Adrien Dailly has announced on social media that he broke his foot at last weekend's opening round of the EWS.

The French rider was just coming back from a dislocated shoulder last month but now his racing plans are on hold after a big crash broke his foot. Any injury is tough for riders at the start of the race season but two dislocated shoulders and a broken foot in the space of one month is a pretty tough start to racing.

bigquotesBig crash yesterday I broke my foot, I couldn’t finish the race. The tracks are sick here I hope to come back!
2 times dislocated shoulder and 1 broken foot in one month it’s not the best way to start a season…
Adrien Dailly

We wish Adrien all the best with his recovery and hope he is back on the bike soon.

@RedBurn: Although I agree with you, Curling is actually really fun. I would highly recomend.

Gutsy move coming back 1 month after a dislocated shoulder. I dislocated mine last month, and while no longer painful, it's still pretty floppy and useless. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

my advice is: (1) get a CT scan to confirm your glenoid isn't broken (x-rays won't tell the whole story). if it is, it doesn't matter how much physio you do, you'll keep dislocating; and (2) physio, physio, physio...do as much as possible (deadman hangs seemed to speed up my recovery considerably), and do NOT rush back. like concussions, successive dislocations are a bitch. speaking as someone who has dislocated 3 times in a year as a result of a broken glenoid that wasn't caught by x-rays...still waiting for surgery.

@scotteh: Thanks. I was advised that I likely didn't have a glenoid fracture. But I haven't touched any of my bikes in over a month, which stinks, but stinks less than re-dislocating the shoulder. That, and I've been obsessively researching shoulder braces for my glorious return to the dirt. Given the apparent extent of your shoulder injuries, any insights on shoulder brace experiences you've had would be useful.

@rodeostu: i was advised i didn't have a glenoid fracture either, but then my shoulder popped out a couple more times from very minor incidents before a CT scan confirmed that it was broken. could have avoided considerable soft tissue damage if i knew about it - strongly recommend getting a scan if you can!

i purchased an EVS SB03 brace (www.evs-sports.com/products/sb03-shoulder-support). it seems to help keep the shoulder centered in the socket to avoid impingement, but i doubt it's going to do much if you crash. it is reasonably priced and seems decent quality, just be aware that it runs small. i'm a slim 6'/170 pounds and usually wear medium shirts/armour, and the medium was a bit too small for me even with the adjustable straps maxed out. large fits well, so you might want to size up.

i also looked at the leatt brace, seems decent but read a few reviews that said it was overly restrictive and it was 2x as expensive, so i thought i would try EVS first.

@scotteh: That's helpful. Thanks for the tips and sizing info, which was pretty relevant, as I'm roughly the same size (5'11", 165).
