How did the commentators miss Zink's blown rear tire?? You can even see it pop on that hip jump!
And congrats to Lacondeguy - what a boss!
  • 388 4
Because, like always, the commentators don't have a clue.
  • 58 3
yeah, i swear i heard one of them say "awesome" and "feeding of each other" lol. Oblivious.

and Smeneuk's oppo 3!! it was so clear it was oppo with al those replays

Everyone on this production is clueless. Love the snub Semenuk gives to the FMB Series when asked by the reporter, yet they kept mentioning it like it is a big deal. Announcers again were crap. This needs work RedBull. After the first run by Zink, one of the announcers even mentioned, "I think now I understand what the judges are looking for." You should not figure that out almost all the way through the first set of runs. Only buying 1 case of RedBulls for that. Riders were great this year! Personally I enjoyed this lack of wood much more than what we had last year.

Old school no hander is the term used about 10 years ago. Now it's called a tuck no hander and everyone does those. It's the suicide no handers that are old school now Razz

They might have missed some things or used terms that were a bit outdated, but all in all they really kept the vibe going and kept the viewers pumped. So in my opinion they did a very good job.

We all got to watch a rad live mountain bike event that cost a small fortune to put on, and people are bitching about the commentators and saying "Redbull needs to do a better job". Get over yourselves, and go complain to your mom that she didn't cut the crust off of the sandwich she made you. You aren't entitled to free events like this, and I'd guarantee a lot of the people whining wouldn't pay to watch it even if "Redbull did a better job". They'd just complain it wasn't free. Rant over.
  • 41 14
Free? You not heard of marketing? It sure as hell isn't an altruistic production. How many times did you see or hear the red bull logo / gopro stepdown / polaris rzr (whatever the f*ck that is) hip etc?

Actually I have a lot of respect for red bull's endorsement of mtb - they have helped shape rampage & take it to a wider audience too. Doesn't mean you can't critique the embarrassingly poor commentary. Even if it is pointless given it's intended for the NBC masses anyway.
  • 7 0
I agree about the commentating and even the riders seemed to feel kinda detached from all this media bull-crap covering the event, but screw that. What matters is.. Rampage happened! this thing doesn't happen every year, unless the big boss (whoever that is) decides so. Should be really thankful that it happened and even extra thankful if you managed to get there and see it live. You'll never know if this will happen again next year, so again, be thankful.
  • 39 4
It's pronounced FairCLUFF NOT FECKIN CLAW!!!! every year!! Can we get people who actually know the riders names one year?
  • 3 0
Psychik, i rewatched joyride on NBC yesterday when i saw that rampage was cancelled. I'm pretty sure they had different announcers for the NBC broadcast versus what i remember seeing on the live stream.

It really should've been 1st Zink and 2nd Strait. Not sure what was up with the McCuals, but if they we're there, and Wil White didn't get robbed in qualifying, It would've been an all American top 5! Not sure what happened in qualifiers, but I heard a guy from france poached his line. Not cool

The judges should rate Aggy's qualifying run. I bet he would have placed 1st or 2nd with it.
  • 24 0

  • 24 0
As Kyle Strait is dropping in on his last run this moron announcer says "he would like to do what many say is the hardest thing to do, win rampage more than once!" - major commentator FAIL.

why did Messere not compete this year?
  • 27 0
 Favorite line was mentioned already

1. these big bike are incredible hard to pedal. with every stroke they just get slower
2. these bikes have an incredible amount of travel on the front and rear forks
3. some of these bikes are carbon fibre and some of them are aluminium

and what was up with the background music on some of the runs.. .

ps. Can you guys can guess my spirit animal?

all in all a fun event to watch.
  • 13 1
Let's start this now for next year. Rob Warner and Claudio for announcers next year!! Otherwise I'm just gonna have to watch on mute or only POV clips
  • 8 0
If I had a dime for every time they said flow.... Dear lord I could almost afford the new demo :p
  • 16 0
My favorite line was during steenbergen's run "back flips are very easy"
  • 6 0
I didn't hear enough about the "natural drops" or "polaarrus razor hip"
  • 7 0
I liked when they mentioned "trickery" about 7 times.
  • 2 0
Krisnayer completely agree Warner and Claudio
  • 6 5
The announcers sucked ass, but even they knew that Lacondeguy's score was a little too high. It was a great run but not better than Zink, Semanuk, and Straight's. Even Rheeder was close IMO. Had Zink thrown in one more trick at the bottom, I think he had it. If Stenbergen nailed that front flip, would be hard to beat. That was insane!
  • 7 0
Don't forget how well people "connected" with things.
  • 8 1
Half of what they said is missing from my memory in an effort to salvage my sanity. Just some of what I can remember:

1. "Backflips are easy." (I know he meant relative to front flips.. but wtf)
2. "The bike did what it was supposed to do and absorbed the impact to save the rider." Bikes aren't @#%ing roll cages and definitely aren't made to deform to save the rider. .
3. Mentioning how unusually tall Kelly McGarry is at 6ft. I'm pretty sure that some other competitors were 6ft and that Kelly is way taller.

Come on, let's hear everybody else's favorite commentator BS moments. The winner gets a Boxxer.

  • 3 1
Im watching the replay now, how did herbertson get and 80 in his first run while fairclough and godziek got 76 and 74.5
Maybe I need to rewatch the run but it didn't look that much better if at all than those two boys.

zinks first run was a bit questionable that score imo. Only because he used the fire road, it killed flow and really hurt the overall run top to bottom, it broke it up.

But im not there with slow mo footage so ill trust the judges, but it appears a bit inconsistent at times. Easy to say for me behind a computer though Smile

Anyway back to rampage Smile

''there was a lot of pop on that backflip..rod''
  • 5 0
 "mostly running carbon wheels"
"the dh racers really need to focus on tricks more"

And people who say we can't complain about a free thing? There's many things that we don't pay for in which it's absolutely fine to critique: a bad host for the Academy Awards, a Pontiac Aztec that somebody else is driving, ANY mainstream sport televised on public TV, etc.

The point is that Rampage Is such an awesome event, but the commentating ruined it for a lot of people. It's like a restaurant with your favorite food(and open for 1 day a year), but the server was annoying as @#$% and wouldn't shut up as you were trying to eat your food.

Lol my girlfriend was like this doesn't sound like Tippie i'm like he doesn't do the commentaries on the riding.... Frown Shes a huge fan of Tippie and doesn't even ride hahaa.
  • 25 0
They referred to mountain bikes as both "steel horses" AND "motorcycles without engines". I feel like this is grounds for dismissal.
  • 6 0
I heard both of those and thought "holy f*ck, THIS is mainstream?! f*ck that".

So stupid.
  • 12 0
I'm afraid Warner would end up strangling Tippie if they spent more than two hours in the booth together.
  • 4 5
If I had to spend two hours trapped in a booth with Tippie, I'd strangle myself. Nothing makes me reach for the mute button faster than seeing him open his mouth.
  • 4 0

  • 158 7
To be honest the judges kinda blew it by scoring him so much higher than the next 3-4 riders on the rankings who were just as entertaining. There was barely any tension for the second runs as Andreu's score was unbeatable...

Something like "2014 Red Bull Rampage results" in the title would definitely be more appropriate.

Don't watch the news if you don't want to know the results! That's how easy it is. After the Superbowl no one is sueing the national newspapers for putting on the front page who won. People who don't want to know AVOID reading the news until they saw it. IMO Pinkbike did nothing wrong. The ones complaining are the idiots out here. Blame yourself, NOT the newspage.
  • 26 0
Only 365 days till next Rampage!
  • 32 1
What about Kyle? Super techy top part. Huge drop which he tricked. Mega style and speed on his flow part and then another trick on the razor? He had it all
  • 13 3
Guys keep in mind, a big mountain comp, not a slope comp. The best tricks or the number of tricks thrown throughout the whole run will not always be the deciding factor. I feel the judges did a solid job... aside from scoring Andreau sooo high, but that's semantics because he still should have won. That was incredible and anyone, watch a slo-mo replay of Zink's first 3, literally inches away from potential death. And Rheeder's backie off that drop was so gnar. yeeeew
  • 9 0
Yeah it cut off as soon as the live stream ended, gutted
  • 6 1
Kyle and Zink got the sickest top line and I think that ranked them so high. It's a freeride contest after all and their top line was pure gold. I'm not saying Rheeder didn't deserved more, but it can be an explanation.

Doesn't matter that Pinkbike posted the bloody results, if you were trying to watch the dvr stream from Redbull.com, they just cut it out without warning (I had only seen the first 20 minutes when it cut out!), and when you tried to reload the page all it would bloody show is the damn leaderboard with the final results! • 31 1
Aggy scored a 94 in qualifiers for the same line but with an over rotated back flip on the razor jump so why would a 95 for a cleaner line seem strange? No one questioned Aggy's score.

He seemed stoked with his run, but not with his score... I don't think he was playing it safe. Maybe not happy with judging? Just a guess.
  • 12 0
It just didnt make sense that semenuk and especially strait had similar lines to Andreu, and threw more tricks (suiciding the huge drop, and 360 a massive drop) yet they were scored no where near. I dont have any issue with Andreu getting the win, it's just the jump in scoring completly ruined any excitement for the second runs...
  • 2 0
As soon as Andreu finished his run the first thing the announcers did was downplay his run by speculating that his 2nd run would be more spectacular, like this run was just his warm-up. Then he gets a 95 and there is no 2nd run. Slight letdown but another great Rampage. Fairclough's run was my favorite, he was flying down the steep technical part and used more of the hill than any other rider.

I'd like to give a big thank you to Red Bull for everything they have done for mountain biking. You guys dump millions of dollars to throw the biggest and baddest events, you sponsor the best athletes and on top of that make it all accessible for the masses to watch for free. I can't thank you guys enough. This sport and community is without a doubt, better with your support. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. Please don't ever stop.

 So true.

However, please hire better commentators for the next rampage...

@juanzo, your wife won't be so stoked Rob to be commentating on your wedding, I bet. I still remember him commentating the chat of Brendog with Dana Elena Schweika.
  • 2 1
Wow. This stuff really does melt your brain. They're a sponsor who gets a tonne of exposure out of doing this stuff. Nothing wrong with that, but that's what they are. Based on this logic we should be thanking Malboro for all the support they've given to motorsports.
  • 76 16
Zink and Strait's line was WAY more gnarly! I honestly believe Strait's second run should have won, so smooth, so much style, tricks right through it.
  • 9 5
 I agree very much haha
  • 16 4
At least deserved to be above Zinks if not 1st
  • 2 0
Yeah. That top section all the way to the suicide was buttery smooth and fast
  • 17 1
they didn't show the gnarliest part of Andreu's line. I mean the second big drop. Also Semenuk's 360 was oppo!
  • 2 1
I thought he will be second.
  • 1 1
I was expecting him to become 2nd or 3rd aswell. But then again that's part of freeriding. It's all opinions, and not facts, like at speed racing.
  • 4 1
no way, Zink's 3 was massive
  • 6 1
It was, but a 3 doesn't win an event anymore...
  • 2 1
Kyle's line was really fast, I would've given him 1°
  • 5 2
A 360 is way more difficult than a suicide.
  • 6 0
But rampage isn't judged on one trick
  • 4 0
Kyle made it all the way down super smooth, stylish, and fast.
  • 5 0
I was there in person. Zinks line was ridiculously steep and his 360 drop was some of the craziest shit I've ever seen! The video doesn't do it justice.
  • 1 1
I agree, but while zinks line was shit f*ck crazy the last third of his run wasn't anything noteworthy (relative to other runs)

I say:

1. Kyle strait
2. Andreu
3. Semenuk
4. Rheeder
And zink probably 6th or 7th
  • 61 5
No one got robbed- Andreu's score was a little generous but he still deserved the win. McGarry is made of steel.
  • 46 0
 But not his wheels
  • 1 0
*LOL* Yeah. Luckily for him the wheels took the impact.
  • 12 0
4 wheels destroyed on the same jump

That was unbelievable how McGarry he just got up and brushed himself off like it was no big thing. That should have won best trick!
  • 1 2
 Semenuk got robbed twice: on.fb.me/1tdpYeZ
  • 36 2
Amazing event, amazing riding, but the commentators kinda ruined it for me. Still so stoked for Andreu!
  • 33 0
Congrats to Lancodeguy! But please burn those damn commentators at the stake with fire. Clueless and unprofessional with their negative comments on a bunch of riders.
  • 7 0
They were literally focusing on negatives of every single run, shit was annoying. One kept bitching about not enough "slopestyle tricks" and they in general just had no clue wtf they were talking about. I dont understand why they dont just get Brett Tippie and an injured pro to do it.
  • 1 0
It was very frustrating to hear "slopestyle tricks" over and over again. This was a big mountain competition not a best trick competition. Then to dog on the last couple riders talking about they don't have a chance was just unprofessional. Or calling out downhillers for having "just style and speed".
  • 36 8
 Strait got robbed!

Yeah, it may not be a great story for him to win two years in a row, but he no-handered Andreu's/Aggy's giant drop, his top section was way steeper and gnarlier, and he stretched a HUGE superman over the jump that Andreu cork-flipped (pretty comparable tricks in my mind).

Not taking anything away from Andreu's run, which was awesome, I just don't know how it beats Straits, especially by so much??
  • 25 2
The most impressive thing Andreau did was that big drop, Kyle suicided it!!
  • 7 2
 totally agree
  • 16 2
Andreus execution and style were way better!
  • 31 2
Zink left Semenuk hanging! No hi5 for him
  • 5 2
Zink had no free hand with two trophies to hi5 anyone and I don't think he saw Semenuk in fact.
  • 1 3
logic there mentalhead... he had 1 free hand when he put down the trophy, and it will be hard not to notice another guy blatently trying to shake your hand, high-five and poke you.
  • 4 4
Ye it was cringe to watch him keep getting shot down on the high fives. Maybe if he cheered up a little people would high five him back...... Never leave a brother hangin! Ha ha
  • 11 0
pretty sure he just didn't see him. Zink has no reason not to give Semenuk a high five on the friggin rampage podium
  • 5 1
@HutchJR, so you think Zink did that intentionally? I can't believe it. He was putting down his trophy at the same time Semenuk try to hi5 him, so he was looking at where to put the trophy and not to his left side. That's how it looked to me. Not a replay stream to verify, so I might be wrong, but that's what I remember.
  • 2 1
nah I mean I have no idea, it just seemed a bit like they were rejecting him :/
  • 30 2
Very happy for Andreu, but still gutted for Aggy. I wish Andreu and Aggy could have gone toe to toe on the same line!
  • 30 6
Congrats Andreu! Probably gonna get neg propped a lot for this but I think Semenuk got robbed just a little bit. He had a technical line, huge tricks considering the 360 off the drop was oppo and he had soo much steeze, speed and style. Andreu's line was sick too though!
  • 5 1
I think semenuks second run was very close to Andreus.
  • 6 0
Same here. I saw Semenuk on second spot with that run of his. Andreu finally won is also a great story. I was scared for his second run plans, actually...
  • 32 7
Sweet run. But not a 95. Kyle was just as smooth and technical and through tricks off his big drop.
  • 9 1
 agreed!
  • 18 1
After Kyle stuck the Superman in the second run I thought he was going to take the lead for sure.
  • 1 0
Aggy got a 94 in qualy on the exact same line with an over rotated backflip. No one was complaining then
  • 2 0
Because compared to everyone else in qualifying he stomped it.
  • 23 1
Andreu is a legend, the placings were perfect! Rheeder was a surprise beast for me. Van Steenbergen has balls the size of houses!!! Front flip attempt was off the Fucking chain!!! Best trick even with the crash.
  • 8 0
If only Van Steenbergen had landed that front flip. I don't think one trick should win the contest but that would of been hard to beat.

  • 13 1
Zink's line was good but you have to remember that he doesn't use the whole course, taking the fire road for a bit on both runs, in my eyes, takes away from flow and fluidity of the overall run. I agree with Andreu for number 1, but would liked to have seen Semenuk in the 2 spot, and by a closer margin. Ah well, we can't always have it the way we want!
  • 19 2
Which is why Strait's run was better.
  • 12 5
Strait and Andreu killed it. 1, 2 for me. Zink in 3rd for the top section and absurd 3-drop. Semenuk 4th. That's how I would've called it.
  • 3 0
 Ditto.
  • 5 0
Hotness of spouse is the little known fifth category judges award points for. You have so much more to potentially lose in comparison to other riders so the risk is off the charts. Zink does exceptionally well in this area which may explain his score being higher than Strait's
  • 1 0
Strait's gf is pretty darn cute too...
  • 14 2
I do not like Kyle Strait and I like Andreu and I thought Strait should have won.

My opinion
1)Strait
2Semenuk
3) Andreu
4)Zink

Zink had huge drop but literally high fived his way down the rest of the way

Strait suicide no hander the same drop Andreu did not trick

Semunuk had a very technical line.

Judges got it wrong, commentators sucked badly
  • 1 0
But it was still once again the best mountainbike event of the year.
  • 1 0

  • 1 0
I'm too an andreu fan but i think his run does not deserve 95%
  • 1 0
I rewatched it 10 times. I am still having a hard time with the 95.0 but Aggy took the same line in qualifiers and got a 94.0 and no one complained. I'm torn on this one. Rampage is about big mountain riding. This is big mountain riding personified. I love rampage for what it is, but is it a Big mountain event or is it turning into slope style.

  • 13 0
Clearly I would be a bad judge. 5+ point margin of victory? I don't see it.
  • 5 0
Yeah I think it kinda killed the event a little- it seemed everyone knew they couldn't improve their scores enough to take the win. I still give Andreu the win as he had a bit of everything- massive drop, great flow, moto style and a huge tweaked backflip. Props to Semenuk for stepping up his run- opposite 3 on that drop is crazy.
  • 1 0
I had him at a 91 score. Still beating everyone else.
  • 14 2
Tom, you're a f*cking legend dude! i'm so stoked for andreu, he deserved a podium result from a long time ago
  • 9 0
Ridiculous scoring, they scored Andreu's first run way too high in comparison to others, I have no doubt he would of pulled off something huge to take the win anyway. The scoring lead to an anti-climatic finish. Sweet riding as always though
  • 13 4
While there is still some classic routes, every next year is more dirt and less extreme dowhill. Not bad, but I prefer the old natural one. So much hand-made tracks, if you ask me.
  • 2 0
I agree so much, some of these features could have been in a dirt jump track they were that smooth. I loved andreu's and cams natural line tho, so sick
  • 2 0
Generally the upper sections were beautiful, becasue there are natural and steep. The lower ones look like a manicured jumps for monster trucks. ..but there have to be commercials and logos somewhere.
  • 11 0
Anybody knows why did Godziek not take second run? He had stuff to pull out after canyon flip...
  • 2 0
 wondering that aswell
  • 8 2
I saw the second run at www.sppycamamero.tv/online.tv Szymon scored 97.50 front flipping the canyon so smoothly. The Americans just could not believe that and they cut him out.
  • 7 0
Haha in China they showed a version where Lacondeguy, Zink and Semenuk are actually Chinese. Also sponsored by Red Army Bull.
  • 5 0
Do you guys think that he might felt not treated fair with his result and refused to go for a second run? If you look at the numbers, he got higher score in his pre-quali run and his run today was better.
  • 2 0
Can't wait to see the North Korean version.
  • 7 0
Watching the stream of it, Herbertson's and Godziek's runs were pretty similar, but Godziek kept better flow and better tricks, yet Herbertson scored better. I could totally understand Godziek thinking what is the point in risking another run when he didn't think he would be scored fairly.
  • 2 0
Judging At Rampage is always sketchy. Maybe judges like flannel shirts better than tank-tops...
Or maybe Szymon is new to them and he does not party with them. ....or, what is most probable, they are just jealous of his girlfriend KasiaZagasia Smile
  • 13 4
Tom Van Steenbergen made nearly perfect canyon gap frontflip. It was epic! And I am glad for Lacondeguy. He deserved the win.
  • 1 0
I think he lost orientation in the air, not being aware it is already the landing time so his body was not in the right position to take the impact. It was so close to clear it. After Grodziek backfliped it again, I was thinking nobody will ever front flip this thing.
  • 2 0
I think he came up a little short and as a reflex he pulled his rear brake, which you'd usually do in this situation on dirt jumps. The difference is that now he was jumping 5 times as far with 5 times as much speed, and that caused his front wheel to smack into the ground very hard, causing him to get thrown over his bars.
  • 1 0
Short? Front flipping prolongs the whole flight.
  • 2 0
I ment short in rotation. As in he underrotated. You're right, I didn't use the right words to describe what I ment.
  • 8 1
Awesome rampage but like many said the commentators really let it down, its as if its aimed at an audience that don't understand mountain biking/haven't seen rampage before?? • 6 0
Am I the only one who doesn't like this new sight? It seems like there is really only one good line and if you don't hit it you aren't going to score well. Especially after Andreu's run, that bottom half was just useless. Unless you hit the Canyon gap or went huge on the RZR jump you were screwed.

  • 8 0
That frontflip...Jesus Tom.. What do you thinking....
  • 2 2
If he wouldn't have pulled his rear brake he would probably have land it. That was a reflex of something you can do while hitting a dirt jump, but not on a jump this size with this much speed. I think due to that his front wheel smacked into the ground way too hard, causing him to fly over his bars.

Personal Opinion: I don't think Cam deserved to be on the podium. Yes he did throw down a massive 360 and traversed some crazy declines but that was it, the rest of the run he phoned in (like last year). Rheeder deserved 2nd much more than Zink did. his runs were dialed in and packed to the top with big tricks and flawless lines (mostly). I think these Judges should be all banned from judging anything short of a fashion show. Just imagine if Andreu didn't throw down that epic run and Cam won on that lack-luster run (minus the 360 and declines), those judges would've looked like they're were favoring Zink. At least what they should've done was after Semenuk's and Rheeders 2nd run; correct the score to the most deserving rider. Does Zink deserve best trick....that's debatable too, so many other riders going huge that didn't make the podium. (again I think the judges favor Zink and Strait). I'm sure I'm gonna get ripped for having an opinion against your lord and savior Zink but whatever I don't care, Its an opinion. Oh and I'm tired of the Zink and Strait show...so many other great riders this year that didn't get the credibility because they don't have brand names like those two. Anyone else agree, at least partially?
  • 1 0
Zink yes, Strait no, Strait's run was strait up baller - watch it again, it was close to if not as good as lacondeguys run
  • 1 0
Guess you can't expect Strait to win every Rampage. Also Straits run was very similar to last year...One huge No Hander and that's pretty much the only highlight. Andreu packed his run with not only huge tricks but tech lines and lots of tricks. That's why he won. Speaking of last year (and I hate beating a dead horse), I always thought Kelly McGarry deserved first more than Strait. He was the only one to flip the old Canyon Gap...EVER. He also threw down 2 other huge flips and very tech lines. He missed one jump at the end that the judges felt was the mistake that cost him the title. Meanwhile Strait (im sure i'll get ripped for this too) only pulled one massive no hander and the rest of his tricks were whips over moderate jumps, that's it. Goes back to what I was saying about judges favoring Zink and Strait.
  • 1 1
Your opinion is based on tricks alone. Thankfully there's more to Rampage (and mountain biking) than that!!
  • 1 0
Rampage ain't Downhill and it ain't Slopestyle its Freeride, and based on your profile you should know what Freeride is. You can't expect someone who pulls just one big trick to beat other riders who are taking full advantage of each run, not just whipping everything like you would in Downhill, which amazes me because neither zink or strait are Downhill racers, but they pull off more whips on their runs than most of the competition. Hell even Fairclough knows enough to distant himself of that during Rampage
  • 6 1

95 was a bit too high IMO. 90-91 would be more fair and could prolly convince him to do his 2nd. However, his run was flawless after all and included the 76ft drop nobody dared to hit, other than Aggy who got injured.. so basically, through the entire compo, Andrea was the only one to hit that fricking massive drop. Without belittling riders who hit the canyon-gap, that drop was a blind approach, riskier and therefore gnarlier.
  • 3 0
Semenuk does probably the world's biggest oppo 3 and the commentator doesn't even mention it and proceeds to bitch about how he expected more and his first run was better......DAFUQ

Got to watch the replay. Thrilled for the coverage - the event - the riding - all next level and a true evolution of the sport. Stoked. However...the commentating was not just disappointing, it was a downright embarrassment. It was a farce - a charade. No offence to these guys - I'm sure they mean the best and did their best, but the bottom line is that they are impostors. It didn't just detract from the event - it did violence to it. A few gaffe's I can excuse, but systematically spewing wildly inaccurate statements is just an embarrassment. Sorry, don't mean to be a D. The commentating has to be improved. There are many great options out there - figure it out!

Still don´t get why Zink has such an high swcore for that top section!
  • 1 0
Worst show of judging I've ever witnessed, at everyone's expense. People are doubting Andreu's run as a winning one, and rightly so! Straight not beating that run is daylight robbery, Andreu only hucked it 65ft at best and straight threw it 76ft with a variation?! However this isn't to say that Andreu didn't have more up his sleeve, I think he would have won with no arguments if he was forced to do a second run and earn it... And now we have this whole thing instead... So happy for Andreu, devastated for Straight and frustrated with the judges....
  • 6 1
 GRANDE LACONDEGUY!!!!!!!!!!!! Sick line...
  • 5 1
 Gongrats, Andreu !!!!
I hope next generation wheels will be "McGazza proof"
  • 1 0
Next year he should run pro core! Just saying lol
  • 7 3
Hell Yeah Andreu!!! Super Nice Dude and you obviously work hard, way to go man! Glad to see Norbs in the top 10
  • 5 1
Good on Mitch Chuby to hold his own and putting in a good effort with taking Aggy's spot!
  • 3 2
You guys bitching about knowing the results should know better than to come to this site until you watch the replay. It's your fault for coming to a mountain biking news website, you should have avoided the internet until then.
  • 2 0
But how can we find a replay without going to a website like this?
  • 2 1
Well deserved win. I thought the announcers were going to choke each other out. Hint: Less screaming and more accurate substance. I've never heard so many gaffs through an event. I think there were probably some guys that didn't make the finals who would have put on a better show, but glad that everyone walked or rode away. Much respect for all these young men. Brave Lads pushing it in the steep.
  • 2 0
Why not let the riders pick music for their run, like they used to do in skate comps? Or, like strippers when they get on the pole?

The announcers bring nothing to the table...
  • 1 0
Super crazy event! Shit was off the wall. Kinda funny how the biggest drop on course (by aggy and lacon,) wasn't on any of the short replays. What happened to Mike Mo. though? Come to think of it, what is he even up to these days?
  • 2 0
Judging was a bit sketchy, but I have to say Steenbergen is the hero of the day. The Canyon Gap frontflip was the most amazing part of the event. Heal up Tom, next year you gonna win!
  • 2 0
After Zinks first run when they interviewed him my favorite quote if his was when he said "I popped the slowest 3 of my life,....cause its a creeper." I found that funny the way he said it.
  • 1 0
Andreus run was good but I definitely think he got scored too high. I was literally laughing at the announcers stating the obvious on every run, vertical drops! Suspension! Downhill bikes specialize in going down hill! Carbon fibre wheels!
  • 3 0
How has no one mentioned at the female commentator did not suck for once?! GOOD JOB TINA WHOEVER YOU ARE! Not nearly as much of a train wreck as Dom or Jackie were.
  • 1 0
Kyle Strait...for some reason I wasn't expecting him to throw down so hard. Even though he's done the no-hander a couple other times, he just keeps going bigger with it, and it really is just totally insane. The best bit of technical line choice there at the top, too. More of that, please. The Strait/Zink line is a fav for sure.
  • 1 0
My top, 3 for this is Wade Simmonds, Ritchie Schelyer and Tippie, they are the godfathers of freeride, competed at the origonals event and know theyre shit, RB get these guys in, love Warner but leave him on WCs same with Claudio, hes great commentating from the bike, but behind the mike in the com box hes pretty tough work! Seems a real American thing to do use people who seemingly know commentating but know nothing about the sport if its outside of NFL, BaseBall, Basket Ball. Bit like in movies when the dirt bike is obviously a 4stroke yet sounds like a 2 stroke and vice versa, outside of the US we are not that stupid, I could pick up on that shit at 5years old. Stoked for Andre, he said he would do it and he did. Bit bummed for KG, would have liked to see him back up from last year, but dems the brakes eh!
  • 2 0
meh..............no way that was a winning Rampage run. Much better runs by the others. I thought speed did not matter? Only one trick and ya...he slated the mountain but that was all.

enter haters.......
  • 4 1
Where's the replay? The website only has the live feed which once it's over won't play again
  • 3 0
Semenuk next time I see ya Im giving ya the biggest of high fives. Sick ride and sick contest
  • 2 0
RAMPAGE ES LA FAKING POSTAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! HUEVOS GIGANTES PARA VOLAR ASI!!!! ANDREU ANIMALL!!! HOLY SHETTTTTTT FESTEJOOO!!!!
  • 14 9
 Strait got robbed
  • 1 0
now guys this may sound crazy end embarassing at the same time but i think i fell aspleep during some runs of the second runs due to jet lag from sedona to italy...missed norbs, semenuk, and zink..anyone for a quick review?
  • 13 0
Huck, flip, flip, crash, bigger crash, 360, crash, flip can-can, 360, crash, crash, buck, crash, fist-pump. Your're welcome.
  • 2 0
 hahaha
  • 2 0
Norbs nailed the line cleanly, throwing a 360 of a lower drop. solid run, but not as technical a line as many others, and no big improvement off his first run.

Semenuk also cleaned his line, including a 360 lower down, a tuck-no hander, a backflip one-foot can-can off the RZR booter. A bit faster and more style than his first run, with a couple extra (small) tricks thrown in. Sick run.

Zink stomped the ridiculous top part of his line, and the 40ft. 360 from his first run again (WTF?!?) then, again, seemed to skip the hand-built canyon gap that I think he wanted to hit, and rode the fireroad to the RZR booter, which he straight aired. No improvement on his first run.
  • 1 0
 Semenuk did switch 360
  • 1 0
thanks Big Grin will watch the replay
  • 3 0
Very happy for Andreu, I have lots of respect for him and he has nothing to do with the judges
  • 1 1
What gives RedBull just cut the stream for me after Cam Zinks second run!!! seriously the only reason i was late watching it was because the stupid player didn't want to work!! i'm buying a Rockstar next time i get an energy drink thank you not! at least thankful for what i did watch but seriously what a buzz kill!
  • 1 0
Oops spoke to soon! looks like i won`t have to buy that rockstar after all ! Big Grin u can watch it again here live.redbull.tv/events/448/redbull-rampage-2014
  • 3 0
well I miss spelled semenuk, Check it out PB mod people... I guessed her right,
Salute
  • 1 0
i see only 2 others that matched the standings. showing up in purple also that was an awesome rampage.
  • 4 1
this year winner is a real winner, no doubt..remember last rampage, gudges were asholes)
Lacondeguy f*cked tham all!
  • 2 0
Great riding, awesome venue, loved the more natural lines! No idea why they use the clueless ABC like broadcasters for these and crankworks and x games and......
  • 1 0
New commentators please. Claudio and Rob Warner have some time off in between WC race seasons. 4 Americans in the top 10. Not something you see too often in a global mountain biking event of this caliber.
  • 3 0
Rheeder deserved a higher placing for sure with all the tricks he threw down
  • 1 0
Good times, Good time...yeah Lacondeguy - after that knock out flip in 2012 I knew he was charging and capable of winning, I can't find that knockout anywhere anyone have it where he over rotates and slams.
  • 5 2
Andreu won. He should have still rode the course. afterall he already won.
  • 4 0
The back ground music was horrible.
  • 2 0
It's risk vs benefit. 95 to 89 was such a huge difference that risk-wise, it wasn't worth it. Sucks for the viewers, good for Andrea.
  • 2 0
The stream just ended... how can I watch it? Started watching one hour ago, and I didn't see the second runs
  • 1 0
im trying to find a way but nothing yet. anybody record it?
  • 1 0
Just wait for them to upload the video.. streaming quality had crappy fps.
  • 4 1
semenuk champion ! what a tecnical round !!
  • 2 0
I'm going to buy a Red Bull bottle to say thanks for the free event live stream
  • 1 0
Not trying to be funny, but do they have them in bottles down there?
  • 2 0
I loved how the commentators said: "Fairclough - he's quite styley on the bike" - really?
  • 1 0
So where the f*ck is a replay link of the whole event for those of us poor bastards who had to work and couldn't watch live!?!?!?!?!
  • 2 0
Kyle Strait broke the Rampage champion curse!!! Why is nobody talking about that!??
  • 1 0
Norbey Got Robbed ..... by theNational Gaurd!
Dang, we better construct a zip line to rescue our fallen comrade! #Lastlineofdefence!
  • 8 5
You deserve it Andreu. Well done!!
  • 5 2
yeaaah dream come true for Andreu Smile
  • 5 1
 So who won a boxxer?
  • 1 0
Nobody. It was all secretly planned by rock shox. Jury rides new pikes.
  • 1 0
Huge props if anyone called that top 5
  • 3 0
 YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEaHHHHHHHHHHH ANDREU...................FEST IS BEST! #1
  • 2 0
can't believe aggie f-d his knee up riding yesterday AFTER he completed that hail mary quali run.
  • 3 2
Way to go Andreu, well deserved! But a 95 score was way to high even if he deserved the win. Hope every one that crashed that you recover soon and be back on your bikes!
  • 3 0
Commentators are killing the event. Completely NFL like.
  • 3 1
i like well Zink but, seriously, 2nd for his run ... one big trick and ... nothing
  • 2 0
That steep top section? That was something. Definitely not a better run than Straits but still a great top section to add some points and have him be up in the top 5.
  • 3 0
Announcers sucked ass, oh and it's Norbs NOT Norby, dumbasses
  • 4 0
"hey I'm Norby straight outta PG and I like to party on the trails!" haha
  • 2 0
Andreu should not have so high and unbeatable score for that run,it was great, but not 95 poits worthy..
  • 3 1
Andreu's run is worth at least 94.00. Aggy went through it with over rotated and still got 94.00, no one was complaining.
  • 1 0
 you can´t compare that
  • 1 1
Why people bitchin Andreu won he deserved it, he also called his win way before rampage even started

"This year is gonna be my year"

I was stoked when he won hell my laptop almost went flying...
  • 2 0
Andreu is the boss but still think his 4th place run from last year was better than the first place run this year. IMO.
  • 1 0
WORST COMMENTATORS EVER. turn down the suck! Mind blowing stuff going on. Would have loved to see Andreu do a second run, but understand the self preservation. Dude kill it!
  • 1 0
I'm an Lacondeguy fan, but really i dont think his run worth 95%, he has amplitude, control and good line choice but only one flip, he didnt even pull out all his best tricks
  • 1 0
After all of the posts about running a chainguide he won without a chainguide.
  • 2 0
I hope Louis Reboul's face is okay!
  • 2 0
anybody find a replay i just missed it Frown
  • 1 0
 RAMPAGE!!!!

Thanks to everyone that took care of us, or even just stopped by, the bike valet.

  • 5 3
Yessssssssssssssss finally lacoondeguy yes yes yes yesssssssssssssssss
  • 2 0
Nice job Andreu ! Zink's and Strait's lines where very impressive too !!
  • 2 1
Yeah!!! good rampage and I didnt even have to wait to get off work to watch.
  • 4 1
 felicitaciones weon !!!
  • 4 3
About time he gets worthy podium spot at rampage. All that charging paid off. His line was crazy gnar and clean.
  • 3 2
Shame he did not go for the second run, but it is totally understandable due to nerve tension. Gratz Andreu.
  • 1 0
I slept through 7 f*cking alarms. 7! and woke up in time just to see the podiums being presented. fml Frown
  • 2 0
Who tried to front flip the canyon!?

Holy Toledo!
  • 2 0
 Tom van Steenbergen.
  • 2 1
i like to refer to him as Tom van STEEZEbergen
  • 3 1
 Mcgarry: steel.
Zink and Tom : balls.
Andreu and Strait: fluidity.
  • 2 0
can i watch this somewhere? was it recorded?
  • 2 2
Aggy's qualies run was better than the andrew's one. It sucks for Aggy, I hope to see him riding harder than ever soon and still happy for Andrew !
  • 2 0
 that frontflip- holy moly
  • 1 0
Is redbull going to stream it on demand? Just came home from work and can't watch it!
  • 2 0
Semenuk and Strait should have more points ! Sorry I have to say that..
  • 1 0
Mind fn blown! Cam and his 3,..omg, and I thought his practice drops were ridiculous!
  • 2 0
I'm still wondering what Kelly Mcgarry's spirit animal is?
  • 1 0
I posted a link to the show on Facebook then almost removed it straight away in case my friends heard the commentary.
  • 1 0
Rheeder Got robbed! He should be 2nd and Semenuk 3rd. Again judges overscoring Zink.
  • 1 0
I bet you YT will sell bikes like hell after this Smile
(I hope they keep their good pricing)
  • 1 0
Rider doing suicide no hander Meanwhile commentator busy telling us that these bikes actually have suspension
  • 1 1
Any one else notice branding trying to high five Andeu but was left hanging ?
  • 3 0
Poor guy. I noticed it with Cam after Cam won the Best Trick. Cam didn't notice Brandon wanted to high five him tho, so no bad intentions there.
  • 1 1
cam had no reason not to remember semenuk was hanging there patiently for quite a while and still got nothing from cam. that's some bs right there
  • 2 0
 Sometimes, people miss high fives....
  • 2 0
With all the hassle around them and media looking to get attention, it can happen. Pretty sure no one's feeling were hurt. Besides, Semenuk is kinda mellow.. like he can win this thing and show a face like nothing happen. It's just the way he is. Better to stay humble than becoming a dick, I guess.
  • 2 1
 YEAH LACONDEGUY YEAH!!!!!!!!!!
  • 2 3
great run from andreu, but dissapointing that het didn't ride the second one, we we're waiting for him... my Girlfriend is pretty pissed off on him now...
  • 3 2
The lacondeguy's line was sooooo gnarly ... well done andreu!
  • 1 0
 x2
  • 1 0
Title changed, guess the crybabies were heard.
  • 2 3
I think Zink's run was bigger. Hardcore top section with incredible steep line, huge 36 from natural drop. Essence of freeride. Dont know why Lacon win the rampage.
  • 1 0
the last third of his run was just pedalling on the fireroad. Pretty much the same as last year after throwing that insane backflip.
  • 2 1
Was waiting for his 2nd run...
  • 1 0
I love reading these stupid/funny comments LMAO!
  • 1 0

  • 1 0
 R.I.P. Kyle Straights balls though
  • 1 0
Who agree to put Tippie to comment next year????
  • 3 3
National Guard? Why at a mountain bike event?
  • 2 1
Because NBC are telecasting it, it's no small thing anymore....
  • 3 2
 Again, why National Guard?
  • 3 2
Because they are trying to recruit people, and people that watch an event like this are probably the sort of people who would be interested in joining, after seeing their promo advertisement midway through the broadcast I know it certainly interested me.
  • 3 1
"We are National Guards. We are super bad ass. Almost as bas ass as firemen. Buy our calenders now."
  • 1 1
Okay. Whatever. I can not understand this.
  • 2 1
American ads. Us Europeans will never understand those.
  • 1 0
To be honest I preferred the beer commercial of Crankworx
  • 4 2
We need soldiers for our military industrial machine to continue to make the men at the top money! Muricah!!
  • 2 0
Lol, I was wondering too, but Roba's comment makes sense. I actually think it's better than some stupid junk-food ad or whatever.
  • 2 0
The USA is one of Red Bulls biggest markets. Out of the 4.2 Billion Red Bull made last year $1 Billion was from the USA alone. The USA also houses a vast majority of Red Bulls sponsored athletes. That's the only reason I can think of.
  • 1 0
 Top Race!
  • 1 0
 Semenuk oppo 360 damn!!

  • 2 3
Semenuk won the event. as always scores are manipulated
  • 1 1
Yes of course they are! What a cock, lacondaguys run was way better than semenuks. In fact I think Kyle strait should have been stood in his place!
  • 1 0
I feel Strait should have been higher than Zink, toss up between him and Semenuk really. Andreu won but with a 91 maybe 92 stretch.
  • 1 2
Thank god , its over ! Razz
  • 2 2
