Is it time to replace your cranks? FSA Crank Revi Is it time to replace your cranks? FSA Crank Review
So it seems like cranks these days are a dime a dozen. A lot of companies are trying to become more innovative with their designs. Adding things like external bottom bracket bearings, to stiffen up the chassis of the bike. Or hollow out the crank arms and bottom bracket to lighten “her” up. In my opinion it’s just the industries way of “one upping” the competitor and convincing the consumer that it really makes a difference. Well…

There seems to be no end of the season for Nathan Rennie, one of the most talented mountain bike racers on the planet. After returning home from the overseas racing season on October 5th, Rennie is still hard at work downunder. In perhaps his most challenging, and for sure most death defying stunt, Rennie is preparing to set a world record distance jump on a bicycle at the Red Bull Mountain Gap event. This attempt will take place in the Painted Desert, 30km out of Coober Pedy, in northern South Australia, and is currently scheduled for Nov. 3rd.

The celebration of bikes and a weekend at the Full The celebration of bikes and a weekend at the Full Boar Challenge
Well since I've almost become an honorary citizen of Kamloops this year, it was only fitting to make the trip up the Coquihalla to take in the Full Boar Challenge this past weekend. It's events like this that really make you appreciate cycling and what makes it so great to most of us. It may have rained until 3 in the afternoon on Saturday, but that did nothing to dampen the rider's spirits. Here are mine and Derek Chamber's takes on what will hopefully become an annual pilgrimage for myself to cap off the riding season.

Tales From the Trails Tales From the Trails
Summer crept up on me this year, as quick as always, my bike was in pieces and I didn’t have a job lined up once school was finished. The city was getting me down, there wasn’t enough riding to fill my appetite and I stirred at night thinking of how to satisfy my itch to ride after a long winter. A stroke of good luck brought me and my buddy Brian the offer of a job building trails at Panorama Mountain Resort. Neither of us could refuse an opportunity like that. As any guy would do, I immediately started pumping the idea to my girlfriend Tobi. There was no need for hype, if you know Tobi you know she loves to play all day and Invermere seemed like the answer this year. We loaded up Booty (the muffler-less Ford) and ran for the hills with the exhaust blaring and the Maiden pumping.

The Prophet continues to impress The Prophet continues to impress
At the start of the season we introduced you to the Cannondale Prophet 600. After a brief ride we said we were blown away by how good of an all-mountain bike it was, and for just $1,600US, it was an amazing value.

What makes the Prophet stand out is its versatility. With five inches of travel at either end as well as easily adjustable geometry thanks to a XC and Freeride shock position, the Prophet has worked out perfectly as an all-purpose bike. Take it to a place with drops, rock gardens and seriously aggressive terrain and the Cannondale eats up everything you can give it. But put it in the XC position, throw on your lycra and clipless pedals you’re ready to do some serious racing.

Zion Freeride Festival- October 1 & 2 Zion Freeride Festival- October 1 & 2
When Gale Dahlager first invited me to the Zion Freeride Festival, I wasn't sure what or who to expect there. I made a last minute decision and boxed my bike for Vegas. After a wicked but exhausting week at Interbike I wasn't completely stoked on the idea of driving the 2 hours to Utah to ride. But I decided to make the best of it and reserved a PT crusier convertible to travel through the desert in style. Saturday morning I woke up as early as the night before would permit, threw my bike into the backseat and cruised into Virgin with the sun beaming down and the wind blowing through my hair (it's not like the movies show- it actually blows straight up). After 3 wrong turns, 2 national parks and 5 hours later, I pulled into the parking lot.
