PaintHouse Customs Contest - Winner! PaintHouse Customs Contest - Winner!
Source: PaintHouse Customs

Congratulations to Lucas Bell of Victoria BC! You've won a one of a kind POC helmet painted by PaintHouse Customs! Lucas's design was super clean, well thought out, and just plain bad ass! Like the helmets design, it contained both strait and curved lines and had a 3D element while maintaining a 2D image.

Transition Bikes TR450 colorways! Transition Bikes TR450 colorways!
Source: Transition Bikes

Here are some samples showing the production TR450 graphics and colors. There is a bit of a moto theme going with the red and yellow designs - a bit of shout out to the moto inspired "450" name. Both the red and the yellow frame graphics are clear coated over for durability and a clean look. The white frame has removable decals, with extras included so riders can really customize their setup. There may be some aftermarket TR450 decal kits sold by 3rd party companies, so the white frame is a great blank canvas.

Frames will begin shipping sometime in December.

PaintHouse Customs Contest - 5 Finalists! PaintHouse Customs Contest - 5 Finalists!

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who entered the contest! After the contest ended last Monday I had received 172 entries, most containing several designs. And after much deliberation amongst my colleagues and peers I was able to narrow that 172 down to my top 5. These 5 designs have great composition, a unique perspective on the idea, and a professional quality that would match the helmet. They are also all completely original artworks.

I had each of the finalists give me the run down on their designs; picking a winner out of these won't be easy...

A Long Distance Relationship A Long Distance Relationship
Trail building is a passion most mountain bikers possess. We see a potential line and instinctively pick up a shovel to carve away at the ground. When I first got into mountain biking I thought it was the coolest thing to build almost impossible to ride stunts. As the years went on, and mountain biking evolved, I learned trail building is an art and requires more than some tools and a day off. Trail building to me has become less a passion and more an expression of the things I enjoy. I spent the last year working on a new trail that focuses on the new and the old.

It's a shorter trail but when you live eight hours away from it you learn to make every minute count...

Nukeproof Generator All Mountain II Wheelset Revie Nukeproof Generator All Mountain II Wheelset Review
Many years ago, back in the haze of purple anodizing, 20" handlebars and custom lightweight parts courtesy of your Black and Decker, Nukeproof were a company well known for their high end trickery such as carbon bodied hubs. It's doubtful that many would remember those products but Nukeproof over the last few years have been reborn (thankfully less the purple) and are back in the fold with some very neat kit, including the wheels we have on test here. These are their factory offerings which are made up with several parts from the collective Nukeproof stable to produce a capable, light, and all importantly well priced set of hoops. We've had this pair on test for over six months now, opting to give them a good pounding before coming to any conclusions. After all, it's easy to get something feeling good out of the factory but far harder to have it feeling the same after a season of abuse.

Extensively tested over the course of the 2009 British race season, read on to see how we thought they coped:

This is the one, the most hyped and talked about product that will hit the shelves and tracks in 2010. Mid 90's and the talk was all about the TLD Edge. The turn of the century and it was all about the D2 Daytona. It's been some time coming, has it been worth the wait?

Here's some info that will help you decide and wet your lips..

Cannondale Bikes - Interbike 2009 Cannondale Bikes - Interbike 2009
Cannondale is one of the busiest and most innovative bike companies in our sport today. They are always looking at ways to make things different, never ones to look inside the box, but rather spend all their time out side it making cool products. New for 2010 is the Cannondale RZ One Twenty 1, a 120mm version to last year's very successful RZ 140 platform. The Cannondale Moto Carbon 2 is back for 2010 and has under gone some refinements to further improve its stance among the All Mountain bikes out there.

Troy Lee Carbon D2 Shaun Palmer Troy Lee Carbon D2 Shaun Palmer
Shaun Palmer needs no introduction or does he? Mrs. P always quizzes me when I get something that is that "HOT" and I need to empty the fridge. I had to describe him to her, as the 40 year old love child from the loins of Steve Peat, Rob Warner and Daily Thomson.

Does that do him any justice? Probably not.. Does this? You decide...

Elka Suspension - Interbike 2009 Elka Suspension - Interbike 2009
While Elka is a relatively new name in the cycling world they have been producing high end suspension products in the motorized segment for many years. Well known within the ATV circles, Elka also has a full line of rear shocks for both street and track use, as well as fork piston kits for road racing motorcycles. Now they are taking that experience and applying it to mountain bikes. Elka takes a slightly different approach than other manufacturers when providing customers with their Stage 5 damper, as they do not have a 'generic tune' to fit most bikes. With so many vastly different rear suspension designs that produce varying leverage ratios, as well as differing needs from the actual riders, Elka sees fit to tune the shock for each specific bike and rider. That strategy has already earned Elka a strong following in the short time they have been available as it has brought a semi-custom tuning option to the average rider, and at a very competitive price.

Check them out inside and see why they are a true player in the rear shock after market and OEM spec market,

Anthill Films - Behind the Scenes Anthill Films - Behind the Scenes
Anthill Films has been working on the film, Follow Me, for quite some time now, and once I heard that they were coming out to Mt.Washington to shoot with Cam McCaul and Darren Berrecloth, I was interested in gathering some information about them, and the film in general. With the main principal being following a rider through a trail or section, Follow Me is set to show us a different perspective on our riding scene, while still featuring some of the biggest name riders in the industry.

Here's an interview with the brains behind the lenses at Anthill Films...

2009 Fluidride Cup Final Mega-Post 2009 Fluidride Cup Final Mega-Post
Another top notch Pacific Northwest gravity season has come to a close, the bragging rights have been doled out. Allride Academy/Santa Cruz wonder boy Mikey Sylvestri and Red Bull/Intense Jill Kinter take the Pro race wins and Yeti's Evan Powell snags Jr Expert. It was not your typical Sunday race day. Yes, we had blue skies, but one element that I never thought would play a factor was the extremely 'high winds'. Mt Hood Ski Bowl isn't really known for its wind, I conjure up thoughts of heavy rains or wet heavy snow. This closing weekend of the 2009 Fluidride Cup was one for the memory books.
