$455 for a jacket? Kill yourself

It's a San Francisco based company.........they need to charge an arm and a leg just to pay the ridiculous office rent!

It's practically the business model for every SF based company. Some hipsters will buy it....Shit they wait in line for 30 mins to willingly pay $10 for a cup of coffee

Damn hipster mountain bike enthusiasts , i guess they do bring balance to the universe. My brother in law just got a 2014 Santa Cruz Heckler for a killer deal from a parent leaching-mountain resort living-earthy granola muffin. It was maintained like garbage, but cleaned up real nice!

How can anyone justify these prices?

I have a sneaking feeling that the negative propping seen here on PB is reinforcing to Acre/MW that they are doing it right (as in, being a Rapha/Outlier/Aether for the mountain bike market). Just at the right time too - as weather gets warmer and days turn longer, many Men's Fitness, Outside, Men's Health, Esquire, and other trashy bibles of male conspicious consumerism will be hawking this stuff along with $12K carbon bikes and $30K motorcycles and $90K cars.

If there were unanimous positive comments from PB, they would have to go back to the drawing board.

(disclaimer: I have an Acre bag, and its pretty good)

A waterproof vest...think about that...then add a $355 price tag. Try not to laugh or be angry. Betcha can't.

" I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence".....said the delusional guy who made a near $400 sleeveless TARP!!!

 haha acre-supply.com/apparel/jersey-crew-LINEAR.php. Only $62 OR $10 at Target, www.target.com/p/c9-champion-men-s-premium-running-t-shirts/-/A-16284701#prodSlot=medium_1_15.

Target stores will match the online price, so if you see something $1 or $2 cheaper show the cashier on your phone, and they will match it. Same concept; moisture wicking and blended material.

Seriously, a $455 dollar jacket which is a glorified wind-breaker can fcuk off. That's a new wheelset or brakes, or seat dropper and gas for a month.

PB -- quit confusing us with a bunch roadies! Wrong crowd. "Italian knit daisy jersies" oh, sorry "jerseys".

The ACRE line is out of my price range but I like this style of mountain bike clothing. If this were priced more reasonably, I would have no trouble choosing this stuff over the the teal moto and enduro style stuff that is out there.

"Before taking to the sea, Gorton was an accomplished mountain bicyclist of the highest order."

Let's think about this. Would you rather have a pair of xtr brakes? Saints maybe, Thomson dropper, XO 1 set (starting to be able to find these deals) or a hipster ski/moto jacket that breaths like a trash bag? Hmm... Tough choice!

forgive my opinion but did someone bump their head when you can build a significant portion of a bike for the price of a riding outfit?
  • 3 0
I was going to pop down to Aldi and get amongst there cycle gear, but this has stopped me in my tracks
  • 5 1
Forgive my opinion, but is this the clothing that style forgot?
  • 2 0
Ah, I see the dreaded back of the shirt creeping up when in attack position happening...shirt needs the back to be duck tailed.
  • 4 0
You'd have to sell off an acre or two to be able to afford this stuff.

I don't understand how a bike jacket can costs twice my ski freeride jacket that I can use up to -25°C...At -30° you don't go skiing.
  • 3 0
It's the Rapha business model all over again . . .
  • 2 1
and so the hipster thing crosses the final frontier and creeps into mountain biking. and OF COURSE it had to come out of San Francisco.
  • 2 0
It would be great to have someone from Acre chime in here and see if they can justify these prices.
  • 3 0
not one positive comment from the pb user base... probably a red flag...
  • 3 0
For 455 Ide rather have a Chris King Hub. These prices are just stupid.

New X01 cassette or a rain jacket....... yeah My $20 WalMart jacket still works well enough.
  • 2 3
This is high-end technical wear made in Vancouver. Not sure why everyone's going ape-shit over the pricing. You can't afford it, move on...

How "high end" can a sleeveless waterproof vest be Joeseven? C'mon man.... I've got a "high end" genuine sleeveless riding "jersey" that allows excellent airflow for the low, low price of $299.99.....Interested? In fact I've got a closet full.... come on down! Bring yer wallet!
