Anthony Messere Blasting to New Heights - Video

Nov 22, 2017
by Red Bull Bike

Over the last decade, the level of riding seen at the world's biggest slopestyle events has gone through the roof. Almost every season it feels like there's a new trick or combination that eclipses what went before it. To stay at the top of such a sport requires an incredible amount of training that puts both bike and body on the line. Anthony Messere is one of the biggest names in slopestyle and is from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. We sent acclaimed filmer Rupert Walker to nearby Abbotsford to capture his riding at its very best.

iirc in his run from this years District Ride he boosted one of the jumps so insanely high, the judges awarded it like he tricked it.

If I could only manage to clear each jump of that track without doing a tiniest trick... I'd be sooooo happy

 hahaha, you wish!

Unfortunately you won’t Waki, as once you’ll clear this track, you’ll immediatly want to add tricks, and you’ll be back at the same psychological state (at another level though ????)

Note to aspiring film makers: the laid back music and style only makes the scale of these jumps and his tricks that much more impactful. When was the last time a video that restrained hit you so hard?

I prefer a potato-quality video of someone riding really slowly to insanely loud thrash metal.

@rezrov: As it has always been, so it shall always be.

Without seeing that quarter in person, no one can understand how massive he went. It doesn't make sense.

I know they're becoming more commonplace, and they're not even the hardest thing in these edits, but I'm always impressed with manual landings. So much control.

the perfection of his speed and form on that frontflip blows my mind

I mean...he had at least 2-3 more inches of landing on that first hit. Why did he hold back?? Wink
  • + 2
The feeling on the first hit of the vid was crazy!!! You could feel the anxiety as the landing was going away (been there a million times).
  • + 3
Where is that park in Abbotsford?!?
  • + 1
Had to watch it twice and I'll probably watch it again later. That front flip landing was mind blowingly smooth.
