A quick look at the 2008 Trek Fuel EX 8 A quick look at the 2008 Trek Fuel EX 8
I raced my XC bike all year, I am kind of sick of bikes right now and really don't want to touch a bike with a 10 foot pole. I have been doing a ton of hiking, kayaking, hockey, squash, and camping, yeah bring it! But a bike ride? Wenting's cycle in Mission some how convinced me to demo this 2008 Trek EX8. I went to pick up the bike and my first thought was, man this bike looks deadly, it just looks like it will eat anything on the trail for breakfast.

Hey maybe a bike ride will be alright?

BC Bike Race "The Ultimate Singletrack Experience" 2008 Registration Hits 50% BC Bike Race "The Ultimate Singletrack Experience" 2008 Registration Hits 50%
Slated for June 28-July 4, the BC Bike Race has begun 2008 registration with a flood of international entries; they are already at 50% capacity and fully expect to sell out all 400 available spots (based on teams of 2, the BCBR also includes teams of 4).

This year’s inaugural July 1-7 run of the BC Bike Race turned some heads as race organizers defined their flavor - “The Ultimate Singletrack Experience” - in the world of epic mountain bike stage racing. It’s no surprise then that Chris Eatough, the winner of this year’s event and six-time 24-hour World Champion, praised, “The BC Bike Race was amazing. The best MTB race in the world, no doubt.”

FMF Enduro Series - Mark Weir's experience FMF Enduro Series - Mark Weir's experience
It seems the guys from FMF France have put together a race series that melted soul right into it. How many race series have the vision to allow a past Junior World Champ (Julien Poomans)to design the courses? This is the kind of thing that makes Enduro Series racing so good. The people that produce this event care more about the ride than packaging and press. They have been doing this series for 4 years and been changing people's minds about racing with every race they put on.

Even Harley the dog had a sweater on this morning and Kat required Fruit Loops to get her rolling. Shreddies neighbor stopped by to check out Mike’s Delica and managed to fix all the light problems while he was there-thanks man! Once the whole crew awoke from their slumber and we were packed up for another day it was off to town with us to pick up Cory, as he’d be our Desous shuttle driver this morning.

Stuff Mike Rides will show up every now and then whenever I get around to writing it. All of the stuff that I don't feel like writing a 9000 word review on will be in one of these. More than anything though 'Stuff Mike Rides' will be about how things held up over the long haul.

Chain Reaction Cycles NPS Round 6 The Final! Chain Reaction Cycles NPS Round 6 The Final!
Innerleithen, Scotland on Saturday and Sunday the 13th and 14th of October 2007.

Innerleithen, normally a quiet Scottish Borders town, is often rudely awakened each year by the downhill circus making a visit. This year, due to the slightly damp weather that we got around the time there should have been some sunbathing being done, Rugog was unfortunately postponed. If Wales is wet at the best of times, then in October you would need a snorkel to find the track. With that in mind, using Innerleithen as a replacement was definitely a sensible choice. We may have already dropped in for Round 1 but with so many tracks on offer, creating something with a different feel wasn’t going to be a problem. If you’re reading this from a computer screen several thousand kilometers away then detailed track descriptions aren’t really going to mean anything but suffice to say, it was a mixture of old technical classics and wide open, flat out new era, all with a few little twists to keep the locals on their toes.

Arduum Challenge -This Weekend Oct.20th and 21st Arduum Challenge -This Weekend Oct.20th and 21st
We all know that some of you have actually put your DH bikes away for the season, but hold up you're gonna need all the travel you can find and dig out your old stinky armor too. There's a Downhill race this weekend and you'd better be there. The Arduum Challenge will be on Red Mtn. which is located just north of Mission B.C. in the same vicinity as the infamous Bear Mt. race course. Being in the same vicinity does not mean that there are any similarities in the two course though.

"You've seen and heard about Platinum, then came the re-birth of Heckyl and Jeckyl, those are two of their Freeride trails, now see what the minds of the “Woodlot builders” think a race course should be like.” "The trail is steep and techy!" - Greg Rector

Where in the world is Ricky Federau? European Adventures - Take Two! Where in the world is Ricky Federau? European Adventures - Take Two!
(Below is Ricky Federau's tale of his most recent trip to Europe)

Last month I did this racing trip to Europe. The plan was to go to Switzerland for a Swiss Cup, Scotland for World Champs, and Slovenia for World Cup finals. The plan behind this trip was to go really fast at Scotland and Slovenia. The Swiss cup was just going to be kind of a tune up race, and I really was not expecting it to go very well with all the travel and jet lag. So the swiss cup went bad, and that was fine but Scotland and Slovenia also went bad. But a 3 week racing trip to Europe always has its moments and unplanned adventures.

It is because carbon bearing rocks put under immense pressure turn into diamonds that a silver medal can be worth gold !

July 30th, 2007, Whistler, Canada: After a great win in Crankworx, a triple fracture to my right foot shortened my stay in Canada. A bad injury turned my trip back to Europe into a real challenge. More importantly the diagnosis was alarming: 6 to 8 weeks seemed to be the needed time to recover and the World Championships were one month away. This is unfortunately a scenario that I know too well since it is identical to last year.

Freeride Entertainment has always put together opening sections that set the stage for the whole show and this year was no different. The theme for rider’s intros in Smack Down was a Mexican Wrestling, Royal Rumble if you will. Where, as a rider’s mask gets removed, it would queue up their section. The matches were funny and the riding is amazing. So with out further ado here is my take on NWD 8 Smack Down:
