Crankworx's Air DH typically takes place on a bikepark's flowy, jump trail – just like Whistler's A-Line. 'Mr Black' is Skyline's version of that with fast berms and 32 jumps scattered down the hill right out of the gondola. Check out all of the must-see action from the race!
@yabbaDABdo: Yust make all of them live. Although you can rewatch a trick over and over, the tension when a rider drops in on slopestyle and not knowing what they're going to send and if they're going to stomp their run is just so much bigger live and thus it's way more exciting to watch.
I live in the US, but about as close to the border into BC as you can get. So you'd think I should be able to understand him just fine - and I do, but only if I'm somewhat caffeinated...
I agree Nino possibly could win, but seated power with med-high cadence is very different from standing power with super-high cadence...I think BMX champs have the edge here..or maybe Peter Sagan could crush it.
Another bunch of top athletes being milked for viewership and getting nothing in return. In what other sports does a world class athlete get on the podium for a $500 Cheque. Mick Hannah makes $1000? C'mon. Seriously? An average greyhound dog gets more. Give me a break. The bike brands, Redbull and others are creaming while the athletes are risking their lives. We all know what drives revenues and its obvious that in MTB the athletes haven't caught on. Someone should co-ordinate/organise these athletes so that they actually get a fair share of the revenue that comes from these events.
Oh, I realise what you're asking. There just isn't as many jumps on the DH, and this track has flow which I guess is what they are after. But it's a bit dull I the pros, I think
Its true it's not that taxing on the skills side however, its super fun, you can just roll the trail if you wanted but if you did that on race day then you'd be 60sec down on most capable riders. The most surprising element is just how much time you can make up by scrubbing & line choice, we're talking centimeters = seconds.
buffed out and smoother than ever... said no DH race ever... Bummer.
I guess its a different style of race, but still its the trend all over the board.
Don't worry son, 1 of 3 'DH' races to choose from. Redwoods (Taniwha/Team Line) was epic, Skyline (Mr Fuzz and the larches) has enough gnar for most (specially in the wet)
