Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. – On June 21 Panorama Mountain Village will launch the Canadian Rockies’ only quad-accessed North-Shore style stunt trail and permanent Bikercross course.

“This summer the freeriding at Panorama is going to be fast and furious. We are going to have the best Bikercross in B.C., with the most flow and the most pro-options,” says Byron Grey, park designer and builder for Panorama. Grey is well-known and respected in the mountain biking scene. Avid riders may recognize him from the highly successful Sportsnet television series “Drop In” and he has also ridden in numerous films by MPF.
The stunt trail combines stunts with a steep, consistent, fall-line to create a freeride experience unparalleled in the region. The trail will be rated double-black diamond and will end at the Bikercross, giving hardcore downhillers a 1,200 ft descent riddled with stunts and features designed for expert riders.

The Bikercross is one, of only two, permanent, lift-accessed courses in B.C. It includes 20-30 features and accommodates four riders at a time. The course is open to the public and will also be used for competitions such as the BC Cup (June 28 to 29) and a bi-monthly Bikercross event running on Saturday evenings.

Panorama boasts terrain to suit a variety of riding levels. A new green trail has been added for beginner downhillers while the Bike Park will be an area for intermediate and expert riders to practice and master various terrain features and obstacles in a safe, closed environment before heading onto the stunt trail and the rest of the mountain. The park features step-downs, drops, a rock garden, dirt jumps, ladder bridges-ranging from 1.5 inches to 3 feet wide, and ladder drops simulating cliffs and other straight drops-ranging in size from 1 to 8 feet high.
The Purcell Mountain Bike School will begin running mid-week and weekend camps starting June 21. Instructor Byron Grey will help participants become better riders whether they are newcomers to the sport or seasoned riders looking to hone racing techniques.
