AXO TMPK DH Knee Guard: Review AXO TMPK DH Knee Guard: Review
There comes a time when you realize that you’re shins are in need of some R&R after you feel the dents, or touch a certain spot and not be able to feel it because of nerve damage. We all know mistakes happen no matter where we’re riding. It’s always nice to have something there to keep your knees and shins protected.

I was really in need of some new pads. After not owning a pair for quite a while, I wasn’t really to sure what would be a good set of pads for me. I was lucky enough to get a chance to try out a pair of AXO DH Pads.

Bern Helmets: Macon Review Bern Helmets: Macon Review
There used to be two different options for riders who used bucket helmets. You could either shred on an unapproved style of helmet, which offered no protection, yet fit well, looked good, and was comfortable. On the other hand, you could get an approved style helmet which offered full protection, but is uncomfortable, doesn’t fit, and made you look like toad from Mario kart 64. You now have a third option…

Balfa BB7 Long (real long) Term Review Balfa BB7 Long (real long) Term Review
I’ve been the proud owner of one the greatest downhill bikes of all time for four seasons now. Better yet, it’s Canadian. Everywhere I go people ask me about what the bike is all about. It has a unique look; tight and compact. It looks like there is a lot going on but the fact is the design is a simple single pivot. Being a small company from the east that is now out of business I’m not surprised at the fact that many people have not heard about Balfa. As an owner of a growing trail design and development company based out of Alberta I’ve had the opportunity to take my ride on many different contracts. I’ve tried to do my part in educating people on this French Canadian diamond in the rough over the last four years and will continue to do so as long as she’s running.

Show casing the Interior of BC’s top local up and coming talent. Our main focus is on the evolution of the sport and today’s riding styles.

The riding action is off the hook, we have filmed and built specific free ride lines for the video, tons of dirt jumping, DH pinning, and all forms of BMX from Street to gnar dirt jumps. We are trying a fairly new thing with the mixed riding genre in the film, but bike riding is coming to a point where riders from each sport can appreciate each other, and we are trying to break down some barriers and just showcase really good bike riding.

Cove Bikes has created the definition of the "shore bike" when they created the Playmate. Even though the Playmate is a free ride orientated bike, it still has huge potential to be a high speed, fast rolling single crown bike, with the potential for dual crown forks. Be carefull though, the wife may not approve of it.

Tires, knobbies, rubber or treads. Whatever you want to call them, they are what give us that special connection to the dirt that we all depend on. Back in the day there were only a few different tires to choose from so it was easy, pick one and pump it up hard so you don’t pinch and you’re ready to rip. Jump forwards six or seven years and things have changed a bit. There are countless tread patterns, many different widths, a few sidewall options and on top of all that you need to pick a compound that suit’s the terrain, weather and how often you ride.

Bikeskills has just released the latest in its series of free, “How-To” videos. The new video was created to help mountain bikers understand switchbacks and develop skills to deal with them.

The switchback category was chosen by Bikeskills Joe Lawwill as a result of his experience in conducting clinics for Bikeskills. “We’ve found that few mountain bikers actually understand switchback turns. Even the ones that can make switchbacks on familiar trails often struggle when they encounter them on new trails and terrain. The objective of the video is to first explain what’s going on with a switchback and then provide the instructional elements to conquer them,” says Lawwill.

Whistler based company, ZEPtechniques, is set to release the industries premier Professional Mountain Bike Instructor (PMBI) courses along with their own skill clinics next spring. Designed to train professional instructors, their PMBI courses will teach candidates how to guide and instruct in both x-country and bike park/downhill settings. With the mountain bike industry still growing and bike parks springing up all over the place, more and more people are turning to instructors for a helping hand each year.

The dirtgirls summer comes to a close The dirtgirls summer comes to a close
Well the first summer of dirtgirls has officially come to an end with the finish of the last camp and a week later the closure of the lifts in the Portes du Soleil.

Sixteen lucky graduates have gone on to a new and expanded world of biking. Lorna Eccleston who attended the first week had only been riding for 5 weeks and made an amazing improvement to her riding. She found "Riding with women makes me more relaxed and I feel more comfortable trying new things. I don't have to prove myself; I try it because I feel confident and because the other women are doing it. Plus I felt I could talk about what scares me more easily than when I ride with men, I wouldn't have come here with a group of men because I would find it intimidating."
