Video: Hitting up Plattekill Mountain

Sure, this quote applies to anyone involved in mountain biking in some shape or form and Adam Robbins is no stranger to this; actually, he is quite aware that he is living these words. Adam, 17, has been travelling across Canada and the USA to race various downhill event over the past few seasons. Clocking the kilometres to get clocked himself, that’s the life of a downhill racer from Ontario. Yes, this mentality does exist within all racers - travelling is a huge part of mountain biking - but Ontario’s lack of elevation (yes, it had to be mentioned) and our lack of a major race series results in most riders travelling all over the East Coast to race the clock.

Adam has been doing this since the age of 15, benefiting largely from being introduced to East Coast gnar at a young age. This side of North America does lack bike park-style trails, although some are starting to surface, and mainly features tight, technical, handmade singletracks consisting of a large amount of shale. Plattekill Mountain Bike Park in Roxbury, NY, which is one of Aaron Gwin's favorites, features this aforementioned East Coast gnar exclusively, with very few machine-built features and not one machine-built trail.
