I am happy that semenuk puts so much more focus on visual production and style than on comps. it is always nice to see him blow minds at crankworx but this is just incredible work all around.
lol, PB members have such a hard on for anything Semenuk. It looks like they took a bunch of b-roll shots and tried to be creative with them. I guess if you care more about filming and editing than the riding, this is your jam but this didn't do it for me. The downside whip to barspin and the manual on the DH rig were awesome but the rest was meh.
@scott-townes: His B-roll beats most of the other guys A-roll then I guess. No denying that the man is a magician when it comes to style on a bike... any bike really. Fanboy or not, the stuff Semenuk and Walker has put out in content has been some of the highlights in recent years if you ask me.
@thestraightline: On a BMX, not really. There were maybe a couple impressive shots in there overall but yeah can't argue that plenty of people are jumping on the "everything that Semenuk and Walker does is revolutionary" bandwagon.
@scott-townes: Are you really trying to talk shit about semenuk and walkers creative ability while you post nothing but shitty over done helmet cam videos? lol so creative and original.
We all know he is a beast on any type of 2 wheel action but would like to see more street bmx footage. Not sure if people really understand how dirty he is on a 20"
@nismo325: Where did I insult their creativity? You mindless fanboys are seriously entertaining but overly sensitive. I guess I better apologize for not finding their content revolutionary 100% of the time. Oh the travesty!
@scott-townes: who's being a tad sensitive now sir. Their edits are different and well made through and through. Content goes beyond trickery sometimes. Think of Terje Haakonsen and Nicolas Müller on a snowboard, they don't always slam out masssive tricks, but there is always style and finesse in their riding. When you add creative visuals to style I find it to be entertaining. Maybe you should buy a ticket to the nitrous circus, thats cool too, just different.
@scott-townes: eh I kind of agree with you (at the risk of infinite downvotes). I really don't enjoy watching Semenuk ride a BMX, he's pretty mediocre at it but as I understand it's one of the big influences for his riding.
I think the thing that's kind of sad to me now is seeing him drift into filmmaking and stuff more at the cost of his riding. He still does cool stuff when you can do 30 takes to get it right, but when it comes to competition he's clearly surpassed now (he looks a lot sloppier then Rheeder these days). That makes me sad only because he was a hero to me when I got into the sport, but you can't expect people to stay at the top of their game forever. He's happy doing this and to build a life around biking is an incredible feat, something I wish I could leave my dayjob for. More power to him.
@anchoricex: my thing with it (and this happened in the ski world already) is competition went more toward the spin it to win it mentality instead of style. and i think semenuk still oozes style on a bike compared to rogatkin and the other top slopestyle guys
@adrennan: I agree ,,, the level of style Sem displays is second to none. The judges are agreeing and we see that in Rogatkins scores. However if he cleaned up his runs, which I believe he will and continues pushing out bangers that's a tough call. Us from the BMX world love some bangers but even they have changed judging to be uber strict. Dennis Enarson is prime example, Style for miles while Kyle Baldock is whaling out some next balistic trick. Complete runs are winning it! Triple and quad combo's have been known to rival or beat a new banger trick also.
@anchoricex: I disagree with the second part of your post. He's one of the most talented riders ever on a bike. He could have the same tricks as Rheeder and more if he set his mind to comp. riding. Its less stress and more fun to film than it is to compete for a lot of people and being the best, he puts out the best content.
The thing I find funny is how PB members treat everything of his as the most incredible thing they watched since the last Semenuk/Rupert edit. If you don't, you're the most hated person. Its so great.
@adrennan: yeah for sure. style is subjective to all, I prefer how Semenuk rides over just about all the other riders but in competition setting lately he's a little sloppier at linking stuff together. I don't think many want to admit this which I also get, but I've noticed it. Emil/Rheeder hell even unstylish-Rogatkin are cleaning up their acts quickly on the bike and it shows. Semenuks not dedicating his time and efforts to competing anymore, though, so that's understandable.
@scott-townes: I don't doubt for a minute that he couldn't be where Rheeder is and beyond in comp riding, but from what I've noticed in the last 1-2 years is he's a little sloppier and less executed then Rheeder because his minds not in competition spirit anymore (which is totally fine). Rheeders devoted everything to making it to the top now. Built a house with his own course in BC much like Semenuk pioneered in the past, so it's expected that he's climbing in ability. Rheeder just lacks creativity to the nth degree, lol. Not that semenuk owns the backflip one foot can, or the fakie coaster off a drop thing, but jeez rheeders a little hamfisted at doing exactly what semenuk does.
Also agree that this is hardly the best thing they've put out video-wise. If anything it's my least favorite.
@owlie: I get what everyone's saying about @scott-townes first comment but just look at the negative infinity edit. That was probably the least riding in an edit I've ever seen and everyone just forgot about it.
He is right, the judges got together maybe literally and made it clear, old school combos win it this year. If Rogatkin slipped a pedal but through 3 bangers I would put him top 3 at least.
I'm just glad that the internet has given a platform for regular people to criticize both a fantastic piece of cinematography and one of the best riders on the planet simultaneously. This is our time people.
I just watched it three times- one for the left hand side, once for the right and again for the occasional shot that had three... It's effectively a 6 minute edit squeezed into two!
One of Revel's better projects! Conceptually, amazing, really well done, it's so balanced and unique. Had to watch it 3-4 times just to really comprehend everything that was going on. Brandon, Rupert, you guys are still killin it with these! Keep the vision going
Crazy - at first I found it hard to watch, with the dual action all the time, but once used to it, it's just double the content to enjoy! Great to see such a different visual approach.
Absolute WOW!! coming from years of BMX,MTB,BMX,MTB (Bit o skating too) stuff like this is something the MTB world is sorely missing, for those that don't understand, it's art. pure an simple. Art in the riding and Art in the concept and editing.
It's not all about comp results Long live free ride
What a masterpiece. No one in any other discipline let alone mtb is putting so much time and creativity into a web edit.... kinda makes me wish it wasn't a web edit almost
Umm......that was awesome. I can't recall a Semenuk edit I've ever seen that I did not think was off the charts. Great job by all involved in this. Now, to watch it again....
Rheeder is watching and ready to bite his edit. We have seen them all compete on 26", how about Sem vs Rheeder vs Rogatkin 20" just a fun edit,,, no Justin beeberino music though.
so. much. style. In the video as much as the riding! So interesting to see a creative new approach for the video. Kind of panicking trying to watch two videos at once but beautifully done! And yeah that track....
Pretty smart to have it sliced up like that. Will get a lot more views. I was watching it and thinking "man I'm going to have to watch this again and focus on the other frame to make sure I don't miss something" and then it hit me. Cool format for a video, makes you have to re-watch it. Good for getting views or just if you want people to take in the art a couple of times.
While doing a regular job I always say I don't even dream of doing riding as a pro , I would be the same happy just to be close to them, as a photographer for example.
.
.
And now here is Semenuk putting all together
.
.
Dream life, damn!
It's cool.. love his riding. Conceptually, it's different from what I'm used to seeing, but it has a art school feel to that their other efforts don't seem to have. Great effort, but imo, the their best work.
I could watch him ride for days though... and I'm sure I'll watch the next vid they do too...
Observations: @iancollinsphotography killed it. Video was tiny because the double down of split screen AND super thick border. Could barely see the actual video and imagery for the tininess of it. Glad I didn't watch it on my phone. Semenuk was mad at that guy walking by that looked like he didn't know he was coming over the rail. Song was different. Can't say I enjoyed it all that much. Could have been a minute of full size video i could see and keep up with.
Nothing to say at Semenuk riding and Rupert Walker creativity and filming. It is just not nice to watch with those split screen. And annoying to miss something...
My personal opinion, great riding, great cinematography, just an over all fantastic video but at some times it was just a little bit too much with multiple different rolls.
Best video/movie that I've seen in years (literally). Imagery, edits, merging, soundtrack, awesome! Loved the little mix of skating in there too. Bravo Revel and athletes, thanks for the share.
I was expecting some group action or at least some different riders with that title. Having said that the downside whip/decade thing is so sick in slowmo.
@darren853: Also, I can see a rider like Semenuck bieng a rider with enough clought to gets the bikes HE want's to ride from a sponsor rather than a rider that is marketed to promote what the company want's to sell
Am I the only one who's not a fan of this vid? I love Semenuk but it's distracting with 2/3 shots going on simultaneously, had to rewatch it several times and try to focus on each section

Check that out! That’s sick!
Wait! Over there.. Crap! You missed it!
Now you missed that one too!
Oo! Dope!
What’s that?! Sweet!
Continue cycle for 8 minutes.

I can’t say that I regret his competition days. Style over spin any day.
Brandon is such a sick rider. So smooth and precise
