A land largely unaffected by the progress of man, the Tetons Range and the surrounding areas are a pristine ecosystem inhabited by a vast diversity of wildlife spreading across multiple national parks. Uninhibited by foothills on the eastern side the range rises sharply and splits upper Wyoming and lower Idaho in two. On one side sits Jackson Hole, home to the legendary ski area and playground to outdoor junkies. On the other resides the Teton Valley: a landscape dotted with hay farms and the small rustic towns of eastern Idaho. Smack in the middle, off the pass that separates the two, lies some of the most progressive mountain bike trails in the America. Local riders teaming with the Forest Service have created a network of trails designed and built specifically for riding. We explored both sides of the pass and rode varied terrain from purpose-built bike park features to backcountry singletrack clinging to the edge of 10,000-foot peaks. The experience instilled a sense in us that the locals have got it figured out hereā€¦ and the need for a satellite Yeti office in JH.

Nice edit of my local trails which I build and ride every day. Skidding through all of our berms is frowned upon however. You can rail all of those berms without destroying the trail. Our soil gets really dry about halfway through the summer, and although everyone loves drifting through the berms, the locals try to rail instead to preserve the trail.
  • 20 4
He's only skidding 'cause he has the previous model saint brakes! Jokes aside, don't wreck trails.

 You cant bike Yellowstone Frown
  • 6 3
I was thinking the whole time, Why is he doing that! Looks cool, used to drift on my BMX as a kid, but I think those days are over! Other than that great vid that made me want to visit in the summer!
  • 10 4
I feel like every time theres a video of some yeti riders they always get shit for ripping up the trails haha. although it looks cool its definately kind of a dick move on their part for sure. =/
  • 9 5
I'd like to add, I have not seen either of these gentleman at any dig days either...

@tetonlarry We were definitely rough on the trails and rode really hard when in JH. Most of the pass riding shots were taken late last summer when the trails were incredibly dry and dusty. That being said, we made sure to repair any and all damage we caused. Also, we donated a large sum of money to the trail advocacy programs in the area to keep the trails rolling in good condition. We couldn't be more impressed with what you guys have done and definitely want to support the scene up here.

That last berm shot killed me... I just wanted to see him rail through and hit that exit lip. Instead he scrubbed off all his speed and blew out the berm. I hope your words ^ are true Joey. The place is gorgeous and definitely on my lottery-fantasy-bucket list!

/\ great response Joey! Awesome to see someone actually come back and lay down the facts to people that clearly have no clue and are shooting from the hip. Way to set the record straight on a situation that could easily get blown out of proportion.
  • 12 6
Larry you have a very valid point but don't sit here on your high horse and try to call out these guy who are just as passionate if not more about trail edicate/advocacy. You and the other locals have done a great job, but don't turn into an angry local.
  • 1 0
As someone really interested in heading to Jackson for a riding trip, can you recommend some trails for me?
  • 3 0
A lot of the Yeti people have spent more time digging than most! Good edit you guys!
  • 4 2
@first comment, I was thinking that every second I watched the video. As a trail builder, that shit sucks man Frown

@joeyschusler I'm sorry, but putting one foot out and clamping on the rear brake isn't really riding "hard".
  • 7 1
Where I come from, drifting turns is how we make the burms bigger Smile
  • 9 3
I'm a trailbuilder too and if someone made such an awesome movie as this on my trails I think they would earn the right to shred the shit out of the trail! Are you not happt to see YOUR trails in such an awesome edit?!? What's wrong with you?
  • 3 3
 Agreed! ^^^
  • 5 1
Bottom line is we are all locals and visitors to somewhere.....EVERYONE needs to respect each others precious riding zones! Mountain biking is still a 4 letter word in some parts.....
  • 8 1
I didn't really expect this to become such a big deal. All I'm saying is that if everyone rode our trails like that, they would be destroyed. I appreciate Joey's comment, and honestly I'm not too worried about it. I was happy to see an edit of my trails, then dissapointed in the way the trails were treated. There is nothing "wrong with me" and I am not on "my high horse".

@clamber: Just go to Wilson Backcountry Sports when you get here and those guys will tell you about any traill you like. All of our trails are legal, and we do not try to keep them to ourselves. We have everything from girlfriend friendly XC to Freeride, to DH.

To set the record straight, yeti showed up to make this vid and then proceeded to dig a section of unauthorized trail to accomadate their most immediate needs. They raided the local builders tool stash to do this. and when done , left the tools scattered about , like children would. These actions got them banned from the trails. Only after this banning did they decide to donate a ' large ammount of money" to the Freedom Riders. No damage was repaired by any one but the pro crew of the TFR. Bottom line , Team yeti needs to act like actual professionals when traveling or risk being shuned. Shun ON.
  • 1 1
If that's true, I stand corrected
  • 1 2
this is why Yeti never wins anything major! they spend all their time railing berms!! hahaha!!
  • 3 0
This may just be me, but I just cringe every time I see a movie that shreds a good trail just for the special effect. Mostly because it sets a bad precedence to other riders that see it and thinks its ok to do the same thing. Worse if these guys don't attend trail days.
  • 2 3
Glad to see a good response from you Joey. I know you guys are just as much about preserving as riding. Thumbs up for a great high quality video!
  • 13 0
Yeti has some of the most beautifully shot Mtb videos. Nice to see the aluminium SB 66 get some attention again.
  • 9 1
Trailbuilders be scared...very scared if you see the yeti truck posted at your local dh trail. Cool vid nonetheless
  • 3 1
yeah, because they will build unsanctioned jumps off your lines and the trail boss wil be super pissed. like the last time they came up to jackson.
  • 1 1
It sucks for Jackson! they said that was one of their favorite spots in America! looks like they will be back!
  • 6 0
That part of the country is unreal. Coupled with Yellowstone, it'd make for a pretty sick bike/regular vacation.
  • 1 0
 Agreed!
0:54, never seen anyone drinking pabst with a pinky upSmile perhaps hes met the queen

I was lucky to experience the Tetons as part of a pretty epic road trip. Didn't have a bike with me but it was certainly one of the places in the US I think you have to see. It doesn't hurt that Yellowstone is next door. This video makes me want to go back!

I make a point to make a trip here from Montana at least twice a summer. It's always so fun to session the pass for days. They didn't show a whole lot of the jumps in here, but they do have some of the best built stuff I've ever ridden. And by the way those trails are dusty enough by now stop locking up the brakes!!
  • 3 0
Hilarious to see E-bikers riding around with Fox 32's to keep their weight down. Good to see a SB-66 with a beefy 36 even it, god forbid, adds a few grams.
  • 3 1
stoked to see a proper edit showcasing the good my hometown has to offer but also kinda pissed someone made an edit that makes it look so good...its a dirty little secret=)

Definitely going to miss the roadtrips there from Montucky.

Dang, now why did my ancestor sell all his land there long ago (jackson hole)..
Wyoming looking real good, especially if liz Cheney replaces the old rhino holding the senate seat!
Hmm, to buy land in idaho or Wyoming?
  • 1 0
RINO Mike is not. Good guy and a strong advocate for small business...like bike shops and guide services.
  • 1 0
The Tetons are a special place. Some of the biggest, gnarliest lines I have ever skied. Some of the best trails I have ridden. The fishing is great. I have been making trips there off and on since I was a kid. Nice vid.
  • 1 0
Cool vid, but would like to see the guys whipping some if those big jumps up there. That's what I was most impressed with when I rode up there. Huge, legal jumps without signing a waiver...sick!
  • 1 0
I've always wondered what the trails were like in the Tetons. Amazing scenery around there. I'll have to take my bike next time.

Why do all of Yeti's edits involve shredding the f*ck out of the trail?? Can't you ride that without skidding?

The problem is when the kids watch these videos they go out and try to "drift" the shit out of every corner they ride and destroy lovingly built berms. I get that it was late summer and I know how end of summer trails get a serious beat down (lack of water in the dirt), but watching this video makes me want to keep my shit secret.
  • 1 0
Agreed. While I appreciate the dramatic effect it has and the sheer work that probably goes into shoveling more dirt in for said effect I just wonder what the kids think. When I go to some of my local trails it's all evident what they're influenced by. Maybe I'm just jealous I can't do it.

This sb66 with freeride setup looks sick. Why the hell Yeti doesn't sell this bike with those settings ?

 interesting sb66 with rc4 and float 180.....
  • 1 0
thought it was a 180 at first too... could be a 20mm 160, though.
  • 1 0
Its a 180 in the first picture under the video, the lowers extend below the dropouts, it could just be the angle but I don't think so. It probably is dropped to 170. That would probably work alright if you were never riding it uphill.
  • 1 0
teton range looks amazing for winter and summer!
