)
yes, the whistles are to warn people that riders are coming down the track, also marshals (as there called here) have the ability to close the course for a short period of time(red flag) if there is a crash to stop other riders hitting the rider on the ground
If a Rider has to stop due to a Red Flag situation during Qualifying or Race then he will be allowed to restart his/her run. There are also Yellow Flags but they are only used in training to warn of a problem ahead and are not used in Quali. or Race times. A Red Flag will only be used if the Rider doesn't or can't get up themselves .... then it's serious :-(
I'd vote for Barel as World DH Ambassador! Always something positive to say and been around long enough to speak intelligently about the concerns in the sport.
i'm calling danny hart
And local favs. Dean Tennant & Rob Fraser bring it home guys!
