Albstadt XC World Cup Course Preview With Jolanda Neff & Ric McLaughlin - Video

May 18, 2018
by Sarah Moore

Ric McLaughlin tries to follow World Champion Jolanda Neff on the technical, mud-coated Albstadt cross-country course. Jolanda Neff has raced every one of the six World Cups that have been held here. In 2013, it was her first Elite World Cup, and in 2015, she took the win.

Today's video presented by "Creak and Giggles". Great video!

I would lose my shit if my bike was creaking like that. Must be press fit.

@sevensixtwo: My OCD would have me off and checking the headset immediately. Awful!!

@amrskipro: pretty sure that was the microphone and not the bike

Such a great video! Jolanda also has the cutest and most communicative laugh. She seems like a great human in general, greeting people in English, German, Polish and French. Thanks for that!

 totally agree!

Jolanda should be the official course preview presenter! She has no problem talking and describing all the features and she has fun doing it too!

Great video getting to watch a World Champion truly enjoy herself. Kudos to Ric for his efforts and Jolanda for waiting for him.

Lol, Jolanda at 6:43 “It’s like peanut butter on some ice, MMMMMM”

Hopefully this becomes a regular feature of every XC World Cup race. Thank you Red Bull and Pinkbike.

Seriously, this shows not just what kind of fitness is needed for the climbs but also the amazing handling skills needed to keep the pace. Eye opener!

And those weren't 2.5" minions she was running either. Skillz.

must have forgot to turn his clutch derailleur back on. Otherwise impossible

@friendlyfoe: he was running Sram, no on/off switch on the rear mech like on Shimano
  • 2 1
@bosnianrider: oh, in that case then he probably hasn't put proper tension on it to get it to work at all. Mine was pretty useless from the get-go until l figured out how to adjust it - type 2.1. Bleh.

Jolanda laughing at Ric and taking the piss out of him wins the internet today.

What country do you think you're from?! Taking the piss....that's cultural appropriation!
  • 10 1
i think she set him up on that sprint, made sure he gassed himself for the rest of the lap Big Grin

Love it. 10:11, Jolanda's commentary whilst slaying muddy single track at eye watering speed: "Tee hee, tee hee hee hee."

She is just the best.

Pfft, who would want a world champs jersey, they don't even have pockets Smile

"I've managed to reel 'er back in."

A clear indication he'd gone into a state of hypoxic delirium.

Ric McLaughlin: hardest lap of his life vs Jolanda Neff: easy recovery & recon ride. Hilarious. Also as the EWS commentator get a chain guide on your bike! So 1995 to be dropping a chain when pedalling downhill.

"That was.....hilarious...." - ha ha ha. It's impossible to keep up with a world champ!

"it doesn't have to be fast to be fun" oooooooooh you smooth talker.

So I guess Ric is not a climber.

 Absolutely smoking chick, great video.

Was that a gen 2 sram chainring he was using?? Always looked like a mistake from afar, but this shows they really don't retain anything.

Like the frebrigade red frameWink Kross is doing fine.
  • 1 0
What're ye like McLaughlin lol!? Stay on your bike!
