Donna Fletcher (USA), winner of the Women’s Open Class, ventured from Vermont to wrastle for $1,000 and the US Open women’s title. “The course had a lot of everything I love. High-speed sections, technical rock gardens, off-camber roots and some really sweet banked turns. It was so much fun that I never stopped to rest all weekend long”, said Fletcher.
“The U.S. Open is the future of our sport, and an excellent arena for any vender looking to promote their product. More fun on, and off the mountain than any other event this year” said Marty Walsh, Sales Manager for Super Innovative Concepts.
Team Sobe/Cannondale rider Aaron Chase, a Diablo Freeride Park local, threw down a fast run claiming third in the Open Class. “The U.S. Open at Diablo was one of the greatest events I have ever been to. It’s no coincidence that I moved to Jersey”, said Chase.
Event coordinators have already begun planning the 2004 US Open and anticipate a larger cash purse and broader range of competitors. Sponsorship opportunities are available and inquiries should be directed to diablofreeridepark@mountaincreek.com.
